《Secrets of the Universe 》Chapter 160: The Banshee Leader

A Banshee, a variant species of phantoms.
Banshees were the most popular type of incorporeal netherans in Weeping Town.
They were, however, different from zombies, in the sense that they couldn't be spawned sporadically.
A Banshee could only be birth when a lifeform is killed by another and fulfills certain conditions. Jake had no idea what the condition was, but he knew a few of them.
A Banshee had to be a female, there were only a few male banshees.
A Banshee had to had died with immense grief, hence while they were synonymous with tears.
A Banshee had to have been filled with negative emotions before becoming one!
There were mainly other theorized conditions, but these were the ones that were certified. For instance, Jake knew that the location was important for a banshee's birth, but he didn't quite understand how it factored into the equation.
However, one thing he knew was he should never listen to the cries of banshees.
They carried a certain sound that could kill. Just listening to it numerous kilometers away could still affect them!
Yet, here he was, listening to one!
.............
*Aaha~aha~aha!*
The song went on!
As he continued to listen to it, Jake found out how truly horrible the cry of a banshee was. It dug into his mind, turning his body inside out, feasted on his brain.
It was practically a hell song!
Perhaps, he was the only one that experienced this occurrence. The others weren't in deep in it as him.
Jake could sense every note of the cry. They told the tale of a tragic woman, a woman who lost something…...something Jake wasn't interested in.
However, Jake, being the one with superior senses, was made to listen!
Blood flowed out of his ears, eyes, nose, and every other orifices as the cry reached its peak.

His bones turned soft as if they were made of cotton. His energy went rampant, sympathizing with the tragic cry of the banshee.
'A banshee...a wom--creature made with tremendous sorrow,' sighed Jake.
It was such a creature that brought him down to his knees. His sharp senses had doomed him. It made him remember the time when he had tried to peer into the very nature of Cheyenne….
"Haha--" Jake tried to smile but he just ended up coughing blood.
However, he wasn't planning on giving up.
Crawling on the rough ground, Jake removed his hands from his ear and focused on the source of the horrendous scream.
True enough, it was a banshee! He hadn't doubted that.
Beside the banshee was the wraith Jake had faced, comfortably listening to the song. The ghost and shadow that fought with the group were also there.
Gradually, other phantoms, ghosts, banshees, and shadows gathered around them.
As he saw this, he knew that this was not a battle he could win.
Jake ignored the massive amount of blood he was losing and focused on the group.
'They are also in pain,' sighed Jake.
Still, he could tell that they weren't out of the game as they tried to move their body. They were hunters, the Tegylcas, not ordinary warriors that could be knocked unconscious by the banshee's scream.
Amid his growing pain, Jake thought of a way out of this situation.
He could use many items in his [Spatial Ring], but the problem was that he couldn't access them.
To do that, he needed to contact the ring with his energy that was currently haywire.
'I can't do it, but maybe they can,' sighed Jake.
He dragged his body to the position of the group and observed them. Due to their own share of pain, they didn't notice him and found it hard to move.

Picking his target, Jake dragged all the bone in his body and lightly nudged Eden. If anybody was able to reverse this dilemma, it would be their leader.
His touch was very light, as light as a feather, but that was the only thing that was needed to 'wake' up someone like Eden.
That single touch felt like countless shocks to Eden. It gave him the danger boost he needed to focus on the matter at hand.
It was akin to whipping an already sore man. The whip would deeply hurt him and fire him up instantly...….just for a second tho.
After fulfilling his part, Jake fell on Eden. The latter then dug his fingernails into his body, overcoming the scream with greater pain.
An energy trail appeared on his body and went to his hand where his [Spatial Ring] was.
The two contacted and a sphere appeared in front of Eden.
Grabbing it weakly, Eden proceeded to slam it on the ground.
*Boom!*
A whitish smoke exploded out of the sphere with enough force to tear apart buildings.
It clouded the surrounding especially the banshee whose eyes got burnt staring at the smoke.
*Scream!*
Along with the rest, she released a hurtful and ran away before the smoke could touch her.
Luckily for her and the rest, the smoke dispersed quickly. When the netherans got back to their previous location, their preys were nowhere to be found!
*Kyaah!*
This made the banshee livid.
She was one of the leaders of the banshees. She was under the orders of her queen to eliminate all intruders. She couldn't afford to fail!
Screaming with all her energy, she alerted the other banshees to search for them.
*Kyaah!*
One might wonder where the other banshees were, but when submissive banshee screams from all around the banshee leader were hollered back, such notion was thrown.
The banshee leader screamed again. Only other banshees could decipher the meaning in her scream. The banshees were usually asleep in the buildings, but when they heard the call of one of their leaders, they quickly rummaged through every street.
Not just here, in other buildings, other banshee leaders attacked the hiding bounty hunters, obeying their orders.
In just an hour seventy percent(70%) of the hunters were dead, and only a few escaped. One of them being the Teglycas!
