《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 393: I Have No Interest

Fan Ling humped, her tone was filled with disdain. "Coward!"
Fan Pei's face turned dark but he couldn't say anything else. If one were to list their names based on their strength, he was undoubtedly the weakest out of the three of them. He wouldn't be able to do anything if either one of them wanted to beat him up.
"You bully!"
"Tsk." Fan Ling clicked her tongue, clearly not in the mood to quarrel with her double faced cousin anymore. She passed a glance at Fan Pei before she leapt out of the arena towards Lin Xiao.
She lowered her head and then said in low voice, "Fan Ling failed to fulfill your mission, Your Highness. Please punish me."
"It's fine." Lin Xiao waved his hand. He was merely looking at Fan Pan in the arena and thought for a moment. "I'll no longer pester you about your position in Fan Family, but I would like to trade one blow with Fan Pan if you will allow me."
In the past, it was only natural that Lin Xiao had sparred with Fan Ling. However, she couldn't match up to him anymore, so it was not that fun to spar with her. Now, he was a bit curious about Fan Pan's strength.
"One blow?" Fan Pan repeated. He looked at Lin Xiao before he cupped his hand. "If Your Highness wished for it, I would naturally not mind in the slightest bit."
Despite acting respectful, Lin Xiao could sense the deep rooted pride that existed within Fan Pan. As a genius, it was clear that he was also someone who was also very prideful and would not bow down his head easily.
He smiled. "Thank you."
With a faint step, he had arrived in the arena. The Moon Evasion Skill was displayed to the perfection even without anyone to guide him and this was not his fastest speed. There was no way Lin Xiao would show his trump card so easily. The others were all stunned to see Lin Xiao appeared several meters away.

Did he use movement skill?
Why did they not notice anything?
A realization struck the younger generations as they looked at Lin Xiao in horror. If they couldn't even see his movement, how would they supposed to block his attack and defend themselves?
It was very likely that they would die even without knowing why.
"This…." Old Master Fan was dumbstruck. He didn't know whether he should approve them or not.
Fan Ling looked at her grandfather and urged him, "It's just one punch, Grandpa. There's no way they will be wounded badly if it's just one punch."
You mean one attack.
Both Lu Jian and Princess Lan Yi Hua looked at Fan Ling but didn't voice out their correction. They knew that Fan Ling purposely said that to mislead others into thinking that it would just be a harmless exchange.
Old Master Fan sighed. "Be careful you two. Ready? START!"
Unlike before where Fan Ling immediately leapt forward from the moment the word start was said. The two young men were standing on their places and looked at each other without any intention to do sneak attack.
"Would you like to attack first?" Fan Pan asked in light tone.
Lin Xiao arched his eyebrows. "Would you allow me."
"That'll depend on your attack."
"In that case, I won't be polite."
Taking out his sword, Lin Xiao began to channel his Qi. After entering Golden Core Stage, his Qi had grown richer and the skills he could display with his swords increased rapidly. One of them was obviously the Chilling Lake Sword.
"Be careful."
In that moment, the temperature seemed to drop several degrees as the ordinary Fan Family members began to feel cold. Still, they all started intently to the arena as if they were afraid that they would miss any detail.

Chilling Lake Sword, Fourth Stance!
The fourth move was not supposed to drop the temperature that much but Lin Xiao's understanding of the move coupled with his suitable Qi pushed the technique to display beyond its rank.
Swish!
Fan Pan's eyes narrowed as a sword appeared on his hand. It was clear that he had kept his sword away in his Spatial Ring and didn't plan to use it in this exchange. However, he had to use his sword if he wanted to fend off Lin Xiao's attack.
The sword was instantly covered in flames before it moved swiftly.
CLANG!
The two swords met in the middle as ice and fire spreads to the two sides.
Crack! Bang!
"Gah!"
The ground on the arena was destroyed, half scorched and the other half was covered in ice. It was a contrasting sight and those who were in the middle felt that half of their body was hit by both hot and cold wave.
It was damn painful!
Not to mention, these two were basically very powerful and those who were under Golden Core Stage 1 stage would definitely feel it the most.
They would suffer greatly when they were in front of them.
Swish!
The two sides didn't last long in their locked exchange as they jumped back to their original position. Their robes swayed by the wind but aside from their slightly rough breathing, there was no other changes.
It seemed that the two of them didn't seem to be intent on finishing the fight and really only tried to gauge each other's strength.
"You're really strong, Young Master Fan." Lin Xiao cupped his fist. "I won't bother you anymore, then. Thank you for fulfilling my selfish wish."
Listening to Lin Xiao speaking so formal, Lin Yun felt goosebumps. Over the past few months, Lin Xiao did learn some etiquette but really...
It didn't match his image!
Fan Pan cupped his fist back. "You're also strong, Your Highness."
"Big Brother, now that you're Fan Family successor, you can choose to kick Fan Ling out!" Fan Pei added from the sides.
Fan Ling felt like beating up that annoying cousin of hers once more. Couldn't he stay silent at this time?
But Fan Pan's answer startled them.
"I'm not interested."

The Anthology
This is my collection of short stories. I ask what stories would my audience like to read and write whatever they post in the comments. I strive for more than two dimensional characters and I like to make my stories somewhat unique. The first six entries are my experiment to just write without stopping and see what comes out. They can serve as an introduction for the reader to me as a thinker and writer. Although it should be known that the majority of those entries were written in a foggy state of mind. Entry seven is where my short stories begin.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
