《Start With Contracting Sprites》Chapter 90: Became An Experimental Taste of Illusion

The Armored Crab was the evolved form of the Sickle Crab. It was a big, dark blue crab, the size of an old-fashioned square table. Its pincers were as sharp as blades. With just a light pinch, even steel could be broken.
Not to mention its hard and thick carapace.
When Little Fire Crow's Flaming Needles landed on the Flaming Bull, it could cause some form of damage.
But against the Armored Crab, even if Little Fire Crow attacked it directly with a fire ball, it probably still couldn't break its defense.
"This Armored Crab is an advanced entry-level sprite. I've seen its battle in the official battle area. It's super strong!"
Someone revealed its strength.
This made the others despise the owner even more.
But despise was just despise.
There was no rule in the White Elephant Battle Club saying that high-level Sprite Trainers couldn't challenge low-level Sprite Trainers.
The mere differences between an official battle area and an ordinary battle area were the prices, the battle environments, and the facilities.
Not the level of Sprite Trainers.
The man's challenge conformed to the rules.
He didn't care about what others thought of him.
In the eyes of the surrounding audience, Su Hao had already succeeded in his defence. He used Little Fire Crow to prove his strength.
There was no need to fight another impossible battle.
Admitting defeat was the best choice.
It wasn't shameful either.
Once the battle started, the Armored Crab would probably beat Little Fire Crow to death.
The judge also looked at Su Hao and asked, "Should we give up on defending the arena?"
Su Hao declined.
"I want to change sprites. This is in line with the rules, right?"
"Err… Of course." The judge was stunned for a moment. "You're the only one guarding the arena. As long as you still have other contracted sprites, you can send them onto the arena… but only those you've contracted."
"The same goes for the challengers."
Su Hao was relieved.
He called for Reverie Butterfly through the contract.
After a moment, Reverie Butterfly flapped its wings and flew over.
"Gurgle, gurgle!"
Now that it knew the reason, it looked at the big guy with an unfriendly look.

He actually intended to bully its underling?
The exhausted Little Fire Crow flew into the arena and landed on Su Hao's shoulder, "dumbly" cheering Reverie Butterfly on.
After completing the contract verification, Reverie Butterfly flew into the arena.
"What kind of sprite is this?"
The man frowned.
At first, he just couldn't dissuade his good-for-nothing younger brother so he wanted to give him something to vent his anger on. He didn't expect his opponent to have an entry-level sprite.
He couldn't determine whether the Reverie Butterfly was an elementary, intermediate, or advanced sprite.
Below the platform.
Most of the audience couldn't recognize what kind of sprite it was as well.
At this moment, another knowledgeable person spoke.
"This sprite is called Reverie Butterfly. It's the evolved form of Silkworm Baby. It was discovered not long ago. He… should be the person who discovered the Reverie Butterfly pathway, and he's also a high school student."
"Hiss…"
Clearly, this high-schooler was excessively strong, but he actually used a Little Fire Crow that had yet to reach entry level. All of this to just act cute!
I've lived my whole life for nothing~ah!
"But… the Reverie Butterfly must have evolved not long ago. So it must have only broken through to entry level recently."
Most sprites would break through to entry-level during their first evolution.
The second stage of evolution was used to break through to the elite level.
Only a few pathways with great potential but high evolution difficulty would evolve after the sprite had reached a relatively higher level.
In the battle arena…
Once the judge waved the flag, the man began to give orders.
The Armored Crab's body was huge, and it had a strong impact, as if it could finish off Reverie Butterfly with just one move.
It waved its pincers and slashed out waves of water.
One after another, they flew towards Reverie Butterfly.
Reverie Butterfly flew in the air while flapping its butterfly wings, weaving among the waves.
On the surface, the two sprites couldn't do anything to each other.
"But with Armored Crab's destructive power, as long as its pincers can hit Reverie Butterfly head-on, one hit is enough to make it lose its battle ability."

"On the other hand…"
They watched Reverie Butterfly's Granule Machine Gun hit the shell of the Armored Crab, making a clear sound as sparks were sent flying.
But the Armored Crab was unharmed.
"It is very difficult for Reverie Butterfly to really injure the Armored Crab. This is the difference in strength. Command and tactics cannot make up for it."
Without needing any instructions, Reverie Butterfly could deal with the Armored Crab very well.
But the smart audience was right too.
"A meat-shield sprite like Armored Crab is the most effective opponent against Reverie Butterfly."
On the contrary, Reverie Butterfly wasn't afraid of sprites like the Leaf Blade Warrior or the Killer Mantis.
It was very agile.
With an excellent level of spiritual force control, the spinning Energy Ball could even intercept moving fireballs, hitting the sprites accurately.
However, it was slightly less powerful against meat-shield sprites.
"If it was an elite-level Giant Armored Crab, with a shell as hard as a heavy tank armor, it would be really difficult to break through its defense."
Fortunately, Reverie Butterly could knock-out the opponent in front of it with Energy Balls by just exerting some effort.
But there was no need to do so.
Silly big guy… wasn't this a good time to test out the illusion ability of Reverie Butterfly?
The little rascal knew this too. While dodging the attacks of the Armored Crab with ease, it threw out one or two Energy Balls that were not very strong from time to time.
The Energy Balls only made the Armored Crab pause its attack slightly after hitting its shell.
However, spiritual force with the nature of < Dreams > quietly invaded the Armored Crab without it knowing.
The unique skill "Dream Building" was also secretly used, affecting the Armored Crab bit by bit.
It had yet to learn "Eye of Nightmare", and so it could only exert the influence of illusion in the most direct and exhausting way.
But in the eyes of outsiders, it was Reverie Butterfly who repeatedly failed to attack and was making its final struggle.
"However, to be able to persevere for such a long time while dodging the unique skill of the Armored Crab time and time again, this Reverie Butterfly is already very impressive. If it was another high entry-level sprite, it would really have to suffer some injuries before it was knocked-out."
The man was a high-level Sprite Trainer with real capabilities. Unlike his useless younger brother who relied on his family's resources to push sprites to entry level, his commands were very organized and had steady advancement.
Relying on water curtains, water waves, and other unique skills, the Armored Crab forced Reverie Butterfly to a corner of the battle arena step by step.
It further compressed the dodging space of Reverie Butterfly.
"Use the water screen and then use Air Punch!"
The Armored Crab paused for a moment, raising its large pincers high in the air, and then…
It suddenly stopped.
After a pause of two to three seconds, the man shouted and used Sprite Commandeering "Explosion" for another moment, but the Armored Crab remained motionless.
After a few more seconds, the Armored Crab suddenly moved.
It took three steps to the left and five steps to the right. Its crab claws suddenly waved around in panic, hitting the light screen at the edge of the battle arena and then onto itself.
Several cracks appeared on its thick carapace.
Its eight legs were running all over the place, before suddenly closing up as it rolled around the arena like a ball.
After some time…
The Armored Crab had turned the battle arena into a mess. It flipped its body around, closed its two eyes as its eight legs continued shaking before it finally fainted.
Its Sprite Trainer stood on the command tower as he looked at everything in front of him in disbelief.
They lost.
They were completely defeated.
They lost to a high school student.
The man looked over and saw Su Hao staring at the battlefield with his arms crossed and a faint smile hanging on the corner of his lips.
From the start to the end, he didn't need to give any orders.
He was that confident and calm.
The man was defeated fair and square.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.
