《Tamer of Cosmic Beasts 》Chapter 5: 3rd Tier Abran City

[ Teleporting to the Planet Earth in 10, 9, 8… ]
Akash was startled while looking at the screen.
"Wait, there is still so much that I want to ask."
The Turtle smiled and said.
"Everything will be revealed in time. The system will make you the strongest being and the more industrious you will be, the more powerful you will become."
Akash's eyes were filled with tears as except for his parents and his few friends, no one really loved him. Because he wasn't a strong tamer they respected him merely as a formality due to him being in charge of the House of Knowledge. Now, he somehow felt the same love from the Turtle in such a short time and didn't want to say goodbye so soon.
As they were talking the system was also counting.
[ 5, 4, 3… ]
"Oh, and don't be afraid of death for it will benefit your cultivation."
Akash asked in worry.
"What do you mean by that, Ancestor?"
[ 1 ] *beep*.
All of a sudden, a flash of light overlapped Akash Tagar's eyes, and he lost consciousness. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a city where the buildings were destroyed as if there had been a war.
[ The king has arrived at the Abran city of Planet Earth. ]
Akash was not a child unlike his appearance, he understood his position as Ancestor Turtle's successor and didn't wonder why the system called him "The King". Akash looked at the screen and asked.
"System, is this the city in which I will start my new life?"
[ Yes! Abran is the weakest city of this cosmos at this moment. It's a 3rd tier city. ]
"Oh, The weakest city of the weakest planet of the weakest cosmos, haha interesting. By the way, am I allowed to select the city for the force I have to build?"
[ The creator of this system has planned everything for the host and this includes the city. The host has to rise from the lowest to the highest position. ]
Akash looked at the sky with the eyes filled with flames of excitement and said in his mind.
"Thank you Ancestor for giving me another chance. I will definitely erase the enemies of both of us, one by one"
*beep*
[ The host is weak right now and will die easily if he is engaged in a fight. ]
System replied.
"Hmm, so you can also read my thoughts?"
Akash said in a questionable way
[ Yes, the system is connected with the host's soul. ]
Akash sighed and murmured
"That's an unnecessary feature"
System [ ... ]
"So what should I do now?"
[ The host has to go to the inner part of the city to find more information about this city and its residents. ]

Akash didn't reply and just walked on the main road.
After an hour of walking, he finally saw a city that looked completely different from where he was transmigrated. Above the gates on the walls was the name of the city "ABRAN" written on a big wooden plate.
As he walked into the city, he saw a few guards at the gate.
"Halt, show your identity!"
A middle-aged man with a guard uniform yelled as Akash came closer.
"Hello sir, I want to enter the city."
"Who are you? I have never seen you in Abran before."
"Oh, I'm from another city and came here to register myself as a tamer."
Akash replied with a straight face. Akash was not talented but because of this, he spent his entire time reading books, scrolls. Thus, as a result, he obtained an enormous amount of knowledge which gave him the title of Sage Scholar on Fairy Planet. He knew that there were several competitions and leagues for different stages of cultivations but before joining any of them, one must register themselves in a city and get a profile that will show which city the tamer is representing.
A middle-aged man looked behind to his fellows with a confused face
"Did you all hear the same thing?"
They all nodded with a perplexed look
"Do you want to register yourself as an Abran City's Tamer?"
"Yeah! Is there anything wrong with that?"
"Ha-ha-ha no-no, young man, I was just asking. Come here, I will take you to the registration office. No... I will take you directly to the mayor of this city for your registration!"
"Ehh! Mayor?"
Akash understood that something fishy was going on. A mayor is the symbol of the strength of a city regardless of its tier. They're selected from the strongest tamers of that city and this guard is taking me to the mayor directly. First of all, how could a mere guard be able to contact the mayor of the city directly?
"What's the wrong, young man?"
The guard asked.
"Nothing sir, lead the way, I will follow you."
"Alright."
As they entered the city, Akash saw many small buildings and the population was surprisingly low. Even when compared to other 3rd tier cities the population was low by a large margin.
Soon, they reached the mayor's building which was only of moderate size. Even the destroyed buildings at his teleportation site, which were the outskirts of the city, were bigger than this.
"Wait here, I will tell the mayor about you."
The guard went in as he said that.
Soon, a grey-haired man came out together with the guard. With a single glance, Akash grasped that this man was not a weak person. He was at the 2nd Moon of the Star Captain stage.

"Is this the young man you were talking about?"
The grey-haired man asked the guard. Akash understood that he was the Mayor.
The guard nodded respectfully.
"What a handsome youth! What is your name young man?"
"Hello, sir mayor, I'm Akash Tagar. Pleased to meet you."
"You are very humble and well mannered. I'm the mayor of this city. My name is Haji Tea although I'm often The Smoking Spear as well. I heard you want to get registered as a tamer of this city. Is that true?"
Akash nodded.
"Come to my office, Akash."
The three of them went inside the office of the mayor and sat on chairs.
"Me Akash, let me tell you something first."
The Mayor began as he looked at Akash who noticed that, at the same time, the guard lowered his eyes and clenched his fists.
"Our city was once a 1st tier city of this province but because of a gigantic Beasts Raid, 4/5 of the city was destroyed. As a result, all the talented Tamers of this city either died or left the city. Then after all these years passed, our city turned into a 3rd tier city. Our total population is only a hundred thousand. All the big families left our city and there aren't any geniuses left in Abran. Those who were born with talent, left this city to join a bigger and more prosperous one where they could shine quicker and brighter."
Akash finally understood why those abandoned destroyed buildings were so big and roads were so well built.
The entire time Akash's face was expressionless. It was an essential part of his mission to get registered in this city. Akash was buckled down to Haji Tea.
"Do you still want to register yourself in this city? Once you register yourself here, you cannot represent or join any other city, unless you reach the realm of Star Knight or pay a huge ransom."
Haji Tea told Akash.
Akash smiled and looked at Haji Tea.
"Yes sir, I still want to register here."
The doubtful face of Haji Tea turned into a red jolly face as if his face was about to burst.
"Thank you, Akash. I will support you with everything I have. I knew I'm not the only one who had big ambitions."
"What do you mean by that, sir?"
Akash asked.
The Guard who was as happy as the mayor said.
"Mr Haji Tea is from a 1st tier city. He was one of the geniuses of his generation in that city and when he reached the Star Knight stage, he willingly volunteered himself to become the mayor here. He wants to raise the position of Abran city from the 3rd tier to its previous glory as a 1st tier city."
Akash looked at Haji Tea who was still smiling from ear to ear. A feeling of relief fell on his heart. Akash grinned similarly as he too thought that he found had finally found the first companion of his force and a strong one as well.
"Then, I will be in your care."
Akash said.
All of a sudden, Haji Tea stood up and looked at Akash Tagar.
"Aahhhh! I'm so sorry Akash, I forgot to ask about your cosmic cultivation level for the registration. Can you please tell me your stage so that I can complete the paperwork right away?"
This question startled Akash because he couldn't feel even the slightest bit of cosmic power in his body, but then he remembered that Ancestor Turtled took all of his power when it used ABSOLUTE REWIND on him.
The system read the thoughts of Akash Tagar.
*beep*
[ The king must first own a piece of land where the system can use its power. Then, it will become the headquarters of the force the host will build to conquer the cosmos. All the powers that the host had before have been taken away and replaced with the powers of the system's creator. After building the headquarters, the host will automatically breakthrough to the Star 1 realm.
The 1st level of the headquarters will occupy 100 square feet of land and a hundred thousand cosmic coins. ]
"What?"
That was the only word that came out of Akash's mind.
*beep*
[ Does the king want the system to explain again ]
"No no, that's fine. It seems the mind-reading feature was really necessary"
System: [ ... ]
Akash looked at Haji Tea
"Sorry Mr Haji, I was lost in my thoughts for a moment and I'm at the Star 1 stage."
Haji Tea looked at Akash with astonishing eyes.
"How old are you?"
"15 years old" Akash replied.
The shock grew, even more, it seemed as if Haji Tea's eyes will pop out.
"15 years and you are already at Star 1 stage. If you are not genius then who else can be?"
On Earth, most human only reach the Star 1 stage after becoming 18 years old. Before that, they focus on opening their 7 channels.
Those who open all 7 channels before the age of 18 and breakthrough to the Star 1 realm are geniuses and those who breakthrough to Star 1 at the age of 15 years will rule this planet or at the very least big organizations.
Akash gave a bitter smile and asked in a low voice.
"Umm sir, I am in a need of something."
Haji Tea replied instantly.
"Yes, sure! Anything within this city's jurisdiction and my power is yours."
Akash shakes his head and said.
"Thank you, Haji, but I only need a hundred thousand coins and a 100 square feet piece of land in this city."

8 123The Afterlife, And How To Survive It (Barely)
Larry Foulery's monotonous, directionless life changed drastically, when he got shot in the face. Reincarnated into a new world, where he has nothing to lose and everything to gain, and with the honor and dedication of an part-time fast food cashier, he is ready to face this adventure. Kinda. The story takes place in the cynical world of Afterlife, where status screens and are considered normal, and the rule of physics cry in a corner, because nobody cares about them, and they are alone and lonely, and their family hasn't called them in years. Anyways, have fun. BTW don't stare too long into the story cover. I get the feeling it stares back. I'm trying to improve my writing, so feel free to bombard me with criticism.
8 145Threads
A legendary landmass long since believed lost to the world reappears in the seas of the island nation of Annitou, setting off a frantic race by the surrounding governments to acquire its allegedly powerful secrets. From every corner of the map comes settlers, merchants, pirates, and the strongest enforcers of each country's sovereignty: the Agents, individuals with unique, sometimes seemingly divine talents which can rival the power of even an army. However on the lawless frontier of the newly rediscovered island of Jinchi, national loyalties and personal ambition are put to the real test. Threads follows the interconnected stories of individuals from all strata of this world, from the lowly in-training cadets, to the mighty and seemingly invincible generals, to the otherwise innocuous and 'powerless' civilians. Each person holds a piece of the puzzle- but nobody can say how it will ultimately be put together.
8 140Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess. (This work is also being serialised on Webnovel under the name Revile as a trial run)
