《Loki’s Successor System 》Chapter 92: Three Days of Happiness (3)

The bikers all bolted toward Jin, Ashton, and Benji—who all stood there, unmoving. Suddenly, Benji rushed toward the lunging bikers, and pounced into the air. It gaped its mouth, and slammed its draw shut, shredding a rider's body asunder. The bike had then zoomed off course.
Benji was not done there. He landed on his four legs, subtly skating in the wet road. Another bike was coming straight for it. However, it quickly disappeared, leaving the biker confused. The biker looked back, given that he had just drove past the very spot the creature stood. Then, he looked forward again, focusing his attention on Jin and Ashton instead, since, they were now the easiest to hit. "I've got you now!"
Jin dashed forward. The bike missed his body—off by a few inches. He simply raised his hand over the bike, and his arm wrapped around the rider's neck. Out of control, the bike pitched toward Ashton. Jin looked back in shock. He had forgotten about Ashton.
Jin was about to go save Ashton, when suddenly Benji appeared in front of him. Benji knocked Ashton out of the way, with a tad too much power. The bike then came crashing into it. It whined. Ashton was going to be knocked into a wall. When out of nowhere, Jin appeared, grabbing him by the back of his shirt, holding his body up with a single hand.
Ashton was back on his feet again. He looked at Jin. Jin was swathed in blood. Strangely, he also held a bat to his side. "Thanks," Ashton said, panting. "I thought I was a goner there."
Jin smiled, putting out the bat for Ashton to take. "Here, use this. Let's have a little bit of fun, shall we?"
Nervous, Ashton took the bat. "O-okay I guess … but," his eyes widened, "behind you!"

Without turning around, Jin sidestepped, and the bike went speeding past him. He then closed his right fist, and a glowing, green dagger manifested.
Alas, he hurled the dagger at the biker; who had only just passed them.
The dagger had penetrated the man's head, throwing the entire bike off the road.
Ashton held the metal bat in his hand, shaking.
Jin peered at him. He placed a hand upon his shoulder. "Hey, Ashton … there is nothing to be scared of. We," Benji appeared next to him, "won't let you get a scratch," Jin's voice trailed off as his smile took its place.
Ashton still looked scared out of his mind. Having seen this, Jin suddenly grabbed Ashton. Ashton panicked. "Jin? What are you doing!?"
Jin suddenly began to run, Benji pursuing his path. Ashton's feet started to move on their own; given that Jin was running while holding him.
"Ash, when we relocate, I want to swing that bat with all the might you have in those arms. I won't let you get hit—we … won't let you get hit," said Jin, focused.
Ashton managed to relax. He sighed. He was paranoid. But then he had somehow pulled off consoling himself. He nodded at Jin's words, furrowing his brows. "I'm ready!"
Jin teleported. Concurrently, Ashton raised the bat, and quickly swung, knocking a rider to his helmet. The impact from the speed at which the bike moved, in conjunction with the force Ashton had exerted onto the bat, knocked the biker off the bike.
Jin teleported to safety again. "That it's! Just like that, Ash. That's how you do it!"
Ashton perked up. "I did that? Did I just take down a bad guy?"
Jin smiled. "Yeah, you just took down a bad guy."

Ashton smiled. "Oh, yeah!" he thrust a hand in the air. Euphoric. As he lowered his arm again, he said, "C'mon, Jin. There are two of them coming our way. Let's take them down. All of 'em."
Jin looked at him for a while. It took a few seconds for his smile to reappear. "Alright," he grabbed Ashton's shirt, and started running. "we're at it again."
Running with profound speed; Jin had noticed just how fast he's become. He smiled; and shifted his attention to the battle again. "Ashton, there's something you need to know about my teleportation."
"Yeah? What's that?" Ashton asked, quizzically. He retained his focused look. Faintly furrowed brows. Unblinkingly eyes. Determination.
"The teleportation skill allows me to remove myself from space and then finally relocate," said Jin, "to teleport more than myself; I am required to touch an object of choice.
"Should something stop us from being in physical contact; try your best to touch any part of my body again or you risk being hit."
"Got it," blurted Ashton immediately.
Jin glimpsed back at him; smiling. "Here goes …"
A biker was coming straight for them. Jin teleported. Ashton swung. However, the blow didn't suffice to knock the rider off his seat. And so, Jin had teleported again; targeting the very same rider as before. Ashton swung again; with all his might.
The biker was thrown in the opposite direction of his bike. Jin targeted another biker; disappearing and reappearing right in front of him. The warping, sonorous sound exploded in Ashton's ears like the exhaust of a rocket engine. While at the same time, the noise sounded as if the entire universe was being sucked into a capsule. Ashton clenched his teeth. From the time he heard this ineffable sound; he swung, knocking the rider to his head.
Jin perked up. "Perfect! You're nailing this, Ash. When's you learn to swing like that?"
Ashton's face flushed, but just mildly. "When did I learn? I'd say about a few focused seconds ago, which I most definitely would never forget. Something to forget is this conversation, 'cause I wanna go back to smashing some clone heads. Look, at our twelve—another biker."
Jin smiled. He was also having a great time. "The bikers won't stop coming unless we take out the redhead. Wanna keep going endlessly; or do you prefer to end it now?"
"Sucker," Ash blurted again, excited, "I'm gonna be at this all night!"
Jin smiled; shaking his head.
Ashton was filled with joy. Filled with euphoria. Having his happiest days of his life. The cops were on their way to his location; and he did know that. But this much fun? To put things simply, this happiness made the careful guy not care at all.
Who'd ever thought smashing head with a stolen metal bat would be so much fun?

Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

As Dolores tries only to survive and hide between 'normal' people, she encounters stranger and stranger things that force her hand and, in the end, she has the answers to a lot of questions. It is a slow-developing story. I had a lot of fun writing it and hope to share it with you, dear reader if you also enjoy it. On the other hand, putting it in an acceptable form requires much work and energy. I intend to bring it to its end and not let it unfinished. I hate it when I encounter unfinished stories, so I understand the feeling. This is not a classical isekai story. There is travel between the two worlds, and the game world seems to be so very real... well, this is one plot of the story. This is not an MMORP game story. Part of the action happens inside a game world, but it is treated as a real world. Updates on a weekly basis, at least Monday and Friday, with additional bonus chapters as time and energy allow. Unfortunately, this is not enough for people with a low tolerance for warped sentences and... they may want to skip the story :( Well, you have been warned :) I appreciate it when a reader points out a sentence that needs rework. That may spare a follow-up reader some pain and helps me understand where my English grammar problems are. * We thought we made the best game in Earth's history We thought we made the best interfaces ever seen We thought we made it - lifelike But it far exceeded our expectations.
