《My Magical System 》Chapter 8: Green bar

Glistening beads of sweat was trailing on his forehead. He closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and hardened his muscle to endure the pain that was coming.
Zing zing zing!
Uuuughh!
Three consecutive stabs that almost arrived at the same time had made him cried out in pain.
He knew their stabs hit him. Yeman believed he would die at any moment. He could feel the pain from his stomach, left waist, and on his back.
He furrowed his brows, and waited for his end. But seconds later, he wasn't dead. He didn't have heavy a breathing as well. Everything was normal, except for the pain he felt.
He slowly opened his left eye, and saw the skeptical faces of the monsters while staring at their blades with doubts.
"!!"
"!!"
"!!"
Their daggers were not able to penetrate deeply on his skin.
'I-I'm alive?' he exclaimed.
He noticed something in his vision, a blinking green bar.
In the green bar could be seen numbers, it shows 170/200.
'Is this my health bar?' He unconsciously asked himself.
But he didn't have time to be in a daze.
Yeman didn't know what was happening or how it happened. But, he was alive! Without a second thought, he hastily leaped to his right to avoid the next pincer attack.
After he successfully leaped, he pointed the tip of his spear at the [Ratman] with the lowest HP.
The exclamation points appeared over their heads when they noticed the human enemy leaped.
Before they could chase him, Yeman hurriedly stabbed the [Ratman] with lowest HP. Out of reflex, the [Ratman] jolted to its right to avoid the incoming spear.
However, Thump!
Keek!!
Eek!!
It collided to the other [Ratman] on its right and nowhere to go.
Zing!

A red text followed after the spear-tip hit the [Ratman's] stomach.

<Level1 Ratmen killed>
After the notification that he killed the monster, a bright green object like energy goes towards him and was absorbs by his body.
+50% Exp
Just like before, he received notification of receiving experience points.
<Level Up>
And again, he felt stronger after leveled up. Yeman knew his stats went up. Not only that, his HP became full again and raised its value. Now on the green bar displayed the number 300/300.
After killing the [Ratman], Yeman pulled the spear and prompted a step back.
The two left [Ratmen] came chasing after him. The one on the left leaped in the air to shorten their distance. And the one at his right dashed forward while pointing the tip of a dagger to him.
But, Yeman with his new speed was much faster than the level 1 [Ratman].
He kicked the ground to accumulate force and skid to his left.
The two [Ratmen] arrived at Yeman's suppose position in the past second. But, they're too late, their target already at their right side.
With a smirk on his face, he swung his spear horizontally to the [Ratman] who recently leaped. But, before the spear hit the [Ratman's] jaw, Yeman suddenly felt a chill and stopped his attack.
Shing!
Shing!
A shadow with 2 gleaming daggers rapidly passed through and severed the monster's heads.

Maitbudi
Fermboi was a man of one ideal: make the weak strong. When his rebellion against the king proved futile, he was given another chance at life. This time, he sought to do nothing after realizing the hopelessness of it all. Aventina wanted to do nothing more than to follow her father’s footsteps. On a retaliation raid against her tribe’s enemies, her brothers perished. Spared by a leader of her enemies, she returned home to find herself the chief of her tribe. Bolahulag, half-civilized and half-barbarian, half-lowborn and half-royal. Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.

Conquest of Avalon
Revenge. The Kingdom of Avalon swept across the Empire of the Fox a generation past, conquering the heartlands and leaving the broken remnants to stew in the island duchy of Guerron. This isn't a story of Good versus Evil, of kindly kings doing their best to lift all subjects, or of unvarnished heroes doing battle against evil. Instead, this story is about power: who has it, who wants it, and what people will do to obtain it. It is about the violence inherent in the imperial project and how even the most well-intentioned rulers and conquerors are, still, engaging in systemic violence against those conquered and defeated. Our three point-of-view characters are a peasant turned fire wizard, an excitable duelist with more enthusiasm than sense, and a scheming mage-priestess bent on reclaiming her family's birthright and waging war on the foreign oppressors who rule her home... no matter the cost in blood or treasure.

Delicate as Glass
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!

Dragged into a dying world of cultivation, Laude’s journey to expunge his cultivation base and return to mortalhood will take him across Oseo and into the shadow of a heavenly conspiracy so monumental that it could endanger all of Oseo and beyond…
