《Loki’s Successor System 》Chapter 66: Lash out

The knife stopped midway through puncturing Dobby's topmost skull. Dobby winced as if he had actually been stabbed, his chest rose and fell constantly.
Ashton cried, "Come on, Jin. This isn't like you!"
It grew awfully silent for a while. Jin hadn't said anything yet; he froze like a statue, towering over the petrified Dobby in his presence.
Jin was seething in rage. He stormed off, he opened his hands and his dagger disappeared. He walked down the flight of stairs, and started walking through the living room.
Cliff's head followed him like a camera. "Hey, Pin. You have my utmost condolences …" mischievousness to his tone. "I can't believe you killed your own—"
A dagger—with a luminously green contrail—went spinning and flipping toward Cliff's body. The dagger missed his head, and penetrated the soft material of the couch he had been sitting on.
Cliff looked at the dagger, and then looked at Jin again. "Your aim is horrible …" he knew Jin wasn't trying to actually hit him.
Jin strode outside of the house. He lingered on the front porch; looking up at the grim sky, and then he pulled his hood over his head. He started walking again, leaving his yard.
As he walked he uttered, "Benjamin, Grandma. It's my fault they died—I was too weak." His mask appeared on his face as his steps quickened.
***
Jin had found the same boys who were chasing him again. They were in a dark alley, looming in the shadows of the gloomy dawn. There were two bloody, battered vessels on the floor who Jin assumed were killed or knocked out by the gang of boys.
Jin walked right up that alley; his hands were in his kangaroo pockets, and his mask was on his face.
He stopped; his shoe-steps resounded, grabbing their teenage, short attention spans. They glared at him. Then, recognition began to dawn on them. They quickly flew up on their feet, flipping out their knives.

The one who Jin had hit behind his head, then shouted, "That's that guy from last time! He killed my gang!!!" he yelled.
"Did you boys bring the gun!?"
"Who had the gun?!"
"I don't know …"
"I don't know either."
The tallest one facepalmed. "You damn arseholes! How could you lose the gun? I wanted to shoot this mother fucker."
One with curly hair then uttered. "Why would we need to shoot him. We don't have a silencer on the thing, and besides," he smirked, "that masked kid is a coward!"
"True," another agreed, "he kept running from us that night. Never thought he'd come back for death so soon …"
"Yeah, and if things go bad; we're still loaded with red magic!"
"Trust me," uttered the tallest one, "things aren't gonna go bad … at least not for us." He smirked.
Jin stood callously. Looking at the figures with scorn over his concealed face. He already knew how this battle was going to go down. He just needed … he needed something to take his anger out. This seemed the perfect choice on his part.
The figure's rushed in after him. He remained standing until one of them attacked. When the curly-haired elf attacked, he dashed left; closing a hand.
When his hand was closed; his dagger appeared in his tight palm. Jin dashed right again—darting toward the elf. He quickly thrust the dagger into the elf's cheek.
The elf groaned, and pulled away; freeing itself from the knife's penetration. He quickly collapsed, screaming as loud as he could.
Another attack before Jin could stomp on the elf. It was the buffed one who looked much like he was on not only red magic drugs but steroids as well. The buffed one scored a jab to Jin's back.
Jin quickly steadied. He dashed away from the buffed one so that he could get time to turn around. He quickly turned around. The curly-haired man was near Jin. Jin kicked him to him abdomen, dashed toward him, and stabbed him in the head.

There were four more boys remaining. As another one lunged toward him, slashing a knife relentlessly and screaming—loudly as if he knew he was committing suicide by attacking.
Jin sidestepped, and thrust his blade toward the assailant to his left. The assailant raised an opened hand on impulse and the dagger impaled his hand.
[HP: 10/12]
[Weapon special attack upon next blow]
He clenched his teeth in pain, and slashed at Jin, only scraping his mask. He slashed the mask again. His efforts were in vain. Jin pulled his blade from the figure's hand. And then he raised the dagger to attack.
His attack was cut when the buffed figure knocked him behind his head with one of the plastic chairs they were sitting on. Jin was sent stumbling on his feet. But he quickly steadied.
Only for another chair to crash into him again. He was knocked to the floor.
[HP: 27/30]
The one who had received the penetration through his hand pounced toward the fallen Jin. He leaped into the air and was about to stomp upon Jin.
Jin was going to dodge but he relented. His enemy's boots collided with his back. He gasped loudly. Jin quickly grabbed his enemy's leg, and pulled with all his might.
The enemy tumbled over, crashing to his face. Jin quickly leaped to his feet. The fallen enemy was getting up again. Jin clenched his teeth and thrust his dagger into the enemy's head.
Then he turned to the next target. A goblin was rushing in. Jin hadn't even remembered seeing a goblin. "Crawford!!!!" wailed the goblin loudly, darting toward Jin.
Jin quickly dashed as the goblin slashed. Then he dashed toward it again. He quickly stabbed it to its chest, missing its heart by a few mild inches.
The goblin's eyes bulged as the blade entered its flesh. It's skin began to tinge, veins started to appear all over its body. It couldn't move any muscles.
[Effect: Paralysis]
Jin quickly dashed a meter back, leaving the dagger in the creature's head by letting go of it. Then he closed his hand again; and the dagger teleported into his palm.
He dashed forward again, and slashed with power. A green contrail trailed after the slash, and blood followed. The goblin's head dropped to the ground.
[2 / 3 kills]
Another enemy leaped forward, holding a piece of strap iron. It was John "You killed my last gang, I'm not letting you kill this one!"
John had slashed far too early, Jin needn't even move. Then, somehow Jin caught him in a neck lock. He released him from the neck lock, and placed both his hands on his head. One at his chin, the other at his upper head.
Then Jin pivoted the neck, pushing the opposite hands in opposite directions. Thanks to all the points he'd recently spent on strength, the figure's neck was broken, a snapping sound trailed.
[3/3 kills]
Jin released the vessel, and it quickly leaned forward such that it collapsed within seconds, a loud thud sounded.
Jin's eyes began to glow green.
[3/3 kills]
He started to feel something inside of him fade away—like it was never there before. He couldn't put his finger on it, but somehow his seething rage withered a trifle.

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
