《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 87: I’ll Help You

Lin Xiao's face turned solemn. He knew that the mark on his forehead was very visible to anyone, so he quickly readied his stance. Internally, he was grieving. He couldn't even see Shopkeeper Wang's movement….
"You should lower your fist. I'm not here to kill you," Shopkeeper Wang said leisurely. His tone sounded as if he was merely talking about weather and not the decision to kill someone.
It was a bit… strange.
From the very first, Lin Xiao had thought that Shopkeeper Wang was an eccentric person, but he had never thought of Shopkeeper Wang as someone with high cultivation. After all, he had never seen Shopkeeper Wang train or even fought with others.
But thinking about it again, Shopkeeper Wang had so many valuable resources. If he was not strong enough to protect his goods, it would be impossible for him to become a merchant. There were so many valuable items that he showed from time to time yet Lin Xiao never realized this point.
"How can I trust you?" Lin Xiao asked back while his body was ready to move. While it was a bit dangerous to perform Moon Evasion in such terrain, he had already trained himself to do that from time to time.
He had so much free time, after all.
"If I want to kill you, I wouldn't only take your headband," Shopkeeper Wang replied once more.
Well, true.
With the power that Shopkeeper Wang had, Lin Xiao knew that he was not the other party's match. If Shopkeeper Wang had wanted to kill him, it would not be the headband that the other party targeted but his neck.
Albeit unwilling, Lin Xiao lowered his fist. "What do you want?"
"First, let me punch you."
"WHAT?"
Thud!
Lin Xiao only felt slight push. He grabbed the rock to balance himself and looked down. There was palm mark on his chest. Even though it was unclear, Lin Xiao knew that Shopkeeper Wang had made his move just now.

But the other party had to restrain himself.
Looking at the aggrieved Shopkeeper Wang, Lin Xiao wanted to yell loudly. "What is that for?"
"I can't believe that the snot nosed troublemaker brat in front of me is the Emperor that I have to serve," Shopkeeper Wang said in aggrieved tone. When he checked the villagers one by one for the past few months, he had known that not a single one of them was the one who triggered the inheritance.
He had been trying to convince himself that it must be a traveler who passed by the village and entered the lake. However, he recalled that there were still two brats he had checked. Even though he was unwilling to believe that they were the one selected, he still checked in case he was wrong.
Before he met with Lin Xiao, he had been trying to chant inside his mind and 99% convinced that it shouldn't be Lin Xiao.
But that headband made him waver.
As he removed the headband and looked at the obvious mark of the crown, Shopkeeper Wang felt like crying.
Why?
WHY?
Why did it have to be this brat?
From all people he knew, why did it have to be this troublemaker? It was far better if the one who got it was Lin Yun because that brat behaved better than Lin Xiao. While this one… Shopkeeper Wang felt like he should lit a candle for the kingdom's future.
Lin Xiao's face turned dark. "DO YOU THINK I WANT TO BEOCME AN EMPEROR?"
"THAT MARK IS ALREADY OBVIOUS ENOUGH!"
"IT'S AN ACCIDENT!"
"YOU'RE STILL GOING TO BE THE EMPEROR!" Shopkeeper Wang shouted back, feeling utterly aggrieved. "And to think that I have to be the one to guide you now… I really wished that I can turn back time."

Lin Xiao's lips twitched. He also wanted to stop his foolish self who entered the lake without even knowing about the truth. If only he knew that Emperor Inheritance was actually a method to pick out the next Emperor, he would stay away from that place forever.
His talent increased, yes.
But he had to become an Emperor!
That was very upsetting.
Shopkeeper Wang sighed. "Anyway, you need to start your education. There are a lot of people who are after the Emperor's seat. While you've indeed been selected by the Heaven, it'll be useless if people don't want you as the Emperor."
Lin Xiao's lips twitched. He had been thinking about that since a long time ago, but he couldn't find anything that could help him to nurture himself to become a better Emperor. After all, he himself was not sure what quality needed to become an Emperor.
A leader?
He honestly didn't know how he could become a proper leader. All this time, only Wenren Yu and Lin Yun were under his lead and moved according to what he said.
Power?
He was still in Body Training Stage. Even normal Foundation Establishment Stage would be able to defeat him easily.
"You'll help me?" Lin Xiao asked hesitantly.
Shopkeeper Wang nodded. "Yes, from now on, call me Elder Wang."
Elder Wang?
Feeling weird with the sudden method of calling, Lin Xiao sighed himself to his fate. It would really be a long way to go to become an Emperor. "Elder Wang."

The Ancient Core: A Progression Fantasy
The title of [The Ancient One] is bestowed upon an unassuming, forgotten Core. Hidden deep underground, it lies in wait, biding its time as it learns the rules of its surroundings. Roaming beasts and unknown threats surely threaten the little rock as it sticks to the darkness, its one true refuge. This is a slow-burning Dungeon-Core fiction with a LitRPG-System. You can expect an extreme amount of kingdom-building, an more in-depth Mana-System, and a Evolution-System. Chapters are between the length of 2-4k words, though the first 50 will likely be closer to 4k. Anything after will have the average be 2.5k. I personally like explaining how things work a lot, so do have that in mind if you decide to read this fiction. A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
