《Harry Potter: Blood of the Dragon 》Chapter 54: Money = Happiness*

After writing the letter, he packed it nicely. Soon, he saw Summer bringing more parcels for other kids.
*Whistle*
"Come here, girl." He called out.
Hearing him, the owl happily flew to him. She looked at him in wonder, as she had no more letters for him.
"Summer, I want you to send this letter for me. Okay? When you come back tomorrow, I will have new tasty food for you." He promised.
*HOOT*
She jumped in joy and took the letter away. After that, he got up from his seat. "Ragnar, Severus, you two wait for me. I got something to talk about with Sirius."
The two were eating so they just waved their hands. Since they had started practising with Magnus, they tend to get more hungry.
Magnus, again shocking all, went to Sirius. But, considering he was from a pure-blood family, most Slytherin felt less weird about this.
"Sirius, can I get the contact details for your Cousin Sister, Andromeda's husband?" He asked.
Sirius had his mouth stuffed with food. "Ha? W-hy do you need that?"
"He's a lawyer, right? I need him to do something for me. I can't really go to a muggle lawyer and show him the gold I own." Magnus said.
Sirius nodded, "Cool, I will give you the address later. Now let me eat."
Magnus then looked at James with a smirk, "Heh, see in the field soon."
...
It was another normal day today. Magnus had an Astronomy class in the morning. It was absolutely boring as all they read was about stars and whatnot. It lacked the real knowledge that was available in the Muggle world.
"Professor, you do know that Muggles have already sent a machine to Mars and have successfully taken photos of that place. They have also sent humans to the moon." Magnus voiced.
The teacher, of course, just like other ignorant people of the magical world, had no idea. She refuted Magnus' claim.
"You can confirm it later. Just buy any book related to astronomy." He countered.
So, the class was mostly spent arguing with her. Magnus knew more than her in the subject she was to teach. He didn't try to shame her or damage her reputation, but he really didn't like it as she was giving half knowledge.
After this class, they had free time until lunch. So, Magnus decided to study the runic language and decode the book of Merlin. He was back in his dorm room. Ragnar also followed him as he was slightly interested in Runes.

"Seriously, why don't you just tell me what is in it?" Magnus asked.
"I don't know. He did not give this knowledge to me." The Merlin in portrait said.
"Huh, as useless as ever." Arthur scoffed from the side of Merlin.
*Sigh*
"The only thing I have been able to decipher is the title of the book. It just says, "Art of creating spells." and if this really is a book about it, then this truly is precious and deserves to be kept away from the public. I can't imagine the dark things people would have made if all knew how to make spells." Magnus said.
He spent a long time deciphering it word by word. But it was taking a lot of time. So, he decided to stop it now. He had an idea but it would take some time to implement.
"Merlin, don't you have some magic to teach me? Also, when will I get my wand? You said I am not ready, but how do I know what I need to accomplish to be considered ready?" he asked.
Merlin, in the portrait, shrugged his shoulders. "How would I know? I am just a portrait. I can only know as much as the creator allowed me to know."
*Sigh*
"So you two are useless? Arthur has already taught me all the swordsmanship he knew, now he just fools around and says vague things. You, on the other hand, can't help me with magic." Magnus muttered.
"Actually, I helped you with Mind arts, I can also help you with all the magical subjects of Hogwarts. The knowledge that is being kept from you by that Merlin soul shard is for your own good, it is probably too big, dark and magic heavy that knowing it might do you harm. Also, I used to use a staff, so maybe that is why no wand is good on you." Merlin said.
"All things aside, tell me if you can make Liquid luck? Maybe then I will consider you good." Magnus asked.
"I can, I learned from the best potioneer, Salazar Slytherin. That old man was so good at all things he did, just if he had a good brain, things could have been different for the British wizarding world." Merlin reminisced.
"Heh, I will use your abilities later then. Okay, it's time to go to the Potions class. Gryffindor will be with us, time to mess with Sirius again." Magnus happily left.

Once he was gone, Merlin sighed. "Sometimes, he acts like he's an adult, but then quickly reminds you that he's still a child. Seriously, what's with his attraction towards liquid luck and gold."
"Maybe our blood got fully combined in him and he is showing draconic tendencies?" Arthur guessed.
"Maybe, but then can he still be called a human?" Merlin wondered. The question was so bizarre that he had no answer to this.
...
The Potions class started. Today, they were to make a Strength Potion. Once consumed, it gives the user increased strength for a while.
Magnus was teamed with his nemesis Emma, while the two greatest potioneers, Snape and Ragnar, were in one team, and it was overkill.
Magnus protested, "Come one, professor, not with her. She doesn't listen to anything."
"Haha, this is just a Potions class, Mr Pendragon, I have trust that you can do it." Slughorn shrugged.
Magnus bit his lips and got to work. He put the cauldron on fire and put water in it. Apparently, in most potions, water was the base component.
Magnus slowly put the ingredients in the pot. But then Emma grabbed his hand and stopped him.
"WAIT! you are doing it wrong." She said.
"No, I am doing exactly as said in the book. And if doing this does not make the perfect potion then I am going to sue the author and the publication who brought this book into existence," Magnus frustratingly declared.
"Okay, what is your problem? I am being nice to you now." Emma argued with him.
"Well, you butt in all the time and try to prank me." He complained.
"Because it is fun. Do you have any idea how boring it is in Slytherin dorms? All the girls talk about is who was handsome today, who smelled nicer. While I see you have so much genuine fun, so I just wanted to join in." She explained.
Magnus was taken aback. He had thought that she was just being childish and spiteful.
"Ah, sorry. I was being too hormonal, it seems. I did not talk to you properly. Now, if you just wanted to have fun, you should have told me. I am always up for some fun. Also, I understand your side. The Slytherin is indeed too boring. There are those blood supremacists and then those who are scared of them." Magnus said.
Magnus then continued, "But are you sure, if you get too close to me and my friends then they will also target you. Unlike me, you will be all alone in the girls' dorms."
"It's fine. Sister Narcissa is nice to us. She never lets anyone bully anyone, no matter how different their views are. So, by the time she graduates, I will make sure to assert dominance," she answered confidently.
Magnus chuckled, "HAHA... and to that, I'd say, 10 points to Slytherin. Let's make the potion now."
But Magnus noticed Snape writing something in his book, "What are you doing?"
"Improving the recipe. Whomever this author was, he was amateur at best," Snape said.
Magnus immediately had an idea in his mind, "You know what, Snape. Do you want to get super-rich?"
Snape looked at Magnus, stopping everything he was doing. "How?"
"Hah, by selling your improved potions' formula. First, we patent it, then undermine what's written in the book with the help of an article in the newspaper. Then, you authorise the use of a new formula to shops and large scale users for a price." Magnus suggested.
"But who would be crazy enough to publish an article for a kid?" Snape asked.
Suddenly, they heard a voice from the side, "Oh, dear. It's okay. Try again, you can do it."
Magnus' face grew a big greedy smile, "I think I found our guy. Let's talk to him in today's Slug Club meeting this evening."
Magnus knew how tough the situation of Snape was. Money could obviously solve many of his troubles.
Magnus, although young, had read the line "Money can't buy you happiness." But, he had a different idea.
~It sure can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you things that make you happy.~

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
