《V.I.R.A.L 》Chapter 115: Jinxed Part 1

Thirty minutes before the Demon Mask attacked
Amid the jungle was silence. Well, for that short moment anyway. In the brief moments of silence and peace came a riddle of explosions and gunfire. Jumping from tree to tree dodging incoming fire Alton zipped forward grabbing onto a vine-swinging forward avoiding the last of the onslaught. Hiding behind a tree, he took a deep breath as Jinx stepped forward, clocking her gun whistling. "Come out, come out wherever you are. Come out and play."
Alton clutched a small rock in his hand, throwing it into the bushes as this was met by an array of fire. The magazine clicked as Jinx ran out of ammo. Alton slouched down, holding the bullet wound he received in his shoulder wincing in pain. "If you somehow think this is going to save you, Jinx, stop the real you coming back you're delusional. What good does it make fighting me?!"
Jinx threw her gun aside, pulling out a flamethrower from thin air. She began cooking it up meeting Alton's demands throwing aside his question. "It's not just about me here Brantser. This is about you. You're living in a word of fake news and lies. I'm saving us both here."
"Yeah, well this bullet wound says otherwise… You know for a short moment I was in the mindscape that you were different from the other Montagues. Turns out your no different to those scumbags."
"Guess it runs in the family, huh? Now how about we settle this and you come out like a man and take your medicine." The flames began spewing up as Jinx started looking around for the small glimpse at an attack.
Alton knew he couldn't take on Jinx head-on with her seamlessly endless number of guns and ammo. He would have to ambush her taking a surprise attack to win this one. Looking ahead, he saw another tree which would be his starting point. Jumping ahead he landed in the next tree only for the branch he lands on to snap. His eyes widen as he fell to the ground, falling face first. Lifting his head up, he saw Jinx holding the flamethrower right to his face as she smirked. "You're one ugly motherfucker."
Before Jinx could strike, two bottles of water rolled forward in front of her feet both exploded, knocking her back as the water pinned her against the tree.

Spending more of his points on bottles of water, Alton stood up spitting dirt from his mouth. "I ain't got time to bleed."
Jinx cackled lifted her head forward clapping. "That was a nice one. Truly a shock to me."
"What that attack or the quote?"
"Yes."
Alton shook his head, finding it pointless talking to Jinx she wasn't one to be reasoned with. All the water particles swept-back surrounding Alton like a shield Jinx cracked a pistol forward-firing serval shots. Although they landed their mark, none of them reached Alton thanks to his new defences. "Didn't anyone tell you this in school? Bullets don't do well in water!" Alton charged forward rolling ahead as his shield piled onto Jinx, holding her in a bubble of water. The lump of water rose up as Jinx was unable to breathe, gripping her neck. As Jinx began drowning Alton burst the bubble jumping up and kicking Jinx into the tree as she slammed against it. Her body limped over as she began coughing up water. Alton walked over, pressing his leg against the tree, staring Jinx down as he leaned forward. "Let me give you a word of advice, Jinx. This version of you, kill it. Leave it where it belongs. The only person your hurting is yourself clinging onto the Garden will not solve anything. Give it up."
Jinx raised her head, staring at Alton with an exhausted look. She tried laughing, but it came off as a silent whimper as she shook her head. "Give it up? Give it up, huh? Since you were kind enough to give me a word of advice, let me return the favour." Jinx held the back of Alton's head, pulling him forward kissing him. He flinched from his sudden turn of events. Jinx pulled away, running her hand over his lip. "Don't tell a girl what she can and cannot do." Alton glanced down as a grenade rolled underneath them both. Before he could react, it exploded sending both streamers flying back as Alton fell to the ground meanwhile Jinx flipped back falling off the cliffside and into the water below. Her vision became blurry as her body smashed against the water below with a mighty crash.

"Ow! Ow! Help!" Monty screamed, holding his leg fallen from his treehouse. Jinx stared blankly at her fallen brother as he kept screaming in pain.

She stepped back as Christopher rushed into his son's safety. Picking him up, he saw Monty's ankle was broken. "What happened?"
Monty pointed to the broken floor to the treehouse crying. "It was her! She broke it with her curse!"
"I didn't mean to! It was an accident." Jinx plead looking terrified.
Monty's screams however zoned out Jinx's desperate cries as Christopher held him tightly screaming back at Jinx. "Are you trying to kill him?! What have I told you, Holly?! Stay away from Monty!"
Jinx began wiping her eyes choking up crying being left alone again. She didn't mean to hurt Monty, the was the last thing she wanted when in reality she just wanted to play with her older brother. She didn't know what she did wrong, but she quickly started blaming herself for something out of her control. Anger built up as she began hitting herself, losing all senses as she walked away angry. Seeing a can on the floor, she swung her leg, kicking it only to miss it entirely falling overlying on her back sobbing again. Covering up her face, she began whispering. "Someone please help…"
But no one would come. Unlike Monty, no one came to her rescue. Jinx was alone to her own demons. A cursed ability she didn't want or know how to control. Her luck wouldn't improve much as the ground began to shake crumbling as Jinx fell through a hole in the floor hitting the bottom of a cold and abandoned bunker. Her cries were covered up with coughs as she whimpered out. "Help…"
"Don't bother; no one is coming for you. Never has or ever will. You are forever on your own. How does that make you feel?"
"Feel?"
"Anger? Rage? Fury?"
Jinx sat up, looking for the voice. "Who are you?"
"I can be a friend if you want."
"Anyone I care for is cursed."
"I'm not like everyone. Why should you let those primates push you around? Shouldn't you choose how to live not live to choose? No one understands you, do they?"
Jinx curled up, wiping her eyes whispering. "They say I'm a walking curse. I bring misfortune to everyone. They aren't wrong… I should have never been born."
"Liar!" The voice yelled, making Jinx jump. "That's those pigs talking. Knocking you down because they don't understand you. Why should you let them walk over you? Own what you have and become something better."
"How?"
A woman walked out the shadows looking blurry wearing broken golden armour and bandages all wrapped around her. She stared down, Jinx arms folded with a daring look. "With anger Jinx. Anger. We will show them who is king here. Afterall all men need a woman."
"Who are you?"
The woman stayed silent before smirking holding her hand out. "Your salvation."
****
Jinx was dragged out of the river as Alton laid back panting. Jinx continued to cough up water turning her head to Alton as he took a deep breath. "Your bloody crazy girl, you could have killed us both."
"You saved me… You had to fucking save me, didn't you?" She hissed.
Alton sat up, giving her a strange look. "Yeah, I bloody did. Don't have to thank me."
Jinx scratched at her face before jumping up, kicking Alton in the stomach, knocking him back. "I never asked you to save me! I don't need anyone, never have and never will!" Jinx tried pulling a gun out only to fail. Her hand was trembling as she screamed out loud. "No! This is all your fault. I was so close! My powers were in reaching distance, and you took them away! I cannot go back! She saved me I refuse to let it go! ALTON BRANTLEY! I HATE YOU!"
Alton stood up only to slip on the wet ground falling back down as Jinx pounced on him trying to scratch his eyes out. Alton headbutted her, kicking her off as he rolled around. "Jesus Christ, she's even more insane than before."
Jinx held her hand out, picking up her last gun firing away as Alton jumped into the bushes as he climbed the trees which surrounded her. Gripping his bloody hand tightly yelling out. "I don't know what you've been through Jinx, but I'm going to make this certain. I will save you!"
Jinx began firing away hissing as her eyes were bulging with rage. "Shut up! I don't need anyone! There's only one person who can save me, and that's me! Now stand still while I pump your body full of lead. I will have my Salvation!"
