《Rise of the Horde 》Chapter 75

Dug'mhar and his Rumbling Clan pursued the remaining Screech Demons that were trying their best to fly away.
It etched a satisfied smile on Dug'mhar's lips as he ushered his Rhakaddon to pursue the Screech Demons that were stumbling on their legs, trying to run away and perhaps gain some height while flapping their wings. "Come here! Let's RUMBLE! Hahaha!"
The thundering hooves of the Rhakaddons became a nightmare to the Screech Demons as they no longer have any sort of advantage against their supposedly preys. Them being on the ground put them at a very disadvantageous position against the enormous steeds of the Rumbling Clan. The whooshing sound of iron bolts sailing through the air added more danger for the Screech Demons as they get pierced through all over their body.
"Trample them! Oh, so perfect! A perfect victory for my perfect self!" Dug'mhar shouted as they trampled all over the Screech Demons again and again until the bodies of their foes have sunken to the ground like they were part of the ground originally.
"Chief, our foes are no more!" A member of the Rumbling Clan reported as the screeching of their foes died down. There were a few unlucky ones who got bitten and clawed by the Screech Demons in their last struggle. Their Rhakaddons stood still, unmoving, without their rider to lead them.
"I need ten volunteers to remain, to gather our fallen and also to ensure that none of these noisy bunch survives. The rest are with me. We are joining the real battle." Dug'mhar bellowed commands as he pulled on the reins of his Rhakaddons, turning it towards the direction of the real battlefield.
A few of them remained behind as their clan chief requested, dismounting from their enormous mounts with their lethal weapons at the ready to deliver swift blows to any of their foes that still move or make any sort of movement.

Dug'mhar signalled his clansmen to slow down the pace of their steeds as they they take some rest and also to let their steeds have some sort of relaxation after a tiring engagement. Far across the distance, sounds of battle could be heard.
*****
Xiao Chen was back in the frontline in the thick of battle. Beside him were his warriors who were giving their all to the fight. Pushing with their shields and thrusting with their spears. Others have let go of their spears and opted to use their stabbing swords, which was equally deadly.
They rammed against their foes with shields and repositioned themselves. Establishing the battle line before stabbing forward with their weapons, decimating the numbers of their foes.
Xiao Chen's arms became sore again after hours of fighting. He waited patiently for the battle horns to sound again to signal for the switching of the frontline. A few moments later, after stabbing his spear forward to pierce through a noisy goblin that was screaming at him, the battle horns sounded.
He rammed his shield forward with all his might, repelling back those who tried to get near him, sending them stumbling backwards. Standing sideways and his shield and weapon closed to his body, it made a gap between him and those beside him. From within those gaps came another wave of orc infantry that were fresh and itching to join in the fray.
With heavy steps, he made his way back to the rear of the formation to have some rest. He spread his gaze around and caught sight of his fallen warriors. Some orc infantry were among the fallen. The corpses of the brutal ogres were spread all over the place, their metal armors stripped away from their bodies as they were clawed upon and bitten by the corrupted creatures after being piled upon.

He felt bad for his fallen warriors, but the battle was still ongoing; he had no time to feel bad just yet. They must win first before attending to the fallen warriors.
In the distance, a hollowed tall cloud of dust was being kicked up. The vague silhouettes of the Rumbling Clan came within his sights. Xiao Chen called upon Xor'tharr, who was at the rear of the formation to relay his command.
The beat of the war drums thundered and the battle horns screamed. They relayed a new command. The frontline of the orc infantry slowly shifted their formation, forming a reverse 'C', enclosing the right flank of their enemies.
They pushed forward, dividing the battle line of their foes into two.
The orc infantry followed after the relayed command and the ogres somewhat followed after them as they slowly shifted their rampage towards the right flank of their enemies.
Xiao Chen gave another command to Xor'tharr to be relayed as they divided the enemy battle line into two. The right flank of their foes was slowly being encircled while the orc infantry poured in inside the gap to divide them more throughly as they established a solid wall of shields in between the two sides of their opponent's formation.
Dug'mhar perked up his ears, and eagerness was apparent on his face. He has been waiting for that signal; they have been idling at the rear of their enemy formation for some time now and only waiting for the command to be given for them to join in the fray.
He raised his weapon up in the air and kicked the sides of his Rhakaddon. The Rumbling Clan began to pick up speed as they charge forward. Their target was the right flank of their foes, that was slowly being encircled.
Dug'mhar kicked the sides of his steed stronger and his mount began to increase its speed more and more. The thundering hooves of the charging Rhakaddons and the trembling of the ground announced the presence of the Rumbling Clan. "It's time to RUMBLE!"
The corrupted creatures turned around and caught sight of the charging Rhakaddons that were coming their way. The three horns of the Rhakaddons gleamed with danger as they came closer and closer at a fast pace. Iron bolts came pouring in as the Rumbling Clan started shooting with their new weapons.
A loud crash followed as the Rumbling Clan clashed against the army of corrupted creatures. The Rhakaddons stampeded their way through with brute force, throwing away those that were foolish enough to stand their ground against their mighty charge. It was raining with corrupted creatures as the Rhakaddons tossed them away with their colossal head and mighty horns while their riders shoot iron bolts all over the place.

But for better or worse, his story still seems to have not ended. Elias gets reborn back when he was young, and the path he walked once, he will walk again, but this time the one who suffers will not be him. What to expect: This story is based on the concept of "What if a villain, gets a second chance?". Hence it contains a lot of torture, torment, and inhumanity. Revenge or such feelings do not drive Elias, so it's not a revenge story. There won't be any rape scenes or incest. It's also not a story like that. But expect some cruelty and torture along the way. Also, it's a slow-paced novel. In short: A lunatic who terrorized the world with devious power and cruel means gets reborn, this time becoming even more powerful and ruthless. Link for the Cover Art:

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.
