《Psycho X Psychic 》Chapter 74: The Class's Chance

"I'm sure you have done this before in your junior days. If you get your own paper, exchange it with the person beside you."
"Sir Hanon, what if I don't?"
Josh said with a big smile.
"Well, you get zero for the test."
"Ah??? I-I will not certainly exchange it, Sir!"
Josh's smiled just dropped while the entire class laughed at their exchange.
"Well, we don't have that much time, get one and pass it back. And here's your test paper, Josh. Since you're such a good student, I found it for you. Don't want to take it? Hm?"
"I must decline!" Josh replied which incited the class's laughter again.
While Sir Hanon was passing the test papers which they will check the answers, Teren have an entirely different thought. Instead of worrying about what test scores he will get, he was bothered by his only seatmate.
No, not just him, but almost everyone was bothered by it.
"What happened?"
Lina whispered as she passed the last test paper to Teren. Her voice was a bit apprehensive but Teren was too conscious of his seatmate that he failed to notice this.
Towards the class president's question, Teren just shrugged his shoulders as not only does he not want to answer, he also doesn't know what to answer.
Noticing the seemingly center of attention of the class today, Teacher Hanon looked at Iesa and commented.
"Looks like someone got a very good sleep last night."
"Eh?"
Iesa does not only have a bright smile but there was even a virtual rainbow sprouting on top of her.
The usual indifferent 'school idol' was in an extreme good mood. No one has any idea what caused this change. Normally, she was unapproachable but her classmates felt like they had a chance to talk to her today.

Not only are the boys interested to talk to her but even the girls.
Getting a friend like her, the girls felt like their 'social ranking' in the school hierarchy will shot up.
They were envying Teren who got special attention from the school idol. If he was popular then that should be fine, they thought. However, he was not! His face is not that bad but he was definitely not so handsome for the school idol to take notice of him.
Almost everyone knows who Teren Hark is. That is the power of being associated with the school idol. He was seen as dull, boring, lazy, and uncommunicative. There was not a good trait that was seen on him. As if he was left behind, he will become one with the background.
Although getting associated with Nick, a person known as a legitimate gangster was a bit unique about him, there was still no proper the students found that he deserves the school idol's attention!
It was unfair! Was the thought of everyone, especially from boys who seemed to take Iesa as being an idol very seriously. Therefore, malice was formed. But, that was old news. What changed today was the chance that the school idol might be in the mood to converse with others!
This is a chance not to be wasted!
"Umm, I-iesa, d-d-did you get your own p-paper? Hehe..."
Iesa's other seatmate whom she does not even know the name asked while scratching his own head. He thought the early bird gets the worm.
Normally, that kind of opening to strike a conversation was a big no-no, especially for the 'tyrannical queen'
"No, I haven't."
"...."
When Iesa replied, everyone was quiet. The seatmate who struck a conversation froze. There was a momentary pause before Iesa's head was bombarded with united thoughts.

'She answered with still a smile on her face!'
Although Iesa didn't continue the conversation with - how about you? - just the simple reply was enough to make the boy felt like he just won the lottery.
"I-iesa, do you have a red pen, if you don't, I can lend you some!"
"Iesa, do you want to eat together later!?'
"Iesa...!"
"Iesa...!"
Almost everyone near her began creating their own conversation.
Silently, Teren began counting the people whom he may try to 'strike a conversation' with too in a dark alley if he has a chance.
But soon, everyone realized their mistake.
"Could you all please shut up?"
Just one sentence from Iesa made everyone close their mouths as they see her smile disappeared.
'Wow, her popularity is on the next level...' even Teacher Hanon couldn't help but feel intimidated by Iesa's change of facial expression.
To reject the masses, just how tough her nerves are?
An ordinary person would be too scared to receive public backlash that they would try to do everything to conform but this woman is clearly not ordinary... Teacher Hanon continued to change his opinion of Iesa.
When everyone was shot down in just one reply, they all turned to Teacher Hanon as if asking for help to break the tense atmosphere.
"O-okay, is anyone holding their own paper? Raise your hand."
One hand was raised, at the very back.
What would say - what are the odds?
"Oh, it's only you, Teren? No one else? Okay, you can now change with your seatmate."
Teren silently nodded. He then looked at his seatmate, who in turn, looked at him with an embarrassed face. Her smile that disappeared earlier began returning bashfully.
'What's wrong with her?'
Although Teren found it adorable, it was still confusing.
"Here's my paper."
"O-okay..." Iesa meekly replied, worlds apart from her earlier demeanor.
While everyone was dumbfounded by this, Hanon was slightly trembling. When Teren raised his hand, he felt fear that he almost lost composure. However, he's a teacher and therefore, he's a professional. Steeling his nerves, he casually handled it but it was a lot of pressure.
This could all be blamed because of what happened yesterday.
It shouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he was now under Teren's mercy. His memories of it was as clear as day and the memories that returned could also be said the same.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

But parenting? There was none. Yet a struggle nearly every member of the Races is not foreign to. I...must have lived under a rock. Across aeons no less. What a humbling revelation.
