《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1462. The Uprising

“The plan is simple.” Upon seeing Meng Xi’s look of excitement, Sanguine Rain coolly said, “Infuriate them! Destroy the thing that is the most important to them!”
“The most important to them? Are you implying?”
“Yes! It’s Twilight City!” Sanguine Rain added, “Twilight City is the fruit of their hard labour. If you guys were to help us snatch over Twilight City, how do you think they will react to it?”
“Eh?”
Upon hearing what Sanguine Rain said, Meng Xi’s gaze brightened at the thought of it. She asked excitedly, “Are you saying that if we were to snatch Twilight City over, Quan Zhen Sect’s people will come chasing after us?”
“That’s right!” Sanguine Rain nodded satisfyingly and praised, “Lady Meng Xi is truly brilliant!”
Even though the intention behind the words said by Sanguine Rain and Captain Don’t Open Fire were the same, when it was delivered by Sanguine Rain, it had totally aroused Meng Xi’s interest. Upon seeing this, Captain Don’t Open Fire and the rest were left stunned speechless.
Damn it. This brat, Sanguine Rain, was actually so good at convincing others with his words. It was a waste for him to become a professional gamer.
“That’s too simple!”
After pondering over it for a moment, Meng Xi asked, “However, you guys are not doing much in this plan. Why should we cooperate with you guys and even allow you to take over as the new City Lord for nothing in return?”
Seems like this lady was extremely intelligent. Even though she was aroused by Sanguine Rain’s words, she did not lose her sense of reasoning and could easily see through Sanguine Rain’s intentions.
Sanguine Rain wiped the beads of sweat on his forehead and said, “Lady, you shouldn’t underestimate Quan Zhen Sect! If you wish to find trouble with them in Twilight City, without our Void Blade’s help, you wouldn’t be able to do so. After all, we are the only ones that have the qualifications to go against them in the entire Twilight City!”
What Sanguine Rain said was right.
With Wang Yu acting as the City Lord, he had absolute authority in the whole of Twilight City. If they wanted to overthrow Wang Yu’s rule, they needed the masses to rebel.

Based on the system settings, a player could qualify to take over the rule as City Lord only if his or her City Contribution Points is higher than that of the current City Lord.
Needless to say, after acting as the District Manager for a period of time, Void Blade’s City Contribution Points had long surpassed Wang Yu’s.
Even though Wang Yu was the City Lord, he rarely fulfilled his duties as one. Additionally, despite the number of players under Sanguine Alliance, they were on the same side as Quan Zhen Sect and would naturally not harbour any intentions of taking over the city. The only faction left in the city was Void Blade. After taking over as District Manager, Void Blade had placed their entire focus on the development of their region so as to increase its GDP. Additionally, Captain Don’t Open Fire was someone that was willing to splurge on the game as well, thus the growth of their district was exceptional.
Therefore, currently within Twilight City, in terms of both City Development and Citizen Popularity, Void Blade had surpassed Quan Zhen Sect, and only they had the qualifications to overthrow Quan Zhen Sect’s rule.
Meng Xi was clearly unfamiliar with matters such as these. She turned over and looked towards the bunch from Sacred Hall Squad and asked, “What do you guys think?”
Jeff said, “What he said is right!”
The rest nodded in acknowledgement.
“So what are your conditions?” Meng Xi asked Sanguine Rain once more.
“Twilight City!” Sanguine Rain resolutely answered with more confidence than Captain Don’t Open Fire.
“Deal!” Meng Xi decisively answered.
“This… what kind of sorcery is this?” Captain Don’t Open Fire and Big Bear Deng Deng stared at each other blankly.
Sanguine Rain answered, “The power of words!”
It was clearly the case of Void Blade begging Sacred Hall Squad to help them deal with Quan Zhen Sect. However, from the words spoken by Sanguine Rain, they had become the ones that were helping Sacred Hall Squad to cause a commotion here in Twilight City.
Not only did Sacred Hall Squad not get any material benefits in this transaction, they would even incur the wrath of Quan Zhen Sect…
What are the kinds of people in Quan Zhen Sect? Petty people!

A nobleman can afford to take his revenge after ten years, but people like Quan Zhen Sect will take their revenge every single day within these ten years. Provoking this group of people would only entail lifelong suffering under their relentless harassment.
This was the reason why large guilds like Sanguine Alliance and Void Blade did not dare to provoke Quan Zhen Sect, it was too troublesome…
Of course, this was the effect that the Sacred Hall Squad wanted. Thus, both parties were able to get what they want from this trade.
…
After discussing the terms, Meng Xi asked, “So when are we taking over the city?”
Sanguine Rain calmly replied, “No rush! We have to wait until the whole of Quan Zhen Sect is online!”
Even though the purpose of an uprising and a city war was to take over the position as City Lord, the playing style was completely different.
A city war mostly involved strategizing a war strategy, before commanding troops over to forcibly siege the city. An uprising, on the other hand, involved assassinations and was more of a battle of wits.
Even though the usurper could still engage in an all-out war with the City Lord’s faction, the better alternative was to assassinate the City Lord and snatch over the City Lord Seal.
During the period of an uprising, the special powers and entitlements belonging to the City Lord would be ineffective against the players from the Uprising faction. However, the City Lord would be able to receive a warning prior to the assassination so as to allow him to make his necessary preparations.
In most cases, the uprising faction usually had absolute confidence in the strength of their guild, and would be many times larger in size than that of the City Lord’s guild. Thus, most cases of uprisings usually involved large scale battles.
If I have the bigger fist in the city, I have the final say in it.
That is because only with absolute strength would others not dare to have any designs on your authority.
Otherwise, even if the assassination succeeded, a few days later, the rule over the city would still be snatched back by the faction with the greater strength… that would truly be a miserable outcome.
Captain Don’t Open Fire was extremely familiar with Quan Zhen Sect.
The goal of an uprising was the City Lord Seal, it wasn’t a contest of ruthlessness.
The bunch from Quan Zhen Sect all had extraordinary individual capabilities and were extremely slippery. If they were to send in too many people, their movements would be extremely obvious. There would be no way for them to get their hands on the City Lord Seal.
As for assassination, there would be a warning given to the City Lord prior to it. With Wang Yu’s inhumane fighting strength, he wouldn’t even be afraid of a player stabbing him in the back unexpectedly. With the warning system in place, how would they be able to get their hands on him?
Precisely because of this, Void Blade was left helpless when it came to dealing with Quan Zhen Sect, and could only grit their teeth and lay low in the past.
This time around, however, with the help of the mighty experts from Sacred Hall Squad, together with their own experts from Void Blade, there was no way for Quan Zhen Sect to escape.
Speaking up till this point, some of you may be wondering, even if Void Blade was to take over Twilight City, weren’t they afraid of Quan Zhen Sect snatching it back?
Scared, of course they’re scared. However, the prestige and development points of the guild that had lost their rule over the city would be reduced by half… If it was a large guild like the Sanguine Alliance, given the manpower that they had, this difference would be recuperated in a few day’s time.
However, with the few people from Quan Zhen Sect? They wouldn’t be able to catch up in their lifetime.
…
Meng Xi and her group had already been waiting for this day to come since the release of the game until the day the European region merged with the China region. Thus, they naturally wouldn’t mind waiting around for another day’s worth of time.
“Alright. Remember to notify me the moment all of them are online!”
After finishing her sentence, Meng Xi led her people out of the office of Void Blade.

Gaijin means outsider or foreigner. That goes doubly so for David Wyatt after he found himself in a world being chased by something that looked eerily like a stereotypical Japanese Oni.
