《Harry Potter: Blood of the Dragon 》Chapter 231: Schemes

Magnus stared them in the eye, "Do you know, as soon as you attacked me, you committed treason, and the punishment for treason has been for ages... DEATH!"
"Y-You can't kill us. Lord Malfoy promised us riches, we... we will give it all to you. Please let us go." they pleaded, crying as snots fell off their noses on their moustaches.
Magnus scoffed, "Do you really think out of all the people, I would need money? Hah, I got more than I can spend, and still make more every day."
"We will give you our land, mansions and all magical wealth. We are just followers of Lord Malfoy, and we didn't even come here to kill you, we're here for the Goblin. Please, don't kill us, you can't kill us..." They cried.
Magnus coldly looked at the three of them and replied, "Oh but I can, after all, If I want to be a good cleaner, I should not be afraid of getting my hands dirty."
He proceeded to secretly use Legilimency to get to the bottom of it all so he could understand if what they said was true. Was Lucious finally making a move? But it seemed so pathetic, after all, Magnus had defeated many more wizards in a direct flight before and it was known to all.
However, what they said about coming for Zenrok alerted him. He looked at everything in their minds that they had to offer. After that, he decided on the punishment.
"Does not matter who you came for, you attacked the Royal Prince of Great Britain, which accounts to treason," Magnus said and plunged his sword into the chest of the first man. The other two tried to get up but were quickly dealt with by him.
The men, who were a mix of ministry Aurors and MEDA security personnel, looked at this with doubtful eyes, wondering if it killing was the right thing to do, and worse, was letting Magnus kill them with such instant trial and judgement was the right thing?
Magnus pulled back his sword from the neck of the last man. "I made a mess, should've kept it clean."
"Your Majesty, was killing them necessary?" A man from MEDA asked.
"Of course, they came here not to kill me but to kill Zenrok and his family. We can't let our dear Goblins suffer when we can stop it. So, killing them was also very important... beca..."
"AVADA KE... *SLASH*"
Magnus was interrupted by a wild Avada Kedavara out of nowhere, actually, it was directly behind him. Magnus moved with precision and before the spell could be completed he cut the man's wand holding hand.

"Ah, betrayal. What a strange plot-twisting night." Magnus muttered.
"AAAAAAAA..." the man fell down to his knees crying in pain as a fountain of blood spewed out of his severed veins.
Magnus finally put away his sword, "Because of this."
He just completed the sentence he was saying before. The Aurors and MEDA agents were left in shock, they didn't expect the attack to come from their own ranks.
Magnus looked at the man's face, he didn't help him or try to heal his wounds, "Hmm, I haven't seen him before in MEDA. Who is he?"
The Aurors felt cold sweat run down their foreheads and backs. The leader of the 4 Aurors who had come spoke up, "Sir, this person is one of ours, Euclid Thomas. He's been in the ministry for 15 years and has been serving as an Auror for 5."
Magnus scoffed, "The number of years of service does not matter, don't forget, Oscar had been in the ministry for years too, yet he was secretly running a child trafficking gang. Sadly, it seems the ministry has again gone lax, the Death Eaters have invaded it.
"I was able to deal with this strike because the three men before were under the Imperius curse. They indeed came here to kill the Goblin, but my arrival changed the plans and this sleeper cell Auror was activated to kill me. Don't worry, I didn't kill the three men, that was all fake." Magnus assured them and went to the three men. He took out his wand and cast some spells on them, waking them up.
All three started crying immediately and apologised to Magnus. "Your Majesty, we... we are your supporters, we didn't want to attack you."
Magnus handed them a glass of water, "Don't worry, I know everything. You gather yourself and breathe."
"Take that man to Ministry dungeons, inform the minister about what had happened. Also, inform the Bank that their head warrior Goblin was just attacked by the dark lord's donkeys," he ordered them. They dared not to make any mistakes anymore.
Magnus sighed after they left. It was a good thing he had used Legilimency to read their minds.
He turned to Zenrok, "Forgive me, I think they now know about your involvement in hunting the Death Eaters. They tried to deal with both of us."
Zenrok was no goblin to be afraid of fighting. "I knew they would come after me sooner rather than later, but not so brazenly."

"What are you going to do now? Continue hunting?" Magnus inquired.
Zenrok's brows rose, "I don't know, maybe start something new, what I do know is I want to get out of this mindless hunting business, it makes me feel worthless."
Magnus smiled cheek to cheek, "Then, why not join me? I can use the help of the philosopher Goblin in bringing the world together. After all, my dream is for peace, not just for humans but for all species."
"What will be the job?" Zenrok inquired.
"Nothing about fighting, instead you will be needed to change the mentality of the Goblins from being greedy and passive about their rights to becoming active. They need to take a firm stand against the Dark Lord this time, or else, their image will never improve." He advised.
Magnus did not tell him about the existence of the Order of Merlin, after all, it was supposed to be a secret organisation. For now, Zenrok was going to be a trial member of the order. If he does well, then he will be rewarded with a full membership.
"I want you to gain followers who hold similar thoughts as you. Later, you all can exert your pressure on the whole Goblin community to start talking about your personal lives more instead of just the gold." He said.
Zenrok thought for a few minutes. He felt like there was an urge from somewhere, telling him to join Magnus, and that it would lead to glory.
He looked at the faces of his wife and son. They looked tense too, maybe they had also sensed the uneasiness in Zenrok's heart but were afraid of asking for not being able to help.
~The change should always start from oneself.~ Zenrok thought and nodded.
"I will join you, your Majesty." He agreed.
Both sides shook hands and Magnus made him sign on a paper.
...
Gringotts,
A small council was called in, the matter of discussion was of course the attack on Magnus and Zenrok.
"Declare the Death Eaters an enemy of Goblins, and seize their accounts. They hold no regard for anyone, even going after Zenrok." The manager of the bank spoke.
"INCREASE THE HUNT FOR THOSE PESTS!" Old Mace, the overall director of Warrior Goblins, raged.
However, there were too many voices in the council against taking drastic measures as it would lead to less money, in the end, no agreement was reached. But a crack had appeared in their organisation. Some had started to wonder, "Was it worth it to turn a blind eye even when injustice is happening to one of their own?"
...
Ministry of Magic,
Eugenia was shocked by the news. The attacks on Magnus were pretty normal things, but an attack by an Auror himself was a worrisome point. No matter what, this meant that the Ministry was fully compromised, going so far as to launch such attacks.
She called Moody to her office and gave him a very important task. "Your job is to completely audit the ministry, from head to toe, not a single person is to be left out, no matter what their status is or what family they belong to. This time, all will come under the radar. If you find any sleeper agents, kill them or arrest them if you can."
"Haha, Magnus will be coming soon, prepare yourself. I will do what you told me for the time being. Good Merlin's beard, I'm lucky I rejected the position of the minister before." Moody left her office in a mocking laugh.
Seeing him leave, Eugenia frowned, "But why did they choose to attack so clumsily? What was their aim?"
"MADAM!" her focus was broken when suddenly her assistant ran inside. She had a newspaper in her hand.
"Look at what they have published." She put forward a newspaper that was not under Magnus or Ministry's influence.
The report was simple, it showed a photograph of Magnus killing the three men and then smiling. Eugenia immediately understood everything.
*Sigh*
"So they want to play a cold war with Magnus. Let's see if they can hold on for long, this kind of war is sometimes costlier than normal wars." She muttered to herself and massaged her temples.
*POP*
"SURPRISE SURPRISE! Your favourite headache has arrived." A voice came from the seat opposite to Eugenia. She knew who it was, as none other had the permission to teleport into the office.
[A/N: According to the canon information, a Goblin family near Nottingham was indeed murdered by the Death Eaters, sadly, nobody was there to save them like here.]
