“?”
Meng Xi was a little perplexed at Wang Yu’s suggestion. She had lived her life in a westernised society and it was difficult for her to empathise with Wang Yu. However, Meng Xi still patiently explained, “Only two people can undertake this quest.”
“This… Alright then.”
Wang Yu was also helpless under the circumstances. It was not easy for him to be assigned such a quest in the first place so he could not possibly give up so quickly.
He had to give up his identity as the gentleman.
…
The west side of Ethel Mountain already crossed over to the European server. To cross the mountain range, they had to first take an airship to reach Wild City.
Wild City was the furthest city away from the mainland and it was close to a two-hour journey from Twilight City.
As the city was famed for its desolateness, it could not compare to the size and grandeur of Vatican City. However, it was highly ranked in the list of cities in >.
The top-ranked guild nationwide Ancient Empire was headquartered here.
Only heaven knew why such a large guild like the Ancient Empire chose to settle in such a city instead of a more prosperous one. Is it because they could be more discrete in their dealings this way?
No one knew the specific reason behind their actions.
Of course, there may have been no specific reasoning behind what they had decided on and it could be a decision made purely out of their self-confidence. It was similar to when Wang Yu never paid attention to the weapon that his opponent was equipped with.
It was a wonderful thing to travel with a beautiful woman.
Wang Yu himself was already an introverted person, but Meng Xi was even more so.
The two of them barely spoke throughout the two-hour journey seemingly engaged in a competition of “see who speaks first”.
These two were indeed masters at staying silent. From entering the airship to landing in Wild city, there was no clear winner.

…
Compared to Twilight City, the general vibe that Wild City exuded was very ancient and there were not many players in the streets.
It looked like the Ancient Empire was really powerful. A singular guild was sufficient to drive a whole city’s economy. Their reputation was quite effective.
The two did not specially travel all the way here to experience ordinary folklife. The moment the airship landed, they headed straight for the city gates.
However, as they approached the gates, they were stopped by a bunch of players.
One of them was a tall and burly Warrior. He drew his long sword to restrict the movement of Wang Yu and Meng Xi. He asked in an arrogant tone, “Where are you guys going?”
“What does that have to do with you?” Wang Yu positioned Meng Xi behind him and replied coldly.
“Take a look at what this is!” The Warrior pointed at the emblem on his chest and declared, “This road is the only way to leave this territory. All those who pass through here have to pay a toll fee. This is the rule; do you understand?”
The emblem on his chest was a very simple-looking cauldron. Wang Yu did not know what the emblem represented but he still knew what a toll fee was.
After all, the Quan Zhen Sect had opened a sea route shortly before and they mandated that people had to pay a toll fee if they wanted to travel from Harbor City to Immortal Island.
Wang Yu was a law-abiding person and since this was the rule here, he casually asked, “How much?”
“One gold coin per person!” the Warrior declared.
“So cheap?”
Wang Yu was quite surprised at the affordable toll fees. The toll fees from Harbor City to Immortal Island was ten gold coins per person. Therefore, the toll fees here were very much cheaper in comparison.
Wang Yu handed two gold coins over to that Warrior and he immediately made way.
As the two continued on their journey, within a few minutes, there was another group of players who blocked the road. They pointed to their emblem and demanded, “Toll fee, please.”

“???”
Wang Yu was astonished and he answered in an annoyed voice, “We have already paid earlier.”
The Warrior slammed his broadsword into the ground, “That’s nothing got to do with us! To each their own! You better pay the toll fees or scram back where you came from.”
“Watch your tone!” Wang Yu’s face darkened as his words turned icy cold.
“Forget it.” Meng Xi who had not spoken tossed over two gold coins over to the Warrior. She turned to Wang Yu, “It is only two gold coins after all. We have no need to antagonise them!”
“It is not the cost of the gold coins!” Wang Yu sulked, “This is robbery in broad daylight!”
“Hm! That’s right!”
A small built Assassin stepped out from the shadows of the Warrior and taunted Wang Yu, “We are indeed robbing you. What are you going to do about it?”
Following that, the Assassin whipped out a dagger and his comrades also got ready for battle.
“Boom!”
Before they were even ready, there was a muffled sound and the Assassin dissipated into white light from Wang Yu’s punch.
Wang Yu looked at his fist before looking up at the other players. He plainly said, “What did you say I could do to you?”
“!!!”
Seeing that Wang Yu had killed the Assassin with one punch in an instant, these players knew they had provoked the wrong person.
The Warrior quickly handed back the gold coins to Wang Yu, “Big brother… This is your money, you can go wherever you want to! We did not know the Assassin from just now.”
Wang Yu did not take back the money as he simply furrowed his brows. “What is going on? How many others are blocking this road?”
“This…” The Warrior felt anguished as he said, “We have no intention to do such a thing but we were given no choice.”
“What? Did someone take a knife and threaten you?” Wang Yu inquired.
“It is not to that extent.” The Warrior bitterly replied, “Big brother, I guess you are heading towards the Ethel Mountain Range?”
“Yes!” Wang Yu acknowledged.
“I urge you to come along with us so that we can reduce the overall toll fees this way,” the Warrior advised.
“Reduce the toll fees by travelling together? What is the meaning of this?” Wang Yu rubbed his nose. This was getting a little strange.
At this moment, a Magician at the side interjected, “From here to the west all the way to the Ethel Mountain Range, there is an individual claiming toll fees of a hundred gold. Many of us here are just trying to offset the cost of the toll fees by claiming toll fees ourselves.”
“Yes, yes, yes!” The Warrior nodded his head vigorously and pointed to the emblem on his chest. “You see, we have spent gold coins to acquire uniforms with fake Ancient Empire guild emblems.
“Robbery and impersonation? This brat sure has some ability. Is he not afraid the Ancient Empire will come for him?” Wang Yu was surprised. To think there are some players who have the gall to oppose the authority of the Ancient Empire.
“He is not! He is a super expert! One with a tremendous amount of skill!” The Warrior continued with fear and trepidation, “Ancient Empire knows about his existence, but they cannot do anything about it. Even their top experts from Kyushu Squad have faced defeat when they challenged him.
“Are you sure? Isn’t the Kyushu Squad supposedly extremely formidable? What is his name?”
Wang Yu was confused. Even though the Kyushu Squad has lost under the hands of Quan Zhen Sect, their strength was definitely in the upper echelons. It was tough to find other experts that could match them.
“He said he was called Iron Bull!” the Warrior harrumphed.

Immortal Shards
In the boundless multiverse, all possibilities, no matter how remote, exist somewhere. Universes are born, or are created, and die, or do not. In the vast Myriad Heavens Cosmos, a reality far away from our own, a mysterious energy called Mana provides the basis for both physical techniques and magical techniques, and interweaves and is part of all matter, all spirits, and all energy. Mana is the lifeblood of the world, and those who channel and cultivate its power are called cultivators, for they strive to grow along the myriad paths of power and enlightenment. There are many such paths, known as Dao, but they all feature Shards! When a being, man, beast, or otherwise, gains a large enough Mana sea in their body, a crystal core, known as a shard, containing the essence of their power, the ideals and emotions that motivate them, and the essence of their soul will form. A beast which cultivates to the level of forming a shard is called a Magical Beast. A human or other being that does is known as a Mystic. A shard may be a Mage Shard, allowing one to use mana to attack with the elements and produce fantastical, reality bending spells. A shard may also be a Warrior shard, channeling elemental and mana power into one’s physical form, shaped into projectiles, or various other uses; or it can be a Immortal Shard, with the abilities of a Warrior and Mage shard both, and others besides. Anyone who forms an Immortal Shard has the potential to shock the vast planes of reality! In the eternal struggle between the living, who will gain advantage, and for how long? Who will live and who will die? Who will protect and guide the commoners, and fight rogue Mystics and Beasts? Into this world, a child with a potential beyond his wildest imaginations is born. But on the journey of cultivation, there are no guarantees! Will he reach his fated glory, or will he die an ignoble death? This is the story of Alexander Grandstar, and even the gods may not know where it goes! Current release schedule is 1 chapter a week, on whatever day I decide to place it (usually Saturday or Sunday)
