Lu Chen did not know how his attacker looked but just judging from the hand that grabbed him and the grip on his body, he could tell that the person was strong and muscular.

"Make one wrong move and you will be dead before you can blink."

"Alright. Alright. Can we calm down please?" Lu Chen immediately relaxed his body and softened his tone. "I am not here to make any trouble."

"I live in one of the apartments above and was caught outside when everything turned to shit. I am just trying to get back to my house and wait quietly until a rescue team arrives man."

"Come on. No need to be so rough. I mean no harm, please. I am not a criminal."

Seeing Lu Chen let his guard down, the other guy as well relaxed slightly. "Hmm. Alright. I will take you inside now. You can present your case to the leader."

"Leader? Ah?" Lu Chen blinked innocently and nodded with a silly smile on his face. "Ok. Thanks a lot!"

The two of them then turned around and started walking inside as a small but sharp and pointed ice spear just an inch away behind the assassin's neck silently dissolved and disappeared, completely unnoticed.

Lu Chen silently watched while the man knocked on one of the metallic exteriors which seemed welded shut. However, as soon as he knocked, the metal slab split apart in the middle making an artificial door.

Oh, that's how they have been entering and exiting… Lu Chen silently muttered to himself.

Though it was risky, he decided to follow along with this approach for now as he believed that even these people couldn't be stupid enough to blindly antagonize anyone and everyone who walked through the door.

But…

"Who do we have here?" As soon as the two entered inside, a couple of armed men interrupted them.

Where did these guys get the guns from? Lu Chen looked at the assassin who was holding him, who answered on his behalf. "Just another wanderer."

"Oh? Is that so? Alright take him in and group him with the newest batch. The leader should be back soon and then they will be processed."

The assassin nodded his head and then directed Lu Chen to the waiting area on the ground floor which was typically used by the visitors to the apartment complex.

He then sat there along with three other men and two women who all seemed to be quite young and healthy. The assassin then left the room and Lu Chen watched him step out again.

He must be their scout with probably an invisibility skill. He had a mental note to himself.

The entire group was extremely organized. They had properly barricaded the building. They had a system in place and from the looks of it, they should also have proper accommodations as they were literally in an apartment complex.

Everything was perfectly planned and considering the speed and efficiency they had accomplished these things with, Lu Chen knew that he would only be a fool to underestimate this so-called leader.

"Have you guys been waiting here long?" He asked the two men sitting near him who were approximately in their 20s. They looked a little spooked and didn't respond properly to his question.

The other man who seemed a bit older, perhaps in his 30s was more vocal and he answered Lu Chen instead. "We were stranded at the supermarket nearby and these guys rescued us."

"So do you have any abilities?" He rubbed his hands excitedly and asked another question in return.

Lu Chen slightly frowned. "Why? Do we need abilities to be accepted here?"

"Aha Ha Ha… Don't be a naive kid. Of course, that's how things work? You either need to be someone with abilities or you need to be someone with boobs." The man obscenely demonstrated by cupping his hands in front of his chest.

Lu Chen's face changed but he quickly returned back to his normal silly self. "Aha ha ha." He chuckled at the joke that was not very funny.

He could now clearly see that among the five people, except for the slightly taller man who he had just spoken to, the others were trembling and sweating, especially the two women.

He could roughly guess the way that things were about to unfold. He didn't make any conversation after that and silently waited for the so-called 'Leader' to arrive.
