《Start With Contracting Sprites》Chapter 103: Horse King's Test

In front of the horses, the Cloud Water Dragon Horse snorted loudly, no longer looking at them.
He turned around and called out to a pony.
Only then did Su Hao notice that there were other people near the horses.
One of them was Professor Meng's student, Luo Cheng.
Su Hao couldn't name the other two, he only knew that they were elite Sprite Trainers.
However, Su Hao didn't see Tang Qiwen, who had been trying to curry favor with him previously.
Luo Cheng's sprite was also a White-Winged Moth — a very common production sprite.
Compared to Tang Qiwen's, the White-Winged Moth in front of him was much larger. Be it in terms of color or patterns, it was the best of the best.
Its cultivation level had already reached the peak of entry level.
However, after being shot by that cannonball-like water ball, it was still sent flying far away without any resistance.
Seeing how his sprite had fainted, Luo Cheng had an anxious look on his face. He wanted to use "Sprite Commandeering: Persist" to wake his sprite up, but he used too little of it before. He usually didn't even use Sprite Commandeering once every few months so he failed several times.
He shouted at the Horse King unwillingly.
"If it follows me, I can nurture it into a Cloud Water Dragon Horse stronger than you. What's so bad about that!?"
The Horse King snorted and glanced at him. It then turned its head away and ignored him.
Luo Cheng was a bit embarrassed.
He was a mid-level Sprite Cultivator!
He couldn't even settle a sprite now?!
What was more embarrassing was that his White-Winged Moth had fainted, and he didn't even have a translator now. He couldn't even understand what the Cloud Water Dragon Horse was snorting about right now.
He could only turn his head and look at the elite Sprite Trainer with a questioning look.
One of them looked up at the sky. The other person deliberated for a moment and said in a more tactful tone,
"That Cloud Water Dragon Horse said that if you can't get its approval, you can forget about taking away a Water Spirit Foal."
This wasn't a very standard translation.
His original words were, "Weakling, go back to where you came from."
The elite Sprite Trainer casted a glance at the White-Winged Moth. Its battle sense was indeed a little weak, it couldn't dodge even a few water bullets.

What a waste of such good cultivation.
"Can the two of you help me get the Cloud Water Dragon Horse? After this, I'll design a full cultivation plan for your sprites."
Luo Cheng gritted his teeth.
He had already suffered a lot.
The full set of cultivation plans was not so easy to design, and it often required days of observation and analysis, which was very troublesome.
But as long as he could contract the Water Spirit Foal, which had a longing for the outside world and was clearly stronger than other foals, it would be worth it!
The two elite-level Sprite Trainers with Luo Cheng were a little tempted.
But after exchanging a look, they still shook their heads.
"It's not that we don't want to, but we really can't do it."
One of them looked towards the center of the calm lake with fear. "The Cloud Water Dragon Horse is alright, but there's a very strong water-element sprite in the lake. It had already warned us to follow the rules, otherwise…"
"Sprite Cultivator Luo, I suggest we contract other sprites. There are quite a lot of outstanding sprites in the primordial forest."
Luo Cheng also knew about that.
But he just wasn't willing to give up on that outstanding Water Spirit Foal!
His White-Winged Moth had reached the peak of its potential. In the beginning, he chose the White-Winged Moth pathway because it was easy to nurture and cost-effective. But now, with financial resources and time, he naturally wanted to contract and nurture an outstanding sprite.
Just like Professor Meng.
Did you know how impressive her Black Dragon was?
Just as he was feeling a bit indignant, he saw others approaching.
They were all people he knew.
However, Luo Cheng was in a bad mood and didn't want to say hello.
Zhong Yunrui walked over and asked the two elite Sprite Trainers about the situation.
A moment later…
Su Hao and the others had some understanding.
"It's a bit of a disadvantage for you," said Zhong Yunrui. "According to them, you have to gain the acknowledgment of the Cloud Water Dragon Horse in a one-on-one battle before it agrees to let you choose a Water Spirit Foal to contract."
"And it's just a chance to contract."
"That Cloud Water Dragon Horse is an elite-level horse, it won't be that easy to deal with. Originally, we could have chased it away if we worked together, but it has a backer…"

As they spoke.
Luo Cheng seemed to have thought of something new.
He borrowed an elite sprite from a Sprite Trainer, a Ground Wolf.
He wanted to use the power of this Ground Wolf to deal with the Cloud Water Dragon Horse.
But just as he moved…
Ripples appeared on the calm surface of the lake. A big conch emerged, supported by a water stream, as it rose into the air more than ten meters high.
"Gurgle~!"
The Reverie Butterfly standing on top of Su Hao's head became on alert.
Su Hao also saw the information on the Fairy Snail — it was indeed extraordinary!
From the looks of it, the Fairy Snail was similar to most of its kind — homely, lazy, and not aggressive, as long as others followed the rules.
However…
The Fairy Snail seemed to have noticed Luo Cheng's small action.
The Ground Wolf had only taken a few steps when the surface of the lake shook violently. One after another, the raised waves turned into water dragons that rushed out to hit the Ground Wolf who couldn't dodge in time.
In just an instant…
The water dragons roared, and the ground cracked.
A pit more than ten meters in diameter was blasted through the ground, as the Ground Wolf fainted completely in it.
"Woo…"
Its voice spread far and wide.
It sounded like a warning.
Su Hao poked at Reverie Butterfly. What are you talking about?
"Gurgle gurgle."
Su Hao looked at Luo Cheng and the others with sympathy.
Look, he must have been warned.
Why did he have to provoke the overlord of the primordial forest?
Before coming, the management of the primordial area had reminded them that there were a few extraordinarily strong sprites inside.
Those sprites were usually preached, but if you couldn't listen to their words, they would talk to you with physics.
Luo Cheng and the others indeed didn't dare to move anymore.
It was only after the Fairy Snail submerged back into the water and disappeared when they finally shifted their feet. One step, two steps, they moved to the snow forest at the side and hid behind a tree to watch.
Only then would that elite Sprite Trainer have the chance to use Sprite Commandeering to summon the fainted Ground Wolf and place it on the back of another Ten-Thousand Vine Turtle.
"Let's go," he said, his face dispirited.
"Let's wait a while more, I want to see what they are planning to do!"
Luo Cheng looked at Su Hao and the other three.
He thought that Zhong Yunrui or Huo Lixue were the ones preparing to contract the Water Spirit Foal.
With their main sprites' elite-level strength, it was possible for them to get the Horse King's approval.
He was jealous.
He also hated the Horse King for not having good taste.
It didn't want a mid-level Sprite Cultivator like himself.
But then, he saw that Su Hao, the high school student, was actually the one who was gradually walking towards the horses.
"He already has two sprites, and he still wants to contract another one?!"
"No, how can he possibly get the Horse King's approval!?"
Thinking like this, Luo Cheng suddenly felt a lot better. He couldn't wait for someone to have the same ending as him.
...
"Do you really want to fight that Cloud Water Dragon Horse?"
"Yes."
If it was just an ordinary Water Spirit Foal, he would give it up.
This one in front of him was really fated with him!
If he gave it up, he would never forgive himself. He would dream of it every day in the future!
"Are you confident?" Su Hao looked at the flying Reverie Butterfly.
"Gurgle!"
It flapped its emerald-patterned wings and flew in mid-air.
Its big, watery eyes reflected the strong, muscular Cloud Water Dragon Horse that had blue stripes on its body and a thick mane.
"This Cloud Water Dragon Horse was originally at the peak of elite level, stronger than the General Elephant and Fiery Blaze Bull…"
But after giving birth to the Water Spirit Foals, the Cloud Water Dragon Horse had depleted a lot of its strength.
It could only rely on the long years to recover bit by bit.
At this point, its battle power could only be considered weak elite level.
"The Reverie Butterfly doesn't need to defeat it. All it needs to do is to get its recognition. It's entirely possible!"
The emerald green figure flew up high.
In front of it, green light dots gathered into energy balls and surrounded its body.
With a thought from the little rascal, Energy Balls spun and whooshed towards the Cloud Water Dragon Horse from all directions.
Luo Cheng, who was watching the battle from afar, suddenly froze after a gloating look on his face.

Soul of the Warrior
In a world where Classes, Stats, and Levels are the everyday norm, Reivyn has a secret. He was unusually aware of his surroundings from an incredibly early age, and Skills and Stats were acquired easily. He was just the son of an ordinary village family, and nothing appeared out of the ordinary on the surface. But below the surface, dreams of another life help shape his mentality and growth. Why does he have some remembrance of a past life, and what is his purpose in this new one? "Soul of the Warrior" is what I call a Semi-Isekai LitRPG. I say "semi," because Reivyn's past life is remembered like a dream, and very incomplete. It is still Isekai, though, as he remembers enough that it directly shapes his personality and his sense of self. The System that governs the world of "Soul of the Warrior" is a combination of modified versions from Selkie's "Beneath the Dragoneye Moons" and Kosnik4's "Magic Smithing." I have changed enough of these Systems and combined them in a way that is unique that I'm mostly sure it's fine, but I still have requested permission to use these ideas. They have both graciously granted me permission. Winner of the April Writathon Challenge. Release Schedule is Mon, Wed, Fri on Royal Road.
