《Psycho X Psychic》Chapter 69 - Assuming The Test Scores

'Lina... I don't know what her surname is but I don't think she's anyone special.'
Teren thought while he sat opposite the girl in question. Within the noisy and a bit chaotic cafeteria, these two didn't stand out that well. In comparison to when Teren was sitting with Iesa, no one really gave them attention except for the few boys who had their eyes on Teren.
"What do you think your score is on the Humanity test?"
While opening a junk food, Lina asked with a smile. She started with a simple question in contrast to what Teren expect. For the record, he expects that she had something specific to say or ask since she brazenly asked him.
So with a simple question comes with a simple answer.
"I guess I'll barely pass."
"Really? Although I know that Teren always sleeps in class, I think you're smart."
"On what basis?"
"Heh, we were classmates since elementary, right? I guess instinct!"
"..."
Teren didn't know how to say about that.
'I almost forgot that they thought I'm their classmate since elementary.'
"So you won't deny it?"
Lina, as a cheerful and friendly girl, didn't leave any gap for the scene to become awkward. She carried the conversation as easy as breathing.
"I don't think I'm smart though."
"Hahaha, you're so humble. But how can be so sure that you'll pass when you always sleep at class?"
"I'm studying at home."
"..."
Teren didn't expect Lina to become silent at that point. He looked at her and saw her eyes that had strange suspicion.
'Hm... did she catch that?' he thought, guessing that Lina must've found a loophole in his words.
"But how can you study at home if you're sleeping and not taking notes? Furthermore, I don't think you have someone from who you can borrow notes from though. Finally, we have specific topics that our teachers teach. If you search it on the internet without knowing the pointers, you wouldn't do well in tests."

Lina smiled while she exposed Teren's contradiction.
"Well, I just asked the pointers and made notes on my own at home."
Teren answered vaguely and seemed a little bit confused to give an impression that he doesn't know what Lina was talking about. Just like that, Lina doubted her own assumption.
"Ah, I guess that's possible too. It's not like the material are that different on the internet. Technology's really that convenient."
When Teren thought that Lina was about to let the topic go, she then continued.
"But who did you ask?"
Teren had no obligation to answer in the first place, however, he knew that keeping quiet would just further provoke the aggressiveness of this persistent class president.
Before Teren could answer, Lina cut in.
"It couldn't be Nick because when the pointers were given out, he was not listening and taking down notes."
'Huh? Why would she know that?'
Teren actually found it hard to believe. Why would she pursue this matter? What is her intention? And why is she looking at Nick at that moment?
As if hearing Teren's internal questions, Lina answered.
"Oh, I coincidentally saw him because I was trying to wake you up back then so that you can take notes."
'But that is not enough to back up what you said.' Teren thought but didn't try to counterattack. He has no intention of that since in his intuition, fighting back would just put fuel onto the fire.
"I asked Sir Hanon."
Teren simply answered. He wanted to say Nick but of course, Lina shot that down.
"Hahaha, you're so funny, Teren." Lina lightly laughed, "Sir Hanon is only a teacher of Humanities subject, why would he have the pointers from other subjects?"
'Finally got my leash on your neck, right, my doggy?' if no one was around, Lina would've not restrained from showing her expression which would be a smile that only villains have.

"Other subjects?" Teren tilted his head, "But aren't we only talking about the subject of Humanities."
"Ah?..."
Lina, who thought that she had cornered Teren was confused.
"Am I misunderstanding something? I thought you asked about the subject of Humanities so I answered with the assumption that I get a passing score... right?"
Although Teren was still indifferent, Lina thought that he smiled at the end. Squinting her eyes as if she was about to get serious, she continued.
"Then how about the notes you have yesterday? Why do you have notes on other subjects?"
"Although I don't have the pointers, I still tried to make notes from the internet. It may be just a petty attempt though so I'm not sure I'm going to pass."
"So you're saying that you wouldn't pass the other subjects other than Humanities? You know that you almost have no class participation, right? Wouldn't you fail the whole quarter if you failed the monthly exams?"
"You're right but if I'm lucky, I may pass."
"A-aren't you worried that you'll fail?"
"Compared to the Quarterly Exams, Monthly Exams is just a normal assessment. I will just have to prepare for the Quarterly Exams."
"But still..."
"Also, I thought you assume that I'm smart. Why are you worried about me failing?"
With Teren's last question, Lina stayed quiet for a while. The former omitted a lot and he didn't spare any chance to lie. Of course, Lina wouldn't figure that out to that extent.
'H-he just turned the table around me. Don't bark questions at your master!'
Although she thought that, Lina became timid and was unable to answer. Maybe the two were too focused on their conversation but they didn't notice the change of atmosphere in the cafeteria. Everyone looked at a girl who sat at the table just beside Teren and Lina's table.
'It's because I thought that psy-'
Lina stopped her thoughts when she noticed the atmosphere. Looking around, she saw that the majority of the boys were stealing glances at a particular spot near them. Her eyes immediately rolled towards that spot and she immediately noticed a dazzlingly beautiful girl 'minding her own business'
"Uwah! Ah!"
The dazzlingly beautiful girl, Iesa was so startled by Lina's shout that she stood up from her seat too.. A comical scene occurred as the two of them stared at each other with surprised and embarrassed expressions right after they jerked off from their seats.

How to Raise Your Dungeon
A dungeon core awakens for the first time. It knows nothing, it has nothing, but it can hear something. Voices, whispering, talking, and sharing. For now, they are distant. But it believes, if it proves itself, they may provide it with wisdom and direction. And so its slow but steady growth begins. Polls will come when the dungeon specifically wants to choose between a number of options, and believes it will receive an answer. However, it will "hear" any comments made on the most recent chapter, and these will shape its behaviour. It trusts you implicitely. This story is an exercise in stretching my creative muscles, so with each decision made, the options and opportunities open to the dungeon will change- some closing off forever. The dungeon will face threats periodically, and its fate in these encounters will be heavily influenced by your advice, though it will of course do its absolute best even without advice. It hardly wants to die. Heavily inspired by There Is No Epic Loot Here, Only Puns, though my approach to the concept is somewhat different from that work.
