《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 235: Conversation

Though going against them now openly was quite stupid, that was just how Lin Xiao was. And this was made Prince Lin San wanted to figure out more about this fifth prince who might ascend the throne.
While Prince Lin San could see the truth, Prince Lin Xian was different. After all, he didn't use the dragon power within his body to strengthen his eyes and rather, he used them to strengthen his body. This allowed him to be stronger than most of the people of his peer and might be able to contend against the ninth prince.
Not that he wanted to, though.
With his puny little Dragon power and no qualification to even open that door, Prince Lin Xian knew his place and just tried to get stronger. He didn't want to be used like a puppet by the prince who would ascend the throne later.
Lin Xiao arched his eyebrows. "Your ability is truly peculiar."
Prince Lin San chuckled. He looked at Lin Xiao with curiosity. "So, is Lin Xiao your real name or…."
"It's real. I lived in the remote village for most of my lives and I don't even remember when I first come there and lived with his parents," Lin Xiao said while pointing at Lin Yun beside him.
Lin Yun was keeping a straight face, but he was ready to attack in case Lin Xiao was in any danger. While the amount of Qi they have was lesser compared to the two princes, they should be able to run with their movement skill.
Prince Lin San raised his head and looked at Lin Yun. "Both of you are princes, at least, you both have Royal blood. However, is he truly your real brother?"
Lin Xiao smiled but didn't answer. Internally, he was quite shocked, though. He had thought that Lin Yun's parent picked him up because of coincidence but as it turned out, Lin Yun's parent was also royalty?

Lin Yun looked at Prince Lin San. "Why should we tell you?"
Prince Lin San looked at his older brother, who was keeping a straight face. But living with his older brother for years, he obviously knew that his older brother was confused why his younger brother suddenly acted politely towards this young man. After all, Lin Xiao was known for going against Prince Lin Kai.
"That's because if you want to aim for the throne, I'll rather pick you."
"Huh?" Prince Lin Xian was stunned and looked at his younger brother in shock. Prince Lin San's ability was so peculiar that no other people could possibly duplicate. To be able to see the truth beneath any mask was a skill that many people wished they could achieve in their entire life.
However, it required strict requirement in their mental state. Prince Lin San was one of the few who had fulfilled the requirement and decided to head in that direction. This allowed him to have the pair of eyes that was strengthened with dragon power and could see beneath the truth.
If his younger brother suddenly said something like that… did it mean that Lin Xiao actually had more qualification to ascend the throne more than the other four princes?
While Prince Lin Xian's mind was filled with questions, Lin Xiao looked at Prince Lin San. "What makes you think that I want to ascend the throne?"
"You're going against the other four princes covertly and openly. From what I see, the only reason why you want to go against them is because you know that you're aiming for the throne. And based on the dragon power that I can sense in your body… you're far superior than all four of them." Prince Lin San was blunt.

Lin Xiao pursed his lips. Of course he was superior. With a real life dragon in his consciousness, he knew for sure that there couldn't be anyone to rival him except if they meet someone who had also obtained the Emperor's Inheritance and wished to fight against Lin Xiao.
But of course, the land was so vast that it was almost impossible to find another True Emperor again.
'Lin Hu, should I trust him?'
'Ask him to pledge with his heart and strength. That's the only way you can possibly trust Royal Family member.'
"I see. But how can I trust a Royal Family members like you?" Lin Xiao asked with a faint smile on his lips.
"Am I correct?" Prince Lin San asked in urgent expression.
Lin Xiao faintly nodded.
In that moment, Prince Lin San smiled brightly then bowed down. He looked at Lin Xiao with sincere expression. "In that case, I, Lin San, pledge to never try to take the throne over Lin Xiao should he become the Emperor and shall help him to become the Emperor. Should I break this oath, may the Heaven kill me."
"Lin San." Prince Lin Xian was stunned.
Prince Lin San ignored his brother while Lin Xiao was looking at Prince Lin San with interest. There was faint Qi moving around his body after he had made the oath as if the Heaven was responding to his request.
It was interesting.
'Is that flow of Qi mark that the oath is taken by the Heaven?'
'Yes. With the Heaven as the witness, there's no way Lin San can ever go back on his words.' Lin Hu looked at the young prince while nodding his head. 'He's not cultivating the eyes of truth for nothing.'
Eyes of truth.
Lin Xiao had heard about it, but he didn't expect that what Prince Lin San used was precisely that technique. Looking at the prince before him, Lin Xiao felt that he had truly gained a remarkable follower.
With Prince Lin San helping him, he might be able to gain foothold in the Royal Family.
"Your Highness!"
Those outside were completely stunned and called out like crazy. They couldn't believe that Prince Lin San would bow down to someone other than his parents. After all, they all knew how proud these Royal Family members were.

Fermboi was a man of one ideal: make the weak strong. When his rebellion against the king proved futile, he was given another chance at life. This time, he sought to do nothing after realizing the hopelessness of it all. Aventina wanted to do nothing more than to follow her father’s footsteps. On a retaliation raid against her tribe’s enemies, her brothers perished. Spared by a leader of her enemies, she returned home to find herself the chief of her tribe. Bolahulag, half-civilized and half-barbarian, half-lowborn and half-royal. Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
