《Harry Potter: Blood of the Dragon 》Chapter 253: Care of Magical Creatures

If being foolish was a sport, Dolores Umbridge would have won a gold medal. The woman had no understanding of what should be touched and what not. She had no idea of the current mood of the population and often disregarded public opinion. There were even some conspiracies spreading in the ministry that some angry people were planning to throw her on the mountain the giants live in.
At the same time, the constant false support of the Wizengamot members who were against Magnus helped inflate Umbridge's ego and sense of self-importance.
So, she went as far as to bring up the matter in the next Wizengamot meeting. However, her bad days were just starting. Because unlike in normal meetings, where Magnus just hands over his vote to Dumbledore as he's at school, this time he would come personally. And he will be well prepared.
...
Hogwarts,
The first class with Professor Kettlebern was here, and Magnus was excited to start it. Why? Because he was amazing when it comes to dealing with animals, all of them seemed to just love him at first sight.
"Mag, how do you do it? The Hippogriff has already kicked 10 students, broke one's arm and another's leg, and yet here he is cuddling near you as if you're his mother?" Emma asked him in confusion and awe.
"Hehe, I guess I have an affinity with all animals. Want to pet him? Come, don't be afraid. I believe that most animals can sense fear in others, and these cheeky ones take advantage of it. So, be confident and slowly come here." He instructed her.
Everyone else was currently standing on the side and watching him play with the magical beast. Envy was clear in their eyes.
Emma slowly walked closer, followed by Ragnar. However, Severus didn't come for some reason.
"Slowly, raise your hands towards his head and wait for him to acknowledge your existence." He advised them.
Hippogriffs had the bodies, hind legs, and tails of horses, but the front legs, wings, and heads of giant eagles, with cruel, steel-coloured beaks and large, brilliantly orange eyes. They come in many colours: stormy grey, bronze, pinkish roan, gleaming chestnut, and inky black. The one Magnus was caressing was bronze, there were many more however who were just watching them.
Somehow, Kettleberg had gotten about 5 Hippogriffs to be kept here in the name of conservation.
"Remember, they are intensely proud creatures, and an individual must show proper respect by bowing to them, and waiting for them to bow in return before approaching. Eye contact should be maintained at all times, without a single blink. Hippogriff should be allowed to make the first move." He instructed them.

But Emma questioned, "You didn't do that. It was him who bowed to you, you were just eating an apple and not even looking at him."
Magnus chuckled and caressed the Hippogriff's face, "Hehe, I guess I'm just so handsome that even animals are attracted to me."
"Tsk... Narcissist." Ragnar cursed him.
But, because of that, the Hippogriff all of a sudden turned to Ragnar, with his threatening eyes and angry face.
"I TAKE MY WORDS BACK! PLEASE DON'T STOMP ON ME!" Ragnar quickly apologised.
Magnus heartily laughed and stopped the Hippogriff, "Haha, don't do that, boy. They are friends. Come, Emma,"
The Hippogriff was very calm and happy by being beside Magnus, so he let Emma touch his face and give some pats. All animals loved pats after all. But when Ragnar came, the Hippogriff first tried to bite his hand, though after some reconciliation he let him pat him.
Magnus then looked around. All the students were having trouble befriending these majestic creatures. ~Hmm, I guess this is my time to shine. Slytherin and Ravenclaw will become mine then, hehe...~
"What's with that evil smirk?" Ragnar noticed his face.
*Cough* "Nothing. Oh, Professor is here. Professor, what's his name?" Magnus inquired.
"This one's a very jolly Hippogriff, so I named him Bobby," Kettlebern said.
"BWAHAHAHA..."
"AHAHA..."
Magnus and Ragnar started laughing openly. Now looking at the Hippogriff's face they now see Bobby's face too.
"Good choice of name, Professor. I like it, and I think another friend of mine will like it. Haha..." Magnus praised.
*Lick*
Bobby the Hippogriff licked his face, prompting Magnus to laugh more, "Stop, Bobby. Don't lick me."
"Pfft... HAHA!" Ragnar howled.
"Is it some insider joke I'm too dumb to understand?" Emma asked them in confusion.
"No no... it's nothing. I will tell you later. Professor, I will go now and help others with bonding with these cute hippogriffs." Magnus moved to each Hippogriff.
All Hippogriffs welcomed him happily and made friends with him immediately. This made Magnus' job easier. He made everyone impressed with his skills.
Slowly, he helped everyone except the Gang of Slytherin members, in fact, he even told all the Hippogriffs to beat them up if they get any chance. And they did, sending a boy to the infirmary.
"See, they are very gentle creatures if you know how to work with them." He helped a few Ravenclaw girls. In the background he could see Emma glancing towards the girls, he laughed and continued.
The class ended after 2 hours and everyone returned to the castle. Magnus, however, remained there as he had to talk with Professor Kettlebern.

"So, professor. What have you decided for Lagos?" He asked.
Kettleburn was sitting in his outdoor office, a hut like the one belonging to Hagrid. Also, Hagrid was there to help the professor.
"Magnus, good work ye're doin'. Chimaera will forever be in danger if left with us folks. They're not as strong as the Nundu." Hagrid spoke, feeding a baby Hippogriff.
Kettleburn was deep in thought, "Can I see where he will be living?"
"No, I'm afraid not. That place is a high-level secret. Animals from many endangered species live there in peace. It's better if the place remains a secret. Don't worry, those animals are not made to do anything by humans. They are left in nature to play and enjoy. Their food is also taken care of so they never go hungry." Magnus tried to assure the professor.
*WHISTLE*
Kettleburn whistled, and soon a cheerful Chimaera ran to them. But he first jumped towards Magnus and received some pets on his fluffy head.
"He really likes you. I've never seen him like this before. *Sigh* Truly, if it was someone else I would have been shocked, but knowing whom you are related to, It seems normal." Kettleburn said, talking about Magnus' heritage.
"I have a way with animals and beasts. Hmm, I wonder if I can go to the zoo and make myself a real Noah's Ark. Well, I guess I know what I'm doing in next summer holidays." Magnus muttered, shaking everyone with his crazy ideas.
"Take him. It's better if he's given a better home. I would like him to have his own family and live happily." Kettleburn emotionally said and stroked Lagos' mane.
Taking the cue, Magnus called Abe to the grounds. Since it was outside the castle, nobody suspected the appearance of the elf. "Abe, take the Chimaera to Grandma. She will talk to him and teach him how to live there."
Abe was first of all scared. The moment he appeared he jumped behind Magnus in fright. But then Magnus helped him become friends with the Chimaera.
"I will go now, sir." Abe put his hand on the beast and vanished.
Hagrid nodded after seeing this outcome. "Terrific beings, them elfs. I 'member, meself once had a drinking buddy who was an elf. Poor lad died under his master's abuse."
Magnus sighed hearing that, "Abuse and elf are words that go hand in hand these days. Too bad the ministry does not stand for them either."
"Argh... 'Em Ministry folks are dunderheads. They care not fer us, half-breeds, forget entirely different species." Hagrid said. But, the gentle giant didn't seem sad at all.
*Pat Pat*
Magnus patted Hagrid's arm, "How are you liking the new wand, my big friend?"
Hagrid gave a cheerful laugh, "Haha... life's never been this easy, Magnus. Yeh have my thousand thanks."
"Glad I could help. I will leave now for my next class. See you later," He said his bye and left.
...
Magnus later that day went to his office under the teacher's housing wing of the castle. There, he greeted Adrian, who had returned from South Africa and had resumed his work.
Magnus had asked him some things a few days ago, "This is all the information about Dolores Umbridge, from her birth to now."
Magnus read the documents and cheered, "Haha, this is going to help me a lot. Good job, Adrian. How is your family by the way? Your wife and kids?"
Adrian felt grateful that Magnus asked him this, "They are living an ordinary life, sir. Though both my children have shown accidental magic, they're just 5 right now so we have a long way to go until school."
Magnus nodded but gave a suggestion, "You should send your children to muggle schools, for now, that will give them a different and better attitude towards life. They will understand the duel nature of being a wizard as well as a human. Oh, also take a cell phone from the company store and give one to your wife. The better we're all connected, the safer we will feel. Bobby is going to roll out country-wide service in a few weeks, then we will both be able to talk on the phone."
"That will save a lot of time, sir." Adrian thought about its convenience.
But Magnus reminded him of dangers, "Yes, but not for you. It will cause you more headaches because now you will have to investigate phone calls too, also your phone calls can be tapped. Hence, I still want the MEDA wizards to use phones for non-work related things only, or if you do use it then talk in code words."
"Yes, I will start working on this as soon as I return." Adrian solemnly noted this important thing. His company was involved in many huge cases and knew secrets that could destroy countries. So, secrecy was very important to them.
Once Adrian was gone, Magnus started making points from the report. "Hmm, Umbridge, when you poke a snake's nest, you should expect a venomous bite."
