《Stacking My Abilities 》Chapter 22: The Mission Machine (8)

Looking around with [Aura Vision], Jeff fixated his gaze in a direction.
Walking into a clothing store, jumping over manikins, accidentally knocking over a few shelves, Jeff arrived his destination - a small pile of clothing, wood, broken plastic pieces, and other garbage.
Brushing a bra out the way, Jeff picked up a bracelet. The bells attached made crisp tinkle sounds. A glint-tier drop.
Looking around, Jeff couldn't spot any other visible drops. They may exist, but it'll be a lot of digging work to find them... Or, just to find out no other drops exist in the end.
Having retrieved this loot, Jeff headed back towards the atrium.
Even without [Haste] on, Jeff returned to the atrium in seconds.
Looking at the trio inside the dome, they were all holding their breath, awaiting for the victor return, and awaiting their fate to be sealed.
Seeing Jeff, they sighed in relief.
"What the fuck was that!" Everly asked.
She seemed... a little excited? As if she wanted to try herself?
"A mana projectile overloaded with mana and psychic energy." Jeff replied. "To the point of detonation."
(Kind of like a balloon popping if you blow too much air into it.)
"So we are good now?" Barry asked hesitantly.
The dude had a mixed expression. A little tired. And a little constipated?
"Cause I can't keep this up for much longer."
"Yeah. We are good now." Jeff showed the trio his bell drop.
"Phew..." Barry sat onto the floor.
The dome slowly dimmed. The glowing liquid on the floor started to evaporate away.
"So did you blow up her energy core." Barry asked.
"There was no... energy core." Jeff hesitantly replied. He hated to break it to Barry, but it's the truth.

"Don't worry man. I'm not going to cry over being wrong." Barry seemed interested in hearing more.
"Well... How do I describe the situation..." Jeff thought for a moment. "It's more like a psychic life form. Basically a ghost with telekenesis capabilities."
"But if she needed physical strength, she would need to build herself a body with the mist first."
"Based on my experience, you can only fend off psychic energy with psychic energy."
Everly raised her brows like she's not impressed. "Can't you just make a ball of psychic energy and fuck her up with that?"
"If I could have done that, I would have done that." Jeff's cheek twitched a little.
Unfortunately, Mage Jeff of the fantasy world was still dirt poor. Both Jeffs would like to cast fancy spells. But spell tomes weren't cheap. And Mage Jeff still wanted to be cautious, and train a bit more...
So. Yeah. At the moment, Jeff could only direct streams of mana energy, or psychic energy, out of his body, kind of like piss, yes. And fill up an equipment with that energy. Then activate it... Or overload it into detonation...
"Well Jeff. You've kept your words." Liam tossed the glow-tier dagger over. "I'll give you the rest at the Sanctuary."
"Sounds good to me." Jeff tapped the sheathed dagger onto his palm. His job was pretty much done here. Another mission completed.
Looked like Barry still needed a moment of resting.
Walking up to the tree, Jeff pressed his hand onto the bark.
"What is this thing?" Jeff asked.
After all of that, this fruit tree only lost a few leaves. No branches snapped off. No fruits fell off.
"Top-Secret." Liam replied with a mysterious smile. "If you want to know, you'll have to become a sanctuary security agent first."

Jeff: ...
This job offer again...
"Are you a sanctuary security agent?"
"Research specialist."
"Oh." Jeff looked up the tree in thought. 'We might have visitors...'
A moment later...

A moment later, Barry stood up with his tablet.
Glowing runic letters flowed down from Barry's tablet.
Spilling onto the ground, the pool of runic letters crept up this fruit tree. Another part of it had seeped down into the ground.
Time slowly slipped by... One minute... Two minutes...
Five minutes later, the entire tree was finally fully enveloped by sparse runic characters.
"Shrink!" Barry shouted.
