《Start With Contracting Sprites》Chapter 88: Little Fire Crow: It's Finally My Turn To Act Cool

The White Elephant Battle Club was a world-class battle club.
Battlefields, facilities, and other aspects in here were much more advanced than the public battle areas equipped in sprite centers.
This was just an ordinary battle area, but it was splitted into a few arenas that had quite large surface areas. When a battle started, defensive light screens would spring up from the four corners of the arena to prevent sprites from accidentally injuring the audience standing outside.
There were also accompanying treatment facilities, as well as sprite doctors who had been certified by the Union.
"Over in the official battle area, there are venues with different environments but most sprites there are entry-level or elite-level."
This was the first time Su Hao had visited a battle club like this.
He looked around for an opponent.
According to the introduction given by the receptionist, apart from staff members, everyone else here could be his opponent.
As long as they confirmed it through their gazes, they could readily start a battle.
There was also a score ranking, but one had to apply for the membership card of the White Elephant Club first.
He looked over.
There weren't many people fighting right now. After all, sprites' injuries, spiritual force recovery, and other aspects all required time. Usually, a lot of spectators would be surrounding a battle stage.
"Most sprites have spiritual force in the range of 60 to 100."
No matter how low it was, its battle ability was limited.
And no matter how high it get, most had already broken through to entry level.
"Look for a battle to watch yourself."
Su Hao said to Reverie Butterfly.
It had already evolved, and was a mature sprite. It should learn to summarize battle techniques by itself, so there was no need to follow him around.
"Gurgle? Gurgle!"
The Reverie Butterfly flapped its wings and flew away.
It was already used to the training. This kind of observation and summary was something that the little rascal wouldn't resist at all. It even felt a little happy.
That was probably the contrast it had with other sprites.
Su Hao continued to look for suitable targets.
His gaze swept across the sprites one by one. Suddenly, he stopped on one of the male sprites for a slightly longer time.
This was the first time he had seen such a sprite.
It looked like a daruma toy, but it was as tall as a seven- or eight-year-old child. Its body swayed as its eyes roved about.

This sprite's cultivation level was pretty good, enough to warm up Little Fire Crow.
"Brother, wanna fight?"
He walked over.
The youth around his age looked over, casted a glance at Little Fire Crow, and asked, "What are your battle points? And your win rate?"
Su Hao was taken aback.
"You don't even have battle points. I don't fight weaklings."
The young man shook his head in disappointment, turned around and left with The Unyielding Man.
Su Hao was puzzled.
So he had just been despised by someone?
He looked for a few more people and realized that those with higher standards in the ordinary battle area looked down on a "newbie" like him.
Su Hao also looked down on those who wanted to battle him.
Disappointed.jpg.
After all, not everyone had eyes that could analyze sprites unlike his.
He walked onto an arena where no one was fighting. After taking a few looks at the instructions, he started to do something on the touch screen.
"Please scan the QR code for payment."
Su Hao originally wanted to enter 1,000, but after thinking about it, he added another zero.
A moment later…
The arena he was in started to enter defender mode.
A striking notification light immediately attracted the attention of some Sprite Trainers around.
They all looked over.
[Defender Mode: The winner will receive a reward of 10,000 Dragon Nation Dollars from the arena lord.]
[Remarks: I don't want to say this, but all of you seated, standing, and lying down are… weak!]
"Who is this arrogant person?"
"I'm afraid he hasn't experienced the harsh beating of society."
"Hurhurhur, I guess he won't be able to stand three rounds."
"What three rounds? One round is enough to knock him out."
The defender mode was purely a thankless task.
The arena lord needed to fork out the prize money and only by winning ten rounds in a row would he be able to get his deposit back. He would then also receive the same amount of reward given by the club and an arena lord medal.
The difficulty level was completely different from the rewards.
The only benefit was that it could attract a lot of opponents.
But how could there be a shortage of opponents in the battle club?
"Another foolish and rich newbie. I'll win that 10,000 yuan!"
A tall and muscular man stood up to accept the challenge, causing many Sprite Trainers who were slower to wring their hands and sigh.

The tall and muscular man brought along a Windfang Wolf that had yet to reach entry level. With sharp teeth, he glared fiercely at Little Fire Crow and let out a roar.
"Howl ~!"
"Sprite Trainers from both sides, please take your positions… battle, begin!"
The professional judge from the battle club waved his flag.
In an instant…
The man waved his arm and exclaimed, "Bonus reward, I'm coming. Get close to it and use Gale Breakthrough!"
The Windfang Wolf ran with all four limbs, approaching quickly as its fur brought about waves of wind.
It went straight for Little Fire Crow, which couldn't fly too high due to the limited space.
"Howl ~!"
"Dance, Little Fire Crow!"
The Windfang Wolf suddenly leaped up as its whole body was wrapped in the wind. Facing the rapidly expanding Windfang Wolf,
Little Fire Crow didn't dodge the slightest bit.
It even wanted to laugh.
Finally… It's my turn to show off!
Flames started burning on its claws. In an instant, it turned into a gigantic claw of fire. It tightened its three claws into a fist, and punched it out!
Hot and burning Flaming Fist!
Cheers!
The Windfang Wolf was sent flying backwards at an even faster speed, hitting the arena's light screen, causing it to ripple heavily. The Windfang Wolf then bounced back and fell onto the field, completely unconscious.
The atmosphere froze at once.
After a while, the professional judge was the first one to react as he raised the flag.
"The Windfang Wolf has lost its battle ability. Wang has failed the challenge and Su Hao has successfully defended the arena."
The tall and muscular man was still in a daze and couldn't react until the medical team carried his Windfang Wolf down from the arena.
Most of the audience couldn't react either.
It was too fast!
The Sprite Trainers who were originally eager to get the reward were stunned too.
They were glad that they were a step slower than the tall and muscular man. Otherwise, their sprite would be the one who fell unconscious on the field.
They didn't dare to go onto the arena anymore.
Little Fire Crow flew around the arena "dumbly", ruffling its feathers from time to time.
It looked very pleased.
But Su Hao sighed.
It was too bad at acting.
Reverie Butterfly would know how to deal with the enemy with the smallest amount of strength.
Little Fire Crow still needed to learn many things.
Luckily,
Perhaps it was because there were many "strong players" in the battle club, or perhaps it was the temptation of the 10,000 yuan.
Three other powerful Sprite Trainers went on the arena one after another, but they were all KO-ed by Little Fire Crow.
At this moment…
A familiar face went onto the arena.
It was the young man who previously rejected Su Hao's request for a battle.
"I didn't expect you to actually be that strong and to even have the ability to battle with me… What the f*ck!"
Little Fire Crow didn't want to listen to his nonsense, so it threw a big fireball at his sprite.
In a hurry, an earth-yellow luster appeared on the body of the Unyielding Man as it forcefully withstood the fireball.
It also triggered its "rebound" ability — after being attacked, the power of its next attack would increase slightly.
"Energy ball, blast it to death!"
A brownish yellow ball of energy, the size of a football, flew out and smashed towards Little Fire Crow in the air at an extremely fast speed.
Immediately after, two more earth-elemental energy balls appeared, forming a triangular seal on Little Fire Crow's evasion space.
"Squawk!"
Little Fire Crow folded its wings and flew out of the "Z" shape like a black arrow. It passed through the middle of the three Energy Balls and arrived in front of the Unyielding Man.
It opened its wings.
Steel Wings!
Wing Attack!
Its black wings resembled big hands, slapping the sprite left and right.
The Unyielding Man fell backwards, bounced back again, fell back again, bounced back again, and again…
After five to seven to eight rounds, it was still standing. However, its eyes were wide and round like drawn circles, and its whole body shook and swayed.
It didn't fall, but the outcome was clear enough.
After five consecutive wins, Little Fire Crow spread its black wings on the arena, sprinkling sparks everywhere.
After the spark sprinkle, Su Hao, who had a faint smile on his face, stood with his hands behind his back.
Like a demon.
Those Sprite Trainers who were defeated and stunned by a newcomer looked down in shame.
Finally…
A young man stood out, causing the surrounding Sprite Trainers to let out a low cry.

Natural Alchemist
Will is poor. This is a fact he does not like about himself. Even back at his home village he was considered poor, but poor in the big city means something completely different than poor in a small village... It means ten hour days of hard manual labor with barely enough money to survive, and poor living conditions. He's sick of it, and desperate for change. Perhaps that was what made him decide to spend such a large portion of his savings on a mysterious potion from that beggar... That, and it seemed so special when he held it. But ever since that day, he's been having the strangest dreams... And the work is really starting to take a toll on his body... Author's Note: I wasn't sure which mature content warnings I should put on this novel, as I'm pretty much pantsing the story. I'm putting them there mostly as a percaution, but also to not limit myself as to where the story can go. This is my first time writing and publishing anything substantial. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
