《Tamer of Cosmic Beasts 》Chapter 49: Painful Death
Advertisement
A white-winged beastman was flying in the sky, fighting a human-shaped beast many times bigger than him. Daan Godlyn was in full rage mode and with the help of the God Demon Panda's buff, he was fighting toe to toe with the giant.
The giant was not in a playing mood like before, it was bleeding from a few cuts on its body. It made a fist, and engulfed it in blue flames, however, Daan kept flying with irregular movements, making it hard for it to aim correctly. Nevertheless, the giant kept his punch at bay, putting more and more power into it as it silently watched Daan, until just like an arrow…
~BOOM~
The punch was thrown at Daan. The blast so big, it covered the whole body of the Lion King. Failing to dodge the punch, Daan was smashed against the rocky ground of the mountains, bouncing and rolling until he was finally halted by a hill.
Daan quickly healed up and stood back up, the fire was still burning on his body. He tried to extinguish it but failed, then he closed his eyes and used the Ice Law on his body.
Giant saw this and he clenched his fist again, forming a blazing blue flame as he ran towards Daan. Fortunately, the latter was able to successfully extinguish it with in time before looking at the charging giant.
"I can do the same."
Daan clenched his fists and the ground shook, pointy stones glued to his fists before flames started to rise from them as well, the giant reached him and punched down.
In response, Daan dug his tail into the ground before using this leverage to evade the punch. Then, he countered ferociously with a heavy punch at the ankle of the beast.
~BANG~
The giant growled and was about to fall before Daan quickly moved in and gave an additional uppercut with his other hand on its chin for good measure.

~BANG~
The giant's feet left the ground for a moment due to the impact and Daan didn't let this chance slip. He made his tail's blade twice as long while encasing it in sharp ice before he flew towards the face of the giant and rotated. The long tail whip slashed the eyes of the giant and, as a result, the beast fell and started rolling in pain.
Daan landed quickly, clenched both hands with each other and smashed them on the giant's chest, making a dent on its tough chest.
Following that, he bared his claws and dug into the new indentation, running his claws across the whole torso and deeply cutting it along the way.
The giant, in pain, tried to catch Daan but he quickly ducked and went after the giant's loincloth. Daan's attention was caught by the junior giant, it was as big as Daan himself.
"This giant must be proud of himself."
Daan stated as he ran his claws and tail through it as well, mutilating it all, including the eggs. The giant's cries teared throughout the sky before foam formed in its mouth and it died in pain. Daan came out with blood all over his body and spoke.
"Feel the pain…"
After which, he walked towards the chest of the giant before suddenly flinching. He shivered a bit and quickly touched his own familial jewels and most treasured weapon of mass creation.
"Thank goodness, they are still there."
He bowed to the giant.
"I'm sorry but I had no choice."
Daan tore its chest, dug out the core and ate it.
"Maybe I'll get the blue blaze power after eating its core."
~Near Akash~
The Red Mamba left the crumbled body of the moose as he was already on his last breath. Mamba slithered quickly, getting closer and closer to Akash and Ponytail.

The palm of the panda on his body had already disappeared, its negative effects vanishing with it, while Ponytail was still dizzy. Confidently, Mamba raised his head and asked.
"Who are you? Why have you interfered in our fight?"
Mamba was curious about the background of this undying force. Akash retorted.
"You do not deserve to know about us. As for your second question, it's a preemptive war"
Mamba was enraged. At the same time, a figure wielding a spear came out from the ensuing battles around them.
"My Liege, are you alright?"
Haji Tea had finally arrived with his Thunder Sword Boar, having to fight and kill multiple beasts along the way which delayed his arrival.
"Haji, quickly make a contract with that moose!"
Akash sent the message via the System.
Haji Tea didn't wait and reached the gigantic moose, blood was dripping from his mouth and nose. His antlers, ribs and many other bones were destroyed. Meanwhile, Mamba focused on the new man. Haji understood what he had to do as he quickly released his Life Law.
"Petals of Health."
A few plant vines came out from Haji's sleeves, there were orange petals attached to it. They glowed as their healing abilities were activated. Red Mamba muttered as he observed the scene.
"A life law skill, nothing special. He is not the one behind those resurrections."
The snake looked again at Akash, it was Haji's trick. He knew if he tried to contract a dying beast, Mamba would get a glimpse of how their force worked, so he used a mere healing skill to make him believe that he was nothing special. During all this, Haji thought about how to make a contract with a dying beast.
A contract could be made with a mutual agreement between beast and tamer or when the tamer had defeated the beast and tamed it with his own hands.
*beep*
[Earl Haji Tea can make a blood contract with this beast. Do you want to? YES/NO]
Just as he was thinking if the System could help him with this, it answered, surprising him with this perfect timing.
"Yes, I want it. Please, hurry up, System."
[Earl Haji Tea must shed a droplet of blood to make a blood contract.]
Haji didn't waste time, meanwhile Mamba smelt the new blood nearby, he quickly looked at Haji, but it was already too late. The blood went inside the mouth of Shine Moose and a formation was formed on Moose's head.
[Congratulations, Earl Haji Tea has successfully made a blood contract with Shine Moose.]
Right after the blood contract was made, Shine Moose's life finally ended but Haji Tea immediately ordered the System as he smiled, looking at Red Mamba.
"System, please revive the moose!"
*beep*
With a single beep, the large Shine Moose stood up and bellowed loudly.
"MAAAANHHHHH!"

City of Champions Online
Having found the tragic truth that an art degree is worth less than the paper it is printed on, Jacquelyn Jones is frustrated with her dead end work as a graphic designer for a marketing firm, finding new ways to try and convince people that this week's 50 cent off sale is actually worth driving to the store. She's tried other VRMMORPGs, but they've all been fantasy-based, with a couple sci-fi games thrown in. But she wants something more, something Super. Superhero VRMMOs have had a... subpar reception in the past, in part due to the fact that the nature of most MMOs makes for fairly unheroic tales. After the couple hundredth time blasting the same group of mooks from the same faction on the same street corner of the same city, using the same powerset as everyone else because you only have a few options, it is hard to think of yourself as a hero anymore. But then she heard about City of Champions Online. For the first time, a developer partnered with a tabletop RPG maker to use their system to create a VRMMORPG, and it was one of the systems designed to be used with superhero games! Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment. The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
