Alex ran as fast as she could. It was as if her legs were on fire and her ability was fueling her running speed.

Xu Meilin and the cat both followed behind her but they were lagging behind.

And before long, just like she had expected, Alex caught sight of a pair of familiar silhouettes. 

She loudly grunted and pushed herself off the ground, and used the momentum of her run to jump into one of the two figures, knocking him directly onto the ground.

Fang Yuan trembled. He was only joking before but the woman straddling him on top right now almost looked like a real tigress!

Her eyes, her hair, everything looked flaming hot like it was on fire. Even the place where her hand gripped him was searing hot!

"You lunatic! Why are you still following me?" He shouted and his friend drew out his weapon.

Alex was very aware that there were now two of them and she only had Meilin with her. 

She didn't want to turn this into a fight as they might be on the losing end, not to mention the dire situation they were currently in.

"Listen. Listen. Stop. I am not here to fight. We are not here to fight." She picked herself up off the guy who was still flattened on the ground and muttered.

"Then why are you here?" Fang Yuan also stood up.

His attitude was so annoying that Alex wanted to slam him onto the ground, but she gritted her teeth and reigned in her temper. "Don't leave us like this. We need the grenades."

"Excuse me? But that's not our problem." Geming sneered. 

"We tried once to help you both before, didn't we? And see how that turned out? Nope. We are good this time. You can deal with your own stuff and we will be on our way." Fang Yuan added.

Both the guys had clearly no intention of helping them out.

Alex clenched her fists tightly and shouted back. "COME ON! While you are being stubborn, people are dying back there. Can't you hear their screams? How are you being so heartless?"

"So what? You both will just run off to your camp now? Everything will be fine? Who do you think the centipedes will attack next after this? They would have grown even stronger after consuming us."

"Is that what you really want to happen?"

"Don't you have a family? Don't you have a mother and a father? What if someone else is leaving them to die at this exact same moment? How can you be so heartless?" She wailed loudly.

"What sort of twisted logic is that?" Geming was even more unforgiving than Fang Yuan and he did not even flinch after hearing her words. "We are leaving."

He started walking back and Fang Yuan as well shrugged his shoulders and started following him, heading back to their camp.

Unlike Alex, he had no issues if the two women came back with them to their camp. After all, that was what they were originally trying to do, to help them.

But how could Alex let them leave so easily? 

Ahhh! She yelled loudly, a burst of flame popping out of her hand. The fire roared as if it was alive and swirled around her. "If you won't help us, you are not leaving here alive."

The two figures immediately stopped and turned around. Geming materialized the long scythe in his hand and Fang Yuan took out the machine gun.

The two sides were about to go at each other. However, at this moment a small soft voice sounded.

Meow Meow Meow.

A small chubby tabby cat strolled in between the two and licked its paw cutely. 

Its cuteness was off the charts and it made it hard for either of them to focus on the battle and inadvertently harm the innocent cat. 

It was as if that small thing was the only remnant piece of the calm and peaceful world they had once known.

"You wanted to help us, right? Help us now." Alex gritted her teeth and muttered. "Please."

"We didn't trust you before but you can help us now and show that you are indeed trustworthy. Don't do this to us. We should help each other." 

"Otherwise, who knows what is going to come next? If you abandon us now, are you confident of handling the future all on your own?"

"But if you help us now, you will have a powerful ally on your side. You know that we are not bad people. We didn't kill you or harm you, did we?"

Alex tried her best to say the last few things that she could as she knew that every minute they were spending here, someone was dying back there.

Her words did not hide the desperation of the situation they were in. Geming, however, still looked unmoved, but Fang Yuan sighed tiredly. "Brother, enough. Let's just give them the grenades."

"YOU!" Geming was still furious. He was the type who would never give someone a second chance.

"Fine. Just give them the bag, but we are still leaving. There is no way they are going to be able to deal with all those huge worms. There is no point in us staying here and dying."

"Thank you. Thank you so much." Xu Meilin quickly thanked the two and Alex's expression also softened up.

Fang Yuan quickly dashed over to Alex and handed her the bag. He looked at her with a weird expression on his face, almost as if he was regretting something, and added. "Take care."

The two of them then turned around to leave, while Alex and Xu Meilin also dashed back towards the hospital entrance as fast as they could.

And the small cat who was forgotten like usual meowed quietly. It looked around here and there for a bit and then surprisingly ran in the direction the two guys had gone.
