Joan and Alexandro were amidst a battle with each other, one to their deaths. Joan was infuriated upon seeing what Alexandro had done to Wyatt.
Joan's face was swollen, and various parts of her body were broken. She had been holding her ground against Alexandro for quite some time now. She panted; holding her sword in a hanging right. "This battle ends here, Alexandro!"
Alexandro, a few meters away from her, smirked. "Precisely. Thanks for reminding me!" Alexandro's ability gave him the upper hand over most of his opponents and this did, unfortunately, include Joan. He dashed toward her. She quickly raised her offhand. Alexandro teleported. Joan shot iceshards at nothing. Alexandro kicked her to the back.
She stumbled forward. Alexandro teleported in front of her. He jabbed her to the face. She staggered backward. Alexandro teleported, whacking her behind her head. She staggered forward again. He repeated the same thing over and over again. He flurry of attacks was performed.
Joan could not get ample time to retaliate. Blood gushed from her mouth. She received constant blows but had never ceased to stay standing. Alexandro had sped up. He teleported hundreds of times in a single minute. He delivered a powerful blow every time he had relocated. Joan was beginning to succumb.
Her eyes bulged. She held her breath, feeling the throbbing of her heart while receiving a plethora of blows to her body. Her eyes then rolled up in her head, leaving nothing but white. She parted her lips and screamed as best she could.
Thousands of ice specks and shards and boulders and walls were expanding around her, emerging from nothingness, as she screamed. "ICEEEEEEEEEEE AGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" her voice was at its maximum. Veins popped up on her skin. Her hair was hovering. The area wavered.

Alexandro did not expect such an exhibition of power. He had fumbled. Ice specks had penetrated his left arm. Then his right leg. And finally, one had burst through his chest. He quickly teleported away from her. Endless agony usually hindered his ability to teleport. To others, he simply wasn't seen in the alley anymore. He had chosen to flee. And this was rather an act of rationality than cowardice, certainly. It was the smartest thing to do, considering the entire alley, and several areas of the street were soon to be frozen.
Joan hadn't relented. She had to be stopped. Blood came trickling down her nostrils as she screamed like never before. Pushing beyond the boundaries of her power did have a significant toll on her body. Her face went cold, her body failing to heat itself. Her heart was beginning to freeze. Tears ran down her cheeks and froze before even reaching her draw.
The remaining officers who Jin and Benji were fighting had been frozen by Joan's explosion of rapidly expanding ice. Jin was shocked. His mask had appeared on his face. He had started constantly dashing and teleporting in efforts of evading the expanding and thrusting ice.
Sharp protrusions of ice had seamlessly burst through the walls of the alley and had continued to expand with a widespread radius. People near this alley—though not many, given that gunshots were heard from this area earlier—had either been frozen or impaled several times by the expanding ice.
Jin continued evading, but it kept getting harder. He wanted to leave by teleporting away, however, he wanted to finish off the remaining foes, especially the cops who had seen his face. They all looked like they were in horrible conditions. But he had to make sure they were dead.

He sprinted toward Joan, tiny iceshards penetrating his body. He kept dodging while approaching her. She was still screaming atop her lungs and hadn't lost breath. Jin leaped into the air. He quickly teleported further into the air, then teleported again, appearing even higher. He was far above the ground, nearly over Joan's head.
He then began to fall. His hood rippled in the wind just like the rest of his clothes. His hair blew vigorously. The powerful winds brushed against his skin as he neared the surface where Joan loitered. Joan had realized the shadow overhead. Ice expanded from the clusters and bolted into the air at Jin. Jin spun in the air, dodging a thrusting protrusion of ice. Then spun again, dodging another. Then, he spun left like a plane in air combat and dashed, dodging yet another. Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he felt the thrill of the battle. His dagger slowly manifested in his hand. He soared through the air, raising his green, radiating dagger.

Wyatt had gotten up while Alexandro and Joan fought. They had not even recognized him. At the end of the alley behind him, there was a dumpster. And behind this dumper, cowered an officer, who was, none other than, Jasper.
He cried sorrowful tears as he remained hidden behind the dumpster. He had failed to join the fight again, he had failed despite perking himself up and putting his badge back on. In truth, he knew he did not deserve his badge at all. He quailed. "I'm gonna die ... I'm not supposed to be here. I wanna go home."
He had been fighting an internal battle with himself. He tried to rejoin the battle many times. His first attempt was a failure, for he had landed eyes on Wyatt's body on the floor. This broke him. He clenched his teeth. He hadn't arrived in time to fight off Joan. The closest he had gotten to rejoining the battle was barely twenty steps toward it. But from the time he had seen a masked figure in a hoodie seamlessly slaughtering his comrades alongside a feral, beastly, four-legged creature; he had immediately retreated.
He felt pathetic. Enraged by himself, he crashed his knuckles into the dumpster and had quickly regretted it. He shook the hand, feeling a throbbing pain in it. "I'm fucking garbage, I don't belong here .... as a matter of fact, I think I do belong here," he sniffled, "here living behind a filthy dumpster.
Suddenly, Jasper had started to feel ... cold. Why had the temperature suddenly changed? He shivered. Then, he jolted as a loud, deafening scream sounded. He had decided to peek. His eyes widened as soon as he had done. Huge clusters of ice were spreading violently and coming his way!
He froze. Why could he not move? If he feared for his life so much so that he had hidden while a battle of death occurred, then why was he now so reluctant to run away again? A huge protrusion of a pointy ice speck shot through the metal dumpster. The ice went straight for Jasper's face.
Merely inches away from lethality, Jasper was suddenly pulled out of the way. His head traced his savior's feet up until his head. He gasped. It was Wyatt! Jasper widened his eyes. "W-Wyatt?" he stuttered.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
