"We're mercenary from Sun Kingdom," Prince Lin Yan took his identification letter. He handed it to the guards who read the letter seriously. After a minute, they handed it back and nodded.

"Thank you." Prince Lin Yan smiled and slipped a coin when he took the letter back. The guard's expression didn't change but there was a faint glimmer in his eyes when he sensed the coins.

As the group entered the city, Lin Xiao asked, "Why do you do that?"

"It's to earn their favorable impression. Mercenary are the one who can travel between countries easily so it's hard to know whether they're spies or not. Because of that, those high ranked noble will usually do some background check to make sure that the person they're facing comes from their country."
