《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 14: The North Lake

"What did you get?" A villager asked impatiently.
Lin Xiao carelessly tossed the token and let the villager saw the word that was written on top of it. He looked over to Su Han. "What's the test for water?"
"Water?" Su Han was taken aback. There was barely any hunting that was done in the water because it was dangerous. However, Su Han knew that there was a large lake located at the north of the village.
The lake was connected to a dangerous waterfall and also the small rivers. Getting water meant that the test would be to fish.
"You should go to the north and fish."
"Fish?"
This time, Lin Xiao was the one taken aback. He had never fished in the past because the small river barely contained any fish. If he wanted to fish, he would have to walk for over two hours to the north, which was also far beyond the village.
It was considered as a dangerous area.
Su Han grinned when he thought that Lin Xiao had to go alone to that place. He pointed to the basket at the side. "You should go. If you're too late, you won't be able to return back before it's late."
And no one wanted to stay outside the village when it was night time.
Looking at the basket, Lin Xiao nodded. "How many fishes I need to get so that I can be considered passing the test."
"One is enough."
One?
Lin Xiao felt as if they were insulting him if they only asked for one fish. Who would want to travel so far away just to get one fish that could barely fill their belly?
Probably because the expression on his face was so obvious, a villager reminded him. "It's not that easy to fish in this area, Little Xiao. Even after waiting for hours, you might not even get one fish."

"Oh."
True enough. The villagers here barely have any fish. Most of the time, the meat they had would be rabbit's meat or some other animals that they managed to hunt. As for fish… it might have been considered quiet the luxury since the lake was far.
The small river where they took water most of the time would only be enough for them to drink and wash each day. If they wanted to fish there… they might be hoping for miracle since there was no fish passing by.
"I'll be going now!" Lin Xiao rushed out of the hunting squad area and lightly ran. His speed had increased ever since he advanced to body training rank 5, so he might be able to finish even earlier.
"Ops."
Swish!
Lin Xiao switched his body's movement. He saw Xu Qin was walking to the hunting squad's area. Her face turned red when she realized that Lin Xiao nearly crashed onto her.
"Watch where you're going, Idiot!"
"I can say the same to you!" Lin Xiao shouted back. He waved his hand. "I'm in a hurry, so sorry!"
"You!"
There was not even any hint of remorse within Lin Xiao's tone. Xu Qin glared dagger at the young man then turned around. She humped indignantly internally as she always hated the fact that Lin Xiao was the only one who dared to ignore her in this village.
When Su Han saw Xu Qin, the dark lines in his face disappeared almost instantly. He swiftly moved over and smiled brightly. "Xu Qin! What can I help you?"
Xu Qin raised her head to look at Su Han's face. Seeing his fawning face, she felt much better. Things were supposed to be like this. "I…."
The two of them talked a bit before they went on their own way.

Swish!
Lin Xiao rushed through the forest while making sure that he didn't encounter any beast. Travelling alone in the forest was dangerous. There was almost no certainty that they would come out alive once they came into the north forest.
'My luck is always so bad,' Lin Xiao thought to himself. But he was also curious about the north lake. Since his test today was there, there was nothing wrong with him checking the area too.
Of course, only if there was still enough time left.
Swish!
'I still can go faster.'
Lin Xiao's eyes gleamed as he exerted more force into his legs. This was the first time he tested his speed because he rarely left the village aside from going to the mountain that was not far from his residence. Going this far, Lin Xiao just noticed that his speed had grown much faster than before.
When he reached rank 6 later, would he become even faster?
Lin Xiao was eager to find out about it.
Splash! Brrr!
The sound of waterfall entered his ear. The waterfall was located not far from the lake where the water came from. As for the lake itself, it was said that there was water source in the lake, allowing the water to never run out.
Lin Xiao never got proper education about geography whatsoever, so he didn't care about it.
*rustle*
Passing the last bushes, Lin Xiao arrived by the lake. In front of him was a large lake that could be mistaken as sea. The other side was very far while the surface of the water was so clear. It looked so beautiful with nothing could ever match it.
"Hehehe, I have arrived. Now, time to fish!" Lin Xiao excitedly walked near the lake. He looked into the water and noticed that the bottom could be seen clearly. There was no fish visible in his sight.
Wait a minute…
In the first place, how to fish?

Demonic forest fires, consumption of souls, rivers of blood and rampant carnage; none of these can get in the way of a dedicated effort to think positively.Newest chapters at: https://manatankmagus.wordpress.com/This location is likely to stay a bit behind. I am very lazy. :DDISCLAIMER: My primary purpose here is Comedy rather than badass skills and righteous adventures (although there's some of that too). The main character can be a little bumbling at times and has a much higher opinion of himself than justified. If you really dislike that kind of thing, this is probably not for you.

Quirkless?
