Charles threw the ball away and took her to the stairs nearby, making her sit, he handed her a bottle of water. She downed half a bottle in one go and when she was a little relaxed Charles asked sitting next to her and placing a hand over her shoulder "Now tell me what happened?"

She kept quiet for quite a long then narrated the story slowly taking her pauses and after she finished Charles assured her "Darling you are too good at basketball and what is the big deal about it, you can easily win, moreover I will help you practice."

As he said this Rachel lifted her head "That jerk said in front of the whole school that if I loose I will have to kiss him in front of everyone."

Charles was agitated at this and stood up "How dare he, I will come with you and beat this kid up."

Rachel stood up and smiled at him "Don't worry Dad I will take care of this."

Charles was still angry but looking at his daughter's pale face, he hugged her "I am sure you missed lunch so come in I will make you something good to eat."

She smiled and nodded and as they went in she asked "How did you know I didn't eat."

As Charles made dinner she sat on the shelf next to him "When is mom coming back."

"Maybe in half an hour, she had some work to do."

They had a little conversation while he made dinner and when Jamie was back they had the dinner and she quietly went to her room after Charles gave her a cheering smile.

She took a shower and climbed into her bed but she could not fall asleep at that arrogant guys words and neither could Kevin fall asleep, thinking how a girl could ignore him.

They both fell asleep thinking about each other that night and the big game the next day.
