《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 21: Hunt or Be Hunted?
Hunting was always a game of patience and luck. It was not everyone someone could see a lot of beasts and animals coming in their direction, willingly to get killed. That would be very ridiculous.
Except if the animal was running away from another big predator, they wouldn't come obediently in the direction of a hunter.
Lin Xiao silently travelled in the quiet forest. The sound of cicada could be heard from a distance. Aside from the sound of birds near him, Lin Xiao heard nothing else. It was very quiet in the forest.
The river was already quite far behind him. Lin Xiao chose to travel beyond the river, crossing it in hope that he would have a better chance when he ventured even deeper. Normally, he wouldn't dare to cross this far, but he wanted to test whether he had what it takes to survive out here or not.
Plus, he needed meat.
'That Su sibling would surely hijack the price of meat if I try to go and buy the meat in the village.'
Thinking of the two Su siblings, Lin Xiao felt his mood worsened, but he quickly adjusted his condition. There was no need for him to bother with those annoying duo. Right now, he just had to focus to be able to get enough meat for him, his brother, and obviously the stranded Wenren Yu.
*rustle*
Hearing the faint sound of movement, Lin Xiao stopped his movements and hid behind the tree. His eyes carefully looked around him, trying to find the source of the voice. There was nothing around, not within his field of vision at the very least.
Gripping his bow tightly, Lin Xiao stayed still.
There were many times hunters have to wait for their prey because it was not easy for them to meet even one.

They have to wait for the right chance….
Just as he was thinking, Lin Xiao finally saw the creature that he was watching. It came out from the bushes and showed its dark brown color of fur. The large built of the bull could easily invoke fear to whoever saw it. The immense pressure was clear in the day and would probably crush everyone who dared to come closer.
Lin Xiao felt like his soul was leaving his body at this moment.
His first day trying to hunt by himself aside from trying to fish yesterday and he already met a rank 1 beast?
Normal animal could not create pressure when they show themselves. Only those who had already absorbed enough Qi from the world would be able to generate the pressure around their body, which would serve as a method to instill fear and provocation to their enemies.
'Should he run?'
But Lin Xiao knew that just by meeting this large bull this time had already spelled his death. He wanted to run far far away from here, but felt that even if he ran, he wouldn't be as fast as the bull.
What should he do?
Moo!
The bull suddenly spoke out. The sound looked so docile and cute, yet the effect was that the trees shook due to the sheer pressure from its voice alone. The surroundings small animals quickly hid within their nest, unwilling to get out no matter what. The bigger animal had already run away as far as possible.
Lin Xiao pushed away any hesitation he had as he began to inch backwards. His eyes were still glued to the large bull, worrying that the large bull would suddenly attack him with no moment of notice.
One step
Two steps.
…
After a few steps, Lin Xiao managed to create several meters of distance between him and that large bull. Keeping his presence as low as possible, Lin Xiao was trying his best to not attract the bull's attention.

But at this time, the bull suddenly turned its head in Lin Xiao's direction.
Two pairs of eyes, one belonged to a bull and one belonged to human, were looking at each other.
'Sh*t!'
Moo!
The bull roared with its cute voice while Lin Xiao turned around and ran as fast as possible. His mind was cursing with all kind of profanities he could think of as he ran towards the direction of the river again.
'Where should I go?'
Moo!
The bull rampaged and destroyed all trees before its pat. Despite the voice it made sounded as if it was nothing more than a weak bull, Lin Xiao knew better than anyway.
Its voice was truly tricky.
How in the world this bull even managed to get such cute voice?
Lin Xiao's mind was wandering around as he sped up, trying to ignore the thought that he might die at this very moment from that fake voice bull who kept on tricking people with its voice.
'It's getting closer?'
The pressure behind him was getting bigger and bigger. Lin Xiao looked around him and noticed a thin yet tall tree not far from him. He got an idea when he saw that as he pulled the hanging root that he carried around. Carrying rope or in this case, hanging root, was important because it could save one's life.
He circled the root to another tree as fast as possible. Afterwards, he kicked a bigger tree and grabbed that thin yet tall tree then climbed up. The thin trunk was bent over with Lin Xiao on top of it and it was getting harder to bent the tree with the help of the root. By now, Lin Xiao was getting nearer to the ground and the bull was close.
'This will hurt.'
Lin Xiao decisively released his grip over the root and the tree returned back to its original position while Lin Xiao was flying on the air.
Moo?
The bull was stunned to see a flying human.

The boy who fell in love with a tree
This is a story about a boy who fell in love with a tree… A story about powerful people changing the rulebook to stack the odds and line their pockets… I aim to create a story that will transport us so we get a glimpse of what that boy felt. The first 4 Chapters might be classified as a prologue depending on how you look at it. The boy quickly grows and the story really starts when the System arrives on Earth. I’m trying to achieve a relatively slow power progression and guide what we learn at a pace following the people in the story. There will be fighting but It’s more focused on base building. The MC is not all-powerful and all-knowing but he has some significant advantages. I’m trying to create a universe that makes sense in its own context. Much of what you will find, are my own world views, in a magnified way, as to make it for interesting fiction. The story took a life of its own when I started to write and I’m really happy with it. Not all of the tags I have marked will immediately be applied. There is stuff planned for far in the future such as the Sci-fi tag. There might be some cursing and gore but it is not very often. -------------- English is not my primary language, so I ask everyone to be forgiving. If you see a glaring error I would appreciate a msg but it is not feasible to fix everything. And if the story offends you, I wish you happiness, reading what you enjoy. ------------- Img link: https://unsplash.com/photos/EwKXn5CapA4
