《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 454: The Phoenix Inheritance Ground 2

7 days passed in a flash.
Princess Lan Yi Hua looked at Lin Xiao and felt trepidation whenever she recalled the past few days. It was the first time in her life that she felt absorbing so much Qi was instead so burdensome that she didn't wish to refine them at all.
But if she didn't want to die, she had to refine them.
Thus, she worked so hard to refine all of them and achieved her breakthrough to Golden Core Stage 6. As long as she could obtain the phoenix inheritance once more, she knew that she would be able to advance again.
That would be the same as skipping the tribulation.
In front of her, Prince Lin San was not in any better condition. He was fully stuffed with the Qi that his skin turned red. If not because he managed to refine them quickly, he would have died.
Thankfully, he also advanced to Golden Core Stage 6 in the process.
On the other hand…
"Why are you the only one who didn't manage to advance?" Princess Lan Yi Hua looked at her husband with curiosity.
Lin Xiao let out a bitter smile. It was the very question that he actually wanted to ask. The three of them have the same amount of Qi that they absorbed but why didn't he manage to advance?
Lin Hu had even helped him to refine them!
"I think… I need another day."
Princess Lan Yi Hua and Prince Lin San blinked their eyes. They looked at the number at the side and saw that it had turned to 0. If Lin Xiao stayed here any longer, it would surely attract others to come.
"We need to go or there will be others who come."
Lin Xiao sighed. As much as he wanted to stay and try his luck to advance to Golden Core Stage 6, he knew that his time was up. He was vehemently complaining to the dragon within his consciousness who had absorbed the majority of the Qi that he gathered.

As they walked out, they all sensed faint differences.
The ancient power and Qi in this place had been thinning out. The difference was faint but they knew that if Lin Xiao did it again… the place might not even last long.
With that in thought, they all turned to look at Lin Xiao.
Lin Xiao's lips twitched. "What are you looking at, ah? It's just some Qi and ancient power. No one will notice that it's because of me."
"Right, they're also training…"
But still, the percentage that was used by Lin Xiao must have been a lot. If not, there wouldn't be such decrease of concentration in the air.
Princess Lan Yi Hua then turned her head to one side. "The Phoenix Inheritance ground is over there. I'll go first."
"Alright."
Lin Xiao watched as Princess Lan Yi Hua left before turning to look at Prince Lin San. "I'm going to find another chamber to train. What about you?"
Prince Lin San had the feeling that if he was forced to follow Lin Xiao, he would end up killing himself because of stuffing too much Qi. He shook his head rapidly. "I'll be searching for other opportunities."
"Alright."
Swish!
Prince Lin San left as fast as possible while Lin Xiao picked another new chamber. This time, the number written was 30 days…
Upon seeing that, Lin Xiao had the urge to smash the rock open. But he knew that the chamber was formed by array, so it would be impossible.
Lin Hu laughed out loudly. 'WAHAHAHAHAH! 30 more days of refining Qi. You sure have good luck!'
'Damn you!'
Lin Xiao was in bad mood as he cut off the connection and looked around the chamber. This time, the place was not empty as he noticed a rack and also a bottle over there. Walking closer, he noticed that there was a liquid inside the bottle.

"What is this?"
"Lightning Essence. It can help you to advance to Golden Core Stage 7 from Golden Core Stage 6."
"Oh?" Lin Xiao was surprised. "That means I don't need to accumulate Qi anymore?"
"Yes, but Lightning Essence is very rare." Lin Hu rolled his eyes. "There are only few places where it can be gathered in and only limited number of people can get it."
"Then why didn't anyone get it in the past?"
"Why are you asking me? I don't think anyone will be stupid enough like you to enter the chamber without checking inside first." Lin Hu was speechless by Lin Xiao's question.
It was then Lin Xiao realized that they must have inspected it first. 30 days were too long and if they were trapped inside for a long time, they would be missing on other treasures. Not everyone was like him and didn't care about other treasures.
"Well, in any case, I now have method to advance faster."
"Huh uh."
"Heaven and earth, please listen to my humble request. Gather the Qi into our body and helps us to advance. Allow us to grow stronger faster."
With that, Lin Xiao entered another state of rapid training.
In the second day, he advanced to Golden Core Stage 6 and after resting for a while, he drank the Lightning Essence and successfully made his breakthrough to Golden Core Stage 7.
Lin Hu was dissing him, though, saying that he was mad for trying to advance so quickly like that. But with his body overflowing with Qi, it was obvious that advancing helped him to absorb Qi faster and contained more Qi. That way, the risk of him exploding lessened greatly.
Advancing from Stage 7 to 8 required a lot of Qi, so Lin Xiao continued his mad dash by using the ancient power to drag the Qi into his body.
Thus, in the 28th day, Lin Xiao successfully advanced to Golden Core Stage 8.
He had officially entered the rank of geniuses from many other kingdoms. But of course, it was still not enough.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
