“What?”
Skeleton King was stunned when he heard the system notification.
How is this possible? Devil King Stan was actually killed?
That dark crevice was a unique scene in Forgotten City. Ever since the opening of the server, countless people had been in there to explore.
However, all of them, without an exception, died in the hands of Devil King Stan.
Previously, Glorious Sword also brought a few hundred disciples from the sect into the dark crevice to challenge the legendary and most frightening BOSS in Forgotten City. Eventually, all of them were exterminated and sent back in humiliating fashion.
Just how impressive were the Chinese players? To be able to kill Devil King Stan during his first trip into the dark crevice? One must know that this fella was merely in there for slightly over ten minutes.
This was way too eerie.
Skeleton King was not the only one because the other sect heads of Forgotten City were equally as shocked when they saw the notification. All of them had been defeated by Devil King Stan himself so they naturally knew just how frightening that b*stard was. It was inevitable that they felt odd when they suddenly saw that Devil King Stan was killed.
“Skeleton, what happened? Were you the one who killed Devil King Stan?”
Not long after, Skeleton King received over ten messages asking him about the same thing.
After all, Glorious Sword Sect was the biggest sect in Forgotten City which was why they were the most likely to be able to kill Devil King Stan.
“None of your business!”
Skeleton King was also a pretentious fella. Even though he knew that Devil King Stan was not killed by his sect, he took this opportunity since people started asking him. By answering in this manner, he was clearly implying to everyone that the Glorious Sword did this.

“Wow! Impressive!”
The other sect heads exclaimed as they were inevitably impressed. It was no wonder they were the biggest sect in Forgotten City.
In the face of such compliments, the shameless Skeleton King really accepted them all… his level of shamelessness truly surpassed the ancients and dazzled the contemporaries.
At the same time, Wang Yu and Meng Xi were at a loss within the dark crevice.
“What just happened? The BOSS died just like that? Or was it hiding somewhere?” Meng Xi looked around frantically.
Wang Yu was also slightly confused, “I have no idea… I have yet to use my strength so how did he die? He is even weaker than those small monsters.”
“Is there a trick…” Meng Xi questioned.
Earlier when she got lost, Meng Xi already experienced just how crafty the game designers could be.
“I doubt so… he even dropped some items.” Wang Yu pointed at where Devil King Stan died.
Meng Xi followed Wang Yu’s finger as she looked over. Indeed, a book was lying quietly on the ground together with a pile of gold and a few pieces of equipment.
Of course, it wasn’t impossible for the game designers to have a BOSS drop items and still come back to life after that. Wang Yu walked over cautiously to pick up the items.
The equipment were a leather armour and a dagger. The main attributes were average but they were both upgraded like the items dropped by the small monsters earlier with both the darkness and fire attributes.
However, that skill book was extremely odd.
>: Unique skill used to devour others’ fear to increase one’s strength and conversely, reduce the opponent’s strength.
“This skill is pretty interesting.”
After looking at this skill book, Wang Yu finally came to a realisation. He finally understood why this BOSS was this useless.

This Devil King Stan was originally useless but he grew stronger the more people feared him. Once someone stopped fearing him, this fella would return back to its original form.
As a grandmaster of his generation, Wang Yu had no fear in his heart. Additionally, this BOSS’s peculiar appearance and funny name even caused Wang Yu to mock him instead of fear.
Just like that, Devil King Stan instantly became an out and out rubbish killed easily by a fist from Wang Yu… Oh, he could be considered to have been mocked to death…
“Haha!” After realising the truth, Wang Yu couldn’t help but roast the system, “The game designers are truly eccentric people. Isn’t a BOSS like that basically giving free equipment to the players?”
“F*ck…”
Meng Xi replied, “No other player will actually start laughing at and mocking such a terrifying BOSS in the way you did.”
The reason why players from Forgotten City weren’t able to kill Devil King Stan for such a long time was mainly because of their fear for this BOSS.
Originally, Devil King Stan was merely an ordinary BOSS but the ugly appearance gave everyone a sense of fear. Therefore, the Forgotten City’s players were fearful of him when they saw him.
The more terrified they were, the stronger Devil King Stan became and the faster the players died.
Over time as rumours spread, the Forgotten City’s players’ fear for the BOSS continued increasing exponentially. The more people died, the more people feared and the harder the BOSS became.
Only this oddball Wang Yu was able to kill Devil King Stan so easily.
“Aiya…” Wang Yu scratched his chin, “It seems like this skill book is of little value to players. Unless I am ugly, I might not be able to utilise this skill effectively so it seems like I have no use for this. Do you want it?”
“F*ck!”
Meng Xi raged, “Are you implying that I am ugly?”
“F*ck… forget it! Let’s leave it for Ming Du.” Wang Yu shook his head helplessly.
“Atchoo!!”
Thousands of miles away back at Twilight City, Ming Du suddenly sneezed as he rubbed his nose, “What?! How can I catch the flu even in the game?”
“Bang!”
Just when Wang Yu wanted to keep this skill book in his bag, A Thousand Old Blossoms fell in desperately.
“???”
Wang Yu and Meng Xi were slightly taken aback, “Why are you still here?”
“F*ck! Don’t mention it anymore!” A Thousand Old Blossoms got up, “I was keeping watch outside for you and I ended up meeting players from Forgotten City… Eh? What is that in your hand?”
A Thousand Old Blossoms was indeed a true thief. One glance was all it took to spot the skill book in Wang Yu’s hand.
“Skill book ah…” Wang Yu replied.
“Dropped by Devil King Stan?” A Thousand Old Blossoms inquired.
“En!” Wang Yu nodded, “I have no use for it anyway so I’m planning to give it away.”
“Grandfather Bull!”
Before Wang Yu could complete his sentence, A Thousand Old Blossoms pounced onto Wang Yu’s feet which gave him a huge scare.
“What are you doing?” Wang Yu asked.
A Thousand Old Blossoms cried out, “On the account that I’ve slogged my life out to help you keep watch, please give the book to me.”
“This…” Wang Yu sized A Thousand Old Blossoms up as he saw a remarkable resemblance to himself and he said, “No, you don’t fulfil the conditions!”
“Big brother, don’t be so heartless!” A Thousand Old Blossoms continued crying out, “Or at least let me have a look at it!”
“This is possible!” Wang Yu handed A Thousand Old Blossoms the book without hesitation.

His old life aboard the Valkyrie, an interstellar destroyer has also been replaced as he finds his new body in an unknown world. Where he learns of magic, skills, the system, helhorses, and slinging lead with ancient revolvers. Initially, he is skeptical of his new norm but the desire to survive leads him to try to earn a living while he figures out what just happened to his life. He's a fighter but far from the elite, a grunt with some experience. But what better way than to fall back to what he's familiar with, weapons and going after criminals and rebels. With the added challenges of monsters. This is my first Litrpg writing. It's a wild west fantasy setting with the MC taking a role as a gun-slinging bounty hunter in a world of magic and monsters. Hope you enjoy it. UPDATES AT 3PM EST ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS! Warning. The story has a slow start because I'm trying to keep my MC realistic. It takes him some time to adjust to his new surroundings, start to make some friends, and really get into the swing of it. I kind of think it's dumb when an isekai's MC manages to blink twice and suddenly adapts to their new world without any sort of struggle or learning period. So not doing that but don't worry Will may be confused and a bit unfocused at first but he'll grow into his own. Also using it to practice my digital artwork... which is far from par but improving. Keep an eye on author notes for maps and depictions of monsters and characters.
