"Let's calm down first."

At this point, Alex was talking more to herself rather than to Xu Meilin. She tried as best as she could to stop herself from getting overwhelmed by the situation and think clearly.

"I can do this. I am no longer the same. I can definitely do this." She muttered under her breath and looked around.

They were surrounded by concrete reinforced walls on all sides and the only exit was being blocked by the ugly head, which was also no longer simply a head.

A 8 feet centipede swayed in the air in front of the two of them. It had thick hairs protruding from its body all over and it leaked acidic goop from its body.

The dirty grimy liquid as well was slowly crawling over the previously clean hospital floor, rapidly covering a huge portion of the big hall.

Alex had no idea what the liquid was but she definitely did not want to step on it and find out. And besides, this centipede was the worst thing that could have popped up.

The memories from the four giant boas were still fresh in her mind. 

The image of more monstrous centipedes suddenly popping out around them, surrounding them from all directions vividly floated across her brain.

The thought gripped her and made her freeze in position, unable to make any move.

But Alex somehow managed to snap herself out of the shock quickly. "Damn it!" Damn it. DAMN IT ALL!" She shouted. 

"Let's not think about what might happen. My enemy right now is only you. I can take you down. I can take you down."

"I don't even have to kill you. Everybody is right here."

"All we have to do is survive until little white or Lu Chen hears this commotion."

"That's it. That's all we need to it."

"Mei Mei. We can do this okay? We are not going to die here today! Not by this ugly motherfucker. Stay behind me and remain alert."

Xu Meilin trembled in fear. Her eyes were red and her lips were shivering, but she as well clutched the dagger in hand tightly and stared at the monster in front of them unblinkingly.

"We can do this." She repeated the words Alex had said.

Meanwhile, the centipede let out another roar and swayed its huge body towards the two mana rich human beings. Its huge mouth covered with what looked like a million teeth with at least three or four rows both in its upper and lower jaw was nothing short of terrifying to look at.

"Move. Run. keep moving. Let's try to get near the door." Alex shouted and the two of them ran at the top of their speed. They tried to muster as much strength as they possibly could and ran.

The beast roared and moved once again, liquid splashing out of its body and covering the floor. The thick viscous liquid sloshed like a small brook and spilled everywhere. 

Alex and Xu Meilin dashed but they no longer could avoid the pungent ooze on the floor. Their feet touched the ground and the acid sizzled, instantly eating away at their shoes.

However, there wasn't anything else that they could do! They needed to keep moving. The humongous centipede was just as fast as it was thick.

And Alex had no doubts about its strength. She didn't want to pause and try taking an attack from its many rows of sharp spiky teeth. 

The two women ran, without letting their feet stay in a single spot for more than a fraction of a second. 

Splash! Splash! Splash! 

Their footsteps echoed in the otherwise silent wing of the hospital and they successfully managed to run around a full circle now almost reaching near the exit. 

If they could just get to the exit then they would be able to get out through the door and run away to another place. 

If they had an advantage over the centipede at all, it was definitely in terms of speed. 

Though the viscous acid on the floor slowed down their movement a bit, it also stimulated their speed as if they were trying to walk or run over hot lava.

Ahhhh! Ahhh! The two of them screamed and ran. The shoes were now almost completely gone and the next time their feet touched the ground, it would be their skin in contact with the acid.

But it didn't matter, they were almost near the door!

However, at the last moment...

SPLASH!

The centipede moved and another bucket of ooze spilled from its body and splashed on the floor. 

This time the liquid directly spilled near the two of them and it made them lose their balance and fall down with a loud plop!

"FUCCCCK!" Alex yelled as every single part of her skin felt like it was burning. Her condition was better than Xu Meilin's who had fallen down with her face first.

They couldn't move. They couldn't think and the time was ticking fast, because the next move of the centipede would inevitably be to directly strike and swallow them whole.

They could hear the sharp metallic noises from the monster as it ground its several teeth and swayed once again, moving towards them.

This was the beast's mode of attack. It successfully trapped its prey in its viscous goo and then captured it with its physical strength. That's how it had managed to grow so strong in such a short period of time.

Roar! Kraaaa!

The grating noises moved closer and closer. Everything was happening too fast and Lu Chen and the dog were nowhere to be seen.

Alex knew that she had to do something now. If she didn't do anything then it would be all over.

She gritted her teeth, bore the pain of her body being burnt alive in the strong acid, and raised her hand, holding her dagger tightly.

"I can do this."

"I can do this." She muttered, her eyes fixated on the monster and the big open mouth that was coming towards her.
