《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 68: Hostility

Elder Xu looked at Lin Xiao with arched eyebrows. There was faint coldness within his eyes that started to emerge. As someone with high status in the village, he was also someone with pride. No one dared to say no to him in the past.
And now Lin Xiao dared to?
"Do you know what you're saying to me, Lin Xiao?"
The tone was still amiable as if Elder Xu was not angry yet he was only advising. However, Lin Xiao knew how shrewd the elders in the village was. Even though they were showing smile and also spoke in kindhearted tone, the truth was that they were harboring deep grudge.
They would be unwilling to be treated impolitely by Lin Xiao.
However, Lin Xiao also had no intention of selling himself. Hell, he was sure that Elder Xu would also impose him to be loyal to Xu Qin like a dog.
He hated that thought.
"I'm a free man, Elder Xu. Besides, there's no way I'll like someone who hated me so much," Lin Xiao replied openly, not afraid of offending Elder Xu.
By this time, he felt that there was no need for him to hold back anymore. He had already offended Elder Su. Offending another elder wouldn't make that much difference to him.
'I'll leave.'
At this time, Lin Xiao had already decided within his heart that he would leave as fast as possible when it was the time. There was no need for him to stay in this rotten village anymore.
"Good, good, good, do you really think that I'll take no as an answer?" Elder Xu's Qi began to swell around his body.
Lin Xiao's eyes narrowed. He could sense that Elder Xu was even stronger than Su Hei. It was not that weird, though, considering the difference in age and experience. While Elder Xu would not advance much anymore in the future, he was also someone who used to fight a lot in his youth.

"Are you sure you want to do this, Elder Xu?" Lin Xiao sneered.
"Oh, you're not afraid?"
Swish! Bang!
Initiating Moon Evasion, Lin Xiao evaded the attack. His eyes were cold, but he knew that he was not a match against Elder Xu. Thankfully, he had sneakily learned Moon Evasion from watching the performance of those disciples before.
With his skill, he rushed over to the location of the cliff.
"You won't be able to run!"
Lin Xiao snorted and grabbed a handful of sand before throwing it in the direction of Elder Xu.
"Guh!"
With the speed Elder Xu was going, he failed to escape from the scattering sand in time. With his vision slightly blocked, he quickly initiated his Qi and dispersed the sand from him. But the slight delay allowed Lin Xiao to create a distance from the two of them.
Lin Xiao no longer looked to the back and upon reaching the hanging roots, he quickly picked one. He was very clear which hanging root was safe and which one was not. With that he swung to the other side.
"LIN XIAO!"
"Bleh!"
By this time, Lin Xiao was glad that he had asked Wenren Yu and Lin Yun to escape to the mountain. Sticking his tongue to Elder Xu, he could see that the elder's face turned a shade darker.
Lin Xiao ignored the elder and continued to run.
'Where should I go?'
The village was clearly out of the question because there would be too many people who might try to kill him. The two elders' influence would be more than enough for them to make move.
'In that case…'
Looking at the north, Lin Xiao recalled the beast that could even make the three representatives ran away. Determination flashed within his eyes. If he could hide in that place and let Elder Xu provoked the beast, he would be able to stay safe.

In that case, he just had to run.
"#$%^&*(!"
From his back, Lin Xiao could hear series of cursing from Elder Xu. He was trying to cross the cliff by using the hanging root like what Lin Xiao did. However, the hanging root that he picked snapped right after he used it.
If not for his quick reflex to grab another one, he would have fallen. The snapping sound from above him caused his heart to sunk.
Snap!
"$%^&*(*$%^&!"
Series of curses filled the entire place as Elder Xu frantically grabbed several hanging roots at the same time. Afterwards, he had to work hard to swing his aged body to reach the other side.
He was still cursing when he saw that Lin Xiao was already far away. The disadvantage he had because of the hanging root was painfully clear.
Swish!
The two of them continued to run in the forest.
Lin Xiao was still thinking about the fact that there was no beast in this area of forest when he heard sudden screams from behind. He turned around and saw a large monkey pounced onto Elder Xu.
'Eh, there's animal?'
"Get away from me!" Elder Xu roared and started attacking that monkey as fast as possible.
Looking at himself that didn't get attacked at all, Lin Xiao had the feeling that the animals somehow didn't dislike him. The thought gave him a bold idea.
'How about if I attract all the beasts to Elder Xu?'

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)
