《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 47: Visit

Lin Xiao was forced to rest for the day by Lin Yun and Wenren Yu. They would not allow him to move around with his wounded body, so Lin Xiao had no other choice but to stay on his bed for rest of the day.
The next day, he had already felt better, but they still didn't allow him to get out.
"The three representatives are going to hold the test, right?" Lin Xiao asked as he sat down on his bed. He was already feeling much better. Normally, he would have already jumped around, but this time, he stayed on the bed obediently.
Lin Yun nodded. "You don't have any plan to join, right?"
"Nope, but if I'm not wrong, there are two others who are also wounded hard yesterday. Along with several others who had minor injuries."
Aside from Su Han, Su Hei was also wounded quite badly. Luo Lan truly didn't know the word lenience when he was excited. As for Bai Xin, she only stopped when she was facing Xu Qin.
For others, they were beaten up black and blue.
"Su Han should be fine since Luo Lan gives him medicine."
"How about Su Hei?" Lin Xiao tilted his head. After being hated by the villagers thanks to Lin Xiao's schemes, Su Hei wouldn't be in good condition anymore. He must be thinking for a method to make sure he could participate.
Lin Yun shrugged. "Good for him if he can't join."
"Heh."
The two of them didn't like the Su siblings, so they didn't comment any further. Aside from practicing Qi inside his room, Lin Xiao basically didn't do anything for the day. Lin Yun and Wenren Yu took over the work he usually did except for hunting.
They didn't dare to enter the forest alone like Lin Xiao.

"Lin Xiao, Lin Yun!"
The call from outside startled the three of them. Lin Yun motioned for Wenren Yu to hide inside his room while he walked out of the house and glanced out. He could see a young man waving his hand to them.
Lin Yun arched his eyebrows. "What are you doing here this evening?"
"The elders are asking why you don't join. In addition, they also send some meat for you." the young man explained.
Looking at the meat on the young man's hand, Lin Yun knew that it was the leftover from yesterday's feast. The three representatives didn't finish all the food the villagers prepared so the elders chose to distribute the rest.
It was no longer as good as yesterday, but it was still edible.
"Many thanks to the elder," Lin Yun said without any chance in tone. There was no hint of gratitude from his voice.
The young man didn't seem to care that much. He put down the small bag contained the food on the ground. "The three representatives are going to hold the test for a week's time. If you're interested, you can join at later time since your brother is injured."
"How are the others?"
"They're fine. Some who are still wounded will be tested at later time."
Lin Yun nodded. Not everyone got medicine and it was impossible for Luo Lan to give medicine that will allow Su Han to recover instantly. That kind of medicine was terribly expensive and would never be wasted on people like them.
"What are the tests?"
"Oh? We're taught skills by the elders and then they're going to test how fast we learn the skills."
Hearing that, Lin Yun arched his eyebrows. Were the representatives truly that generous to share their skills to the villagers? He felt that things were not simple, but he couldn't think of anything.

"Which skill?"
Turning his head to the back, Lin Yuns saw Lin Xiao walked to the edge of the door. He frowned. "Brother, you should rest!"
"I'm fine." Lin Xiao waved his hand in nonchalant attitude. He looked as if he was totally fine without any hint of injury. "Which skill did they teach?"
"Tiger's Punch and Moon Evasion."
Moon Evasion?
From what Lin Xiao knew, it was one of the main skills for those who came from Yue Da Sect. There shouldn't be any way they would showcased their skills and allowed the villagers to learn those skills.
"Really?"
"Yes. It's true. You can come to the village tomorrow to see the skill if you want tomorrow," the young man said with a grin.
"I see. Thank you for the information."
"You're welcome."
Lin Yun waited for the young man to leave before he turned around to look at his brother. He arched his eyebrows. "Brother, please don't tell me that you want to look at the skill that they showcased."
"It's a perfect time for us to learn other skills. Even though so, I was hoping that they're going to show that Snake Counterattack so that you can learn too," Lin Xiao said with a hint of disappointment.
Lin Yun shook his head. He could guess that Snake Counterattack might be harder to learn compared to other skills. Just showing the other two skills were already good enough for them to learn much more than what they previously knew.
"Brother, so you plan to go?"
"Of course!"
"Brother, you're still wounded!"
"This kind of wound is nothing. There's no need for you to worry so much about that!"
"That's not the point!"

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.

Brightburn - A LITRPG apocalypse
Oliver never imagined that as he raced to drop off his best friend at fencing practice before going to work at his part-time job, the world would flood with magic, and change in a fantastical and unimaginable way, giving him the opportunity to adventure with friends, new and old. Well, that wasn't true, he had imagined something close to that scenario many times, but when it comes true? Well, it wasn't quite as he imagined, there was a lot more pain involved, and a surprising degree of waiting and walking, not to mention the friends, new and old, lost along the way. But even so, Oliver still hopes it can be fun, and even if it isn't, it will certainly be the adventure of a life time.
