《Spaceships and Magic, What Could Possibly Go Wrong? 》Chapter 131: Revelations of The Maw

I walked back into the teleporter and commanded the computer to take me to the floor my quarters were on.
The machinery whirred up and the familiar white glow of teleportation whisked me away to another of the pads.
I emerged directly into my quarters themselves, there was a teleportation pod situated in the corner of the room.
That was a smart move from the designers of the ship.
If something went wrong, or I was desperately needed on the bridge at a moments notice, I could dive straight into the teleporter practically from bed to be taken to the command deck. No waiting or messing around running down a corridor.
As it stood, I didn't want to do anything close to jumping into a teleporter to deal with an emergency, I just wanted to get into bed and attempt to sleep the horrors of the previous day away.
I shrugged my way out of my clothes, leaving them in a pile on the floor, and all but collapsed in my bed snuggling up into the covers like the filling of a burrito.
"Computer," I mumbled in my sleepiness, "Set an alarm for six hours from now, but wake me immediately if things go pear-shaped."
A small triple beep sounded off in the room, which I took to mean an affirmative.
With that sorted, I let myself drift off into the thankful clutches of sleep.
xXx
"Huh, What was that?" I all but yelled, springing out of my bed aboard the ship.
Except.
I wasn't in my bed aboard the ship.
Seemingly, I wasn't anywhere.
Blank whiteness stretched on for an eternity in every direction, without any walls or floors to denote that I was in any kind of room. If I had to describe it, I'd say it looked like the exact opposite of the Chasm in every way.

Where the Chasm had been a realm of blinding darkness, this was a realm of infinite light.
"Where… the hell am I?" I asked again, reaching to push BB down into our Synchro state… only to realise that the sensation I usually had of my constant companion was just no longer there.
I was defenceles.
"You are in my abode," said a feminine voice, seemingly from everywhere and nowhere at all. "I am the Goddess, and you are trespassing in my realm."
Well, that didn't sound great. That didn't sound great at all. In fact, that sounded equal parts bad and dangerous.
"I… I'm sorry. I don't even understand how I got here, let alone how to leave," I said. "I just went to sleep on my ship and then, poof, I woke up here."
There was a moment of silence, and I couldn't help but feel like the infinite white before me was judging me somehow. It made me want to run and hide and never look back, but there was nowhere to do any of those things.
"I brought you to the here and now, Human," The voice all but sneered, "But that is not what I meant. I meant the universe that you have inhabited, my domain, you have intruded upon it."
A sliver of ice ran down my spine.
She was the goddess of the universe that I had been reincarnated in, and if this conversation was anything to go by then she clearly hadn't been consulted about my arrival… and she didn't approve of it either.
"I had considered burning your spirit out of the body you stole the moment you arrived, but instead I waited," The ethereal voice continued, "I waited to see what kind of man you would become, what actions you would take. Fortunately for you, I was pleased by what I saw."

I let out a breath I didn't even realise I was holding, greedily gasping in a fresh lungful of air.
Could it be that she didn't mind after all, then?
But if that were the case, why even summon me to this weird void in the first place?
"You have helped many people since arriving in my domain, and have pledged yourself to fight against the creatures of the Chasm, that is why I bestowed upon you the system that is helping to advance and regulate your manna usage," The Goddess said.
My mind felt as if it flickered. On one minute, stalled the next.
The creatures of the Chasm?
The Null Space Invaders were from the Chasm?
The Chasm was Null Space?
"You truly didn't know, did you? That the creatures who saved you from death were one and the same as those who were threatening all of creation."
Threatening… all of creation?
"I don't understand! All they said was that I needed to live a fruitful life, do things with meaning, and that then I could be reunited with my family in the afterlife!" I yelled out loud. "They hadn't said anything about universal destruction."
The entity that called herself the goddess cackled with a peal of laughter, "And you believed them? I knew Humans could be gullible, but you really believed that the giant shadowy creatures in a realm called 'The Chasm' just wanted you to live a happily ever after?"
But… "If it's not all about reuniting with my family, then why would they send me here? Why reincarnate souls so that they may live meaningful lives at all?"
"Ah, well that's just the thing, isn't it," The Goddess said, quieter and more sombre now. "They do need you to live a meaningful life, but it's not for you to gain access to the afterlife. It is for something else entirely…"
I swallowed hard. Did I want to know? Did I want to know the answer to the journey that I had set myself on?
"Tell me, why are they doing this?" I asked, desperation clear in my voice.
"They want your soul to be rich and powerful," She said simply. "So they can feed it to the beast below, the thing at the well of all the multiverse, the true enemy of all life.
"So they can feed it… To The Maw."

Forgotten Dungeon
Death comes quickly and without warning. Even for such little personage as him. It's quite hard to start as a dungeon core. Quite harder when divine bureaucracy simply dumps you in the a** end of nowhere because of their incompetence and because of your agent status as a Fallen Angel. Yet Uno (temporary name) is used to working with subpar materials and making the best of circumstances. It doesn't help that his personality was cut down to size, but he tries to overcome the system with ingenuity and a healthy dose of duct tape. Or the local equivalent of such. *** An audiobook of the Forgotten Dungeon story has been made by Agro Squerrils and is available on YouTube, under this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcfzFNUhrNS3Z7DfjN5pMWn-CI1uKg3s2 He has my permission and full support for doing so, so don't be shy and check it out! *** Hello people! It's a story about a dungeon. Or maybe the dungeon? Who knows. Dumped in a hostile world, working hard to overcome circumstances. There is an RPG system in place, but I'll try to make it not number-heavy. I would be more focused on skills - at least from the perspective of the sentient races. Dungeons will have their own little playground. I'll try to make MC not overpowered - it always irks me how the stories tend to go from zero to hero in a few minutes. I hope y'all will enjoy the ride! *** Also, a Discord server has been made recently: https://discord.gg/sK2pam3 Join and share your opinions, if interested! :)

Re:volutionist
I died and then received an offer to be reincarnated in a Fantasy World. The problem is - I'm not exactly gonna be a ""hero"" of that world, this wasn't really an offer to begin with, and that strange shapeless black entity who gave me that ""offer"" wasn't really trustworthy... or sane. Now I am alone in the world that wants me dead. The world I am supposed to ruin as a part of a game I don't understand. I don't even know who plays that game... but it looks like it's a game in which everyone - from pawns to players - is trying to cheat.**********Mature Content Warning - foul language, gore (in the future), potential sex scenes (in the future).

What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
