《Psycho X Psychic 》Chapter 54: Studying Together

"Anyway, let's continue watching." Iesa placed a pillow over Teren's side and leaned on it.
No matter how many times she does it, Teren would want to take the pillow off.
"So... you really are not going to study?"
"..." Iesa just opened a junk food and ignored his question.
Crunch*
Iesa's cheeks rounded as she gobbled on the junk food but a second later, it was taken by Teren.
"Hey!"
"You really are not going to study?"
"No..." Iesa rolled her eyes away.
Hearing this, Teren just shrugged his shoulders.
"Also, I'm always seeing you eat junk food. Are you not afraid that you'll gain weight?"
"Boo... how dare you remind that to a girl?"
Iesa tried to grab it but Teren pulled it away.
"I'll reduce it for you."
"Hm, how about you, I think you eat more than I do."
"I'm a guy, I don't need to worry about fat."
"Yes, you do."
The two continued to "fight" until they just shared it and opened the television to continue watching a show they've been watching for some time.
Since Iesa's apartment has a smart television, they can connect to the internet and watch whatever they want. That's what got them busy until night came and Teren would go home.
"I'm so proud of myself..." Teren victoriously clenched his fist after having self-control all this time.
Meanwhile, Iesa was pouting and her mood got soured.
"Nothing happened again..."
Only when he got home, Teren would study. It is true that he always slept but he didn't want to repeat a grade. Barely passing is passing and he had no problem with it.
However... Iesa would message him and he never touched his study materials until he slept.

This repeated over and over again until Teren realized that there are only three days left before the exam!
Other students wouldn't worry that much because they are normally participating in class. But for Teren? If he failed the exam, he would fail the first quarter! If he failed two or more quarters, he will have to take summer classes or worse, repeat a grade!
Therefore, when Teren walked Iesa home, he didn't come in.
"I'm going home now."
"Eh? Why?" Iesa looked at him, surprised.
"I have to study for the exam."
"You... you can study here."
Teren shook his head.
'I wouldn't be able to concentrate with you around. You're so cute that you occupy my mind alone!' he thought but didn't dare say it nor does he admit that it's mostly because he fantasizes about her most of the time.
"I have to focus." Teren only said.
"I will be quiet and you can focus!" Iesa then pulled his arm but Teren was unmoving.
"I will focus more on my house."
Iesa stopped pulling him and frowned. Admitting defeat, she crossed her arms and said.
"Fine..."
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
"No, I mean, fine, I will teach you."
Teren stopped in his tracks.
"You will?"
Since Iesa was the number one "genius" in their school, Teren wanted her to teach him. However, since Iesa was adamant about not wanting to study, he can't force her.
"Yeah, now come on." Iesa then pulled him in again.
...
After setting the small table in the living room, they both sat on the floor, adjacent to each other.
"Umm... so what subject are you worst at?" Iesa asked but internally-
'Please, be History. That's the only thing I'm confident to teach him since we both will look at the textbook!'

Iesa, the top genius, has no idea what they are going to study. She only listens to the smart students' thoughts on the exact day of the exam. She had done it all her life that she became dependent on it.
So if there are no smart or knowledgeable people around, how can she teach Teren. Moreover, she has to understand what she has to teach first, that's the basics!
"All subjects." Teren replied with a smile.
"What?"
"I don't know the lessons. I slept through them all."
"Then... how did you pass the exams?"
"I cram with the 'borrowed' notes I got."
"Ah..." Iesa then dropped her head in defeat. Her eyes became teary, "Sniff* sorry, Teren."
"W-wait, why?" Teren panicked when Iesa sobbed.
"I actually don't know the lessons too."
"Huh? Really?" Teren was dumbfounded.
'Then how did she got the first place on every exam before?'
"Yes, sniff* sorry."
"No, no, no, we can study together. Here, let's start here." Teren panicked and led their study session.
"Mm... okay..."
They started with the first lesson. Iesa then learned that Teren's "borrowed" notes were just stolen from other students. He would copy with a lot of shortcuts he understands then bring the notes back without the victim knowing.
Time passed and as they brainstormed, they finished five subjects, understanding it from the first lesson to the last!
"I can't believe we went through half of the entire month of school in one night." Teren laid on the couch, he was mentally exhausted.
Meanwhile, Iesa readied another set of snacks.
"I must say, you're pretty smart, Teren."
"Eating again?"
"I'm hungry. Haaa~~" Iesa yawned.
"Yeah, I guess I'm hungry too. Maybe it's almost time for dinner?" Teren then looked at the wall clock.
Iesa noticed his silence.
"What is i-?" following his line of sight she saw the time.
"It's already midnight." Teren muttered in a stupor, "I didn't realize how much I've stayed here, I should go now."
"Wait"
"Hm?" Teren, who was getting his bag, turned to see Iesa determinedly looking at him with a reddened face.
"It's already curfew."
"It's fine, they can't catch me. Also, it's not like I can stay here for the night." Teren laughed but soon that laughter stopped when Iesa replied.
"I'm fine with it."
"Huh...?"
Iesa came to him and took his bag from him, putting it on the couch.
"I'm going to cook dinner then we can go to sleep."
"W-wait, I haven't said yes yet."
"Too late, it's already curfew. I have extra pajamas here." Iesa ignored him.
Defeatedly, Teren sat on the couch.
"You only have one room you know."
"... you can sleep on the couch."
'She's serious...' Teren was speechless. Furthermore, it's not like he hates the idea either. He glanced at her and saw that from neck to ears, she was red.

Contact Through Voided Lenses
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Edit: Fixed some inaccuracies in the synopsis. The void is a vast unexplored ocean filled with various wonders and dangers all waiting to be explored by those brave enough to travel and record. Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. The various trips got faster, communications became faster than light and you can be home to see your loved ones after only months now. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
