《The Rise Of A Porter 》Chapter 41: Rank Advancement Quest (3): Bloodmage

"It will take two hours for the Assembly kit to get forged, it'll be better if I buy another knowledge from the shop and gain a third subclass for the advancement quest."
Still lost in his thoughts, Arnold opened the [shop] and started going through the knowledges once again. He was looking for a class that would help to upgrade his creationist abilities. But sadly the [shop] didn't had any knowledge that would help him accomplish this task.
"Tsk. Looks like creationist would be a money consuming class for now." Arnold shook his head, "If I can't find another subclass to help my creationist abilities, I think I should get a subclass that would enhance my combat capabilities. Having couple of more skills and abilities wouldn't be a bad idea. Let's see... how about the [BLOODMAGE]?"
_________________
[BLOODMAGE] : The basic knowledge required by [Mages] who wish to enhance their combat capabilities which can be upgraded over time. This subclass of [Mages] is known for its destructive and bloody nature. The power of this subclass increases by spilling more and more blood of your enemies. Buying this knowledge also unlocks the abilities [BLOOD NECROMANCY] using this skill would also take a bit of your HP so use it in moderation.
[BLOOD NECROMANCY] : (Active ability) Basic ability for [Bloodmage] subclass. This ability allows the user to capture a target's abilities by using the it's blood. You'll require a [Blood rune] to extract an ability from the target's blood. One [Blood rune] can only be used once. The number of skills and abilities that would get extracted depends on the level of ability and the amount of target's blood used. If you use this skill, You won't be able to use any type of HP potion for the next 3 hours to recover your lost HP.

REMARK : Only your summons and automatons can use the blood runes to permanently gain these abilities. Using the [Blood rune] on yourself would not have any effect and the [Blood rune] would get destroyed.
[ Rank : S ]
[HP cost : 300/Usage]
Price : 10 [basic beast] crystals.
[The amount would be automatically deducted from your inventory after purchase]

The subclass was very useful indeed but then it was shrouded in mystery as well. Arnold really liked the [BLOOD NECROMANCY] skill, it essentially meant that if he had sufficient amount of blood, he could technically transform his summons and automatons into one of his enemies or allies but he'd have to do it secretly as he doubted anyone would be pleased know that he was going around copying their abilities, not to mention he would have to obtain their blood first. The other drawback was that it would cost him his own HP to use this ability but the cost wasn't much. It should be alright if he used it in moderation as the system had told him to.
"Would this work with a monsters and dungeon bosses though? It should, after all they have abilities as well as blood."
Arnold thought about this for a little while longer and then decided to buy the knowledge.

"Since there's still time for the Assembly kit to be forged, let's see what a [Blood rune] looks like, but can I simultaneously Forge two things?"

"If you really want to help me system-sama, then could you get rid of the advancement quests for me?" Arnold laughed.
There was no response from the system, but Arnold pretty much expected this. The system never responded to any of his weird requests because if it did, then Arnold would already be the world's strongest warrior.
Arnold opened the [Forge] tab and selected the [Blood Rune] blueprint.

"That's pretty fast..." Arnold smiled.
Twenty seconds passed in a flash and soon Arnold had a grey stone in his hands. The stone had blood red engravings on it that were written in a weird language which Arnold didn't knew. He used his [PROBE] skill on it.

8 88Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have.
