With little white safely secured in its arms, Su Yan and Lu Chen approached the elevator and pressed the button for going downstairs.

A loud whirring noise sounded indicating that the elevator was moving.

But surprisingly, even after waiting for ten minutes, the elevator was a no-show.

"That's weird!" Lu Chen worriedly exclaimed.

"I guess we are taking the stairs" Su Yan shrugged and started walking towards the staircase.

He pulled the door to the stairwell and strangely the door did not budge even an inch.

"What the heck?! How did this door get jammed? Are we trapped on our floor?"

Lu Chen was slowly losing his cool and composed exterior and starting to panic.

He propped one leg up against the wall and began to wildly pull at the door using all his strength.

Seeing that it was not working, he then started loudly banging on the door.

The stairwell door still did not open and but the apartment door right next to the stairwell sprung open.

A tall lean woman in her twenties stepped out with anger and irritation vividly visible on her sleepy face.

Clearly, the woman had just woken up due to this ruckus and was still in her pajamas.

"Why are you creating this god-awful noise, so early in the morning?"

"Great aunt, what crazy meds are you on? It's already five in the evening!"

"And both the elevator and stairwell exits are jammed." Lu Chen angrily retorted.

"Who is your aunt brat? I am just twenty-nine years young. Watch your mouth."

She then scratched her head and asked again, "Wait. What's happening? Is the elevator really jammed?"

"Damn it. I can't climb these freaking stairs again!!"

"Did you brats call the building manager yet, or the maintenance guy, or at least the security guard?"

As realization dawned on them, Su Yan smacked Lu Chen's head. "Tsk Tsk. How come we didn't do this first?"

He shifted Little white who was cozily sitting in his arms and silently observing the show, and then fished out a phone from his pocket.

Fortunately, Su Yan had the contacts saved for all the three aforementioned big shots and started calling the security guard first.

Lu Chen and the annoyed woman stared at Su Yan as the phone continued to ring without any response.

"Try the building manager". The woman suggested.

Su Yan nodded and dialed the number.

They waited patiently, but there was again no response.

"How about the maintenance guy?" Lu Chen worriedly reminded. Su Yan dialed his number as well.

Ring Ring Ring Ring.

But as soon as he dialed a loud ring tone echoed right next to them, just outside the stairwell door!!

Su Yan was stunned and he almost dropped the phone on the ground.

The other two also looked dumbfounded with their mouths wide agape.

What the hell is happening?

Su Yan then cut the call and weirdly enough the phone outside the door stopped ringing as well.

"HELLO. MR. KIM? MR. KIM?"

Lu Chen again started loudly banging the door and yelling out the maintenance guy's name.

He was baffled beyond his wits. Too many things were going wrong today!

They couldn't help but jump to the worst possible conclusion.

"Tch. Tch. Stop shouting brat. Maybe he just fainted outside. Why don't we call the ambulance or police for help?" The woman suggested.

"You... great aunt! How can you be this calm? Do you not know yet what is happening??"

"The entire human population is evolving!! Everyone has some sort of superpower now."

"Think mutants, X-men, Superman, power rangers ??? Do you get it now???"

"All the nonsensical fantasy fiction is coming true right in front of our eyes!" Lu Chen screamed at her.

The woman calmly turned to Su Yan, who seemed to be more stable than his friend, and solemnly said, "Hi. I am Alex."

"I think your friend here has completely lost it. Do you need help restraining him?"

"Restrain your mother!! Your idiot." Lu Chen huffed almost out of breath from yelling at the stupid woman in front of them.

Alex glared at the disrespectful brat. "You better shut your mouth right now."

She rolled up her sleeves and inched towards Lu Chen, with the intention of giving the angsty teenager a good beating.

"Damn it. She is beating me!!" Lu Chen was one step ahead. He ran and hid behind Su Yan before Alex could even get near him.

"Ok. Enough. Enough. Both of you, please stop."

Su Yan furrowed his brows in tiredness and stopped the situation from progressing any further.

Woof. Woof.

Even Little white was annoyed with the two imbeciles, acting out mindlessly when the entire world is turning upside down.

Su Yan quickly tapped something on his phone and showed it to Alex.

Since she had just woken up, she probably was not aware of the things that had been happening around them.
