《Harry Potter: Blood of the Dragon 》Chapter 135: Finally, a Secretary

In the back of the car were clothes, a lot of clothes. It looked as if George had robbed a store or something. But, all of them were brand new with tags on.
Magnus called Sister Mary over, "These are the clothes for kids, for both summer and winter. Distribute them as you see fit."
Feeling overwhelmed ever since her meeting with Magnus started, she got emotional while taking the clothes. In this day and age, finding people who do charity for no return is very rare. And here, a kid was setting the example.
She wanted to shed some tears but couldn't as kids were around and seeing her sad they would get sad.
"Why are you doing all this?" She asked, to at least know about his motivation.
Magnus continued to unload the various bags of clothes, "Because I felt like it. You don't really wake up in the morning with the thought of helping someone. As long as a person has a good heart, kindness will spontaneously come out of them."
Grace smiled and helped him. She loved how Magnus still held onto the good upbringing they gave him. He may have gotten a bit mysterious nowadays but she and Adam still lived in peace because they knew he was a kind child.
*CAR SKIDS*
The sudden noise alerted everyone. A car stopped right behind the Range Rover. And out of it came a well dressed but messy black-haired lady. She was wearing a professional black blazer and skirt. She was most likely in her 20s and a fresh graduate.
"I'M HERE... Boss Ted sent me. Who is Mr Grant?" She asked all.
Magnus went ahead, "I am, are you my new assistant?"
But, her face froze with her mouth wide open. She was new to the Law Firm and didn't know a lot about the history of the company. She got the job because her dad was a friend of Ted, but she sucked at paralegal work. Hence, she was told she would be made an assistant of a big businessman who owns too much to manage everything alone.
She knew she was good at managing stuff and was pumped for this job, working for a super-rich person was a good opportunity to make contacts and learn.
But, now, she felt like her whole world came down crashing, as the big businessman turned out to be a small kid. She wondered if this was a joke or something.
"Y-You? Mr Grant? The super-rich businessman?" She asked nervously.
"Yes, I am. Why? Am I too handsome to be a businessman and should be an actor instead?" Magnus jokingly asked. He could hear Ragnar calling him narcissistic from a distance.

"Eh... No... But you're too... Younger than I expected." She said.
"Ah, you heard 'super rich' and 'big business' and immediately guessed it would be some fat unhealthy old man. Well, do you need my bank receipt to believe me? Okay, I'll tell you something.
"Do you know about MEDA?" He asked.
"Of course, it's the best private investigative agency." She proudly replied. She had met the CEO of it.
"Yeah, I own it." Magnus dropped the bomb. With that, her jaw fell.
"Do you know about Dragon Holdings?" He asked again.
"Yes, they are the biggest client of Tonks & Tonks." She replied.
"I'm its owner." He again dropped the bomb. Now, her jaw fell even lower.
Magnus scratched his head, "Ah... What else do I own? Umm... Well, there are going to be many more companies... AH, yes... I also own the Chrysler Building in Manhattan."
Now her jaw was touching the floor. She realised that he wasn't just some super-rich, this was super duper ultra-rich.
Grace though came forward and lightly pulled his cheek, "When did you buy the building? Are you squandering your money again?"
Magnus acted like he was hurt, "Ah, mummy. You know me, I never waste money. It's an investment."
Though he couldn't tell her he bought it by mistake.
He looked back at his new assistant pitifully, ~I'm afraid if I tell her about my kingship anytime soon she will stop breathing.~
"So, how can I address you?" Magnus inquired.
She immediately gathered herself. "Yes... Ah... I-I'm Venessa Green. You can call me however you want. Oh, I also brought the contractor as you requested."
Magnus acknowledged, "We will discuss the terms of your employment later, my mum might want to have a few words with you. For now, let's get to work. Mr...?"
The contractor immediately came forward while rubbing his hands. He had realised from the talk that Magnus was super-wealthy and influential, he hadn't heard about the companies but knew about the Chrysler Building. He could smell some opportunities from the rich little boy.
"You can just call me Rob, sir." He acted like he was Magnus subordinate.
"Well, Rob, how big is your business?" Magnus inquired.
"I oversee 600 workers, sir. We hire more as per the need. My father owns and runs the company. We are proficient at all kinds of building construction." He told Magnus.
"Okay, I may have a giant project for you later, but this is going to be a test for you. The better you perform, the better your chances of bagging the deal. I want this Orphanage upgraded. Increase its size to another floor. Change the slanted roof to a concrete flat roof. Modernise all the pipelines. Put printed tiles on the floor. Also, create a big extension to the side, where we will create an auditorium. It can be used for multiple purposes, from holding indoor sports events to singing and dancing events.

"Then, outside create a small playground with kid-friendly and safe swings, seesaws and slides. I want all this done within 3 weeks." He ordered.
Rob was trying to write all the demands in his small handbook. The more he heard Magnus the more he felt coming here was worth it.
He looked at the building and made some judgement, "Hmm, the building seems very old. We will have to strengthen the foundation and add some beam columns for a new floor. Aside from that, all upgrades can easily be done. 3 weeks is enough if I push my workers."
"And what do you estimate the cost will be?" Magnus asked.
"Around 5... 5000 pounds (50k in today's market.)," Rob said hesitantly.
Magnus nodded. "You have 8000 pounds(92k in today's market.) First build the auditorium, so that the kids can sleep there when you work on the main building. And make sure no child gets harmed due to an accident."
Meanwhile, Sister Mary was feeling dumbfounded. You could buy a new big house in 8000. And here it was just being spent on upgrading.
Magnus then sent Rob away to bring the team of workers. While everyone went inside the building. Sister Mary and Grace started giving the excited kids their clothes. Magnus spoke to his new secretary and Ragnar was put to keep a watch over David at Magnus' behest.
...
Venessa stiffly sat in front of Magnus and listened to him speak.
"Okay, your job is going to be to do as I say and manage the tasks given to you. As you already know about Dragon Holdings, you should know that I own a lot of companies, and their number is only going to increase. Your job will be to coordinate with them and inform me about their situations.
"Besides this, I will be starting a very big construction project, so you'll have to keep an eye on it too. But do understand that you are my representative, you don't have to do everything yourself, instead, you have to gather information from various people working for me and attend some meetings or calls for me.
"You will later have to hire financial experts and more managing assistants as the scale of my company grows. But first, you must learn the know-how of my business.
"Your salary will be 2 thousand pounds a month. This will be your starting salary and will only increase in the future. Any questions?" He briefed her and asked.
She nervously spoke, "Sir... Is there an office where I will work from?"
"Of course, I own the building Tonks & Tonks and MEDA are situated in. The top floor of the building is Dragon Holdings' headquarters. But only the Audit team stays there as they oversee the smooth financial work of all subsidiaries. You will rank higher than them. We also have a US office on the top floor of the Chrysler Building. You will have to go to the US in the future so you will be using it.
"Also, let me remind you, as I'm still a kid, I have to attend boarding school. I stay busy during the whole year, but I get holidays on Christmas and Summer. But I can still operate my business from there, so you will be receiving calls from me. Next year, something called Wireless phones will come into the market, not only we will be buying them but also investing in the sector.
"Until then, make sure you are near a telephone most of the time."
All these requirements were clear as day. The pay was also very good, much more than she was getting paid at Tonks & Tonks.
Excited and pumped, she suddenly slapped her own face, alerting Magnus.
*PA PA*
"Got it, sir. I will not disappoint you." She confidently assured him.
"Hehe, good. Go and chat with children now, they would like to talk to a big sister like you." Magnus told her.
Another reason for sending her was that Ragnar had contacted him mentally. Telling him to silently come upstairs.
Magnus quietly went upstairs and arrived outside a room. Ragnar was silently peeking inside the room. Magnus went behind him and talked to him mentally.
"What's going on?" Magnus asked.
"That boy you told me about... something is very weird about it. He was just talking to another boy and mistakenly burned the other guy's clothes." Ragnar revealed.
"Why were they playing with matchsticks?" Confused, Magnus asked.
"That's the thing. They were not playing with matchsticks. Fire came out of his hand spontaneously. I think he is a wizard, but why is his magic bursting out like that?" Ragnar hypothesised but was uncertain.
Knowing this, Magnus quickly had a thought in his mind, a reason why such a thing was happening.

Wander West, in Shadow
BOOK 1 COMPLETED A young wizard journeys west, through dark forests and dangerous lands, searching for something. Accompanied by a wild witch who has secrets of her own, they come across terrible creatures, hauntings, cursed villages, and memories from their past. Who else will they meet along their journey, and to find what he is looking for, how far will the wizard have to wander west? NOTE: The above synopsis is intentionally written to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you would like a more in-detail synopsis, one that contains minor spoilers, please check out the "Synopsis" chapter at the beginning of this fiction. If you read and enjoy, please leave a rating or review! FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.

Esper: Search for Power
Dan Martin has a good life. He's respected at his job, and enjoys his work. He is close to his family, and they love and support him. With engaging hobbies, relative financial security, and freedom to learn and pursue his interests, Dan is happy. So it's not particularly welcome when he's selected by an inscrutable and seemingly omnipotent System as a test subject. The downsides: All of this is insane and by any rational analysis he's gonna die. The upsides: Super powers, a cure for a physical disability that had limited him, and above all, so very much to learn (for as long as he can avoid dying). I am very much a beginner as an author, and any feedback or suggestions on how to improve would be deeply appreciated. Chapter releases should be daily for the first two weeks and sporadic after that as I use up my buffer. Please consider this work as a rough draft subject to revision and/or retcon. It is not only my first attempt at original story telling, but at world building and RPG style system design. The latter has been very difficult, even drawing on the brilliant work of many RPGs and LitRPGs for inspiration. Thank you to any willing to give a new story and a new writer a try!
