《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1413. The Key

“Iron… Brother Ironbull…”
Hearing what Wang Yu said, God of Death’s Left Hand and the rest almost teared up. Before they could say anything touching, Wang Yu’s following words almost angered them to death.
Wang Yu shook his head and sighed, “Sigh, how pathetic is it for a professional team to be so poor. I was poor once so seeing you guys like that makes me feel bad!”
“F*ck!”
God of Death’s Left Hand was stunned by those words. He was so angry that he almost threw the gemstones at Wang Yu’s face to show that he might be poor but he was not a beggar.
Damn it, the Kingdom of Hell was poor but they were still professional experts. In the game, killing BOSS and completing high-level quests were the exclusive rights of such experts. Even though they were poor compared to other professional teams, Kingdom of Hell did not need sympathy.
Moreover, Kingdom of Hell just found a big team, Sanguine Alliance, to back them up so they were not short of money. Although their old habits remained, they were not as pathetic as Wang Yu said.
Seeing how angry God of Death’s Left Hand was, Quan Zhen Sect laughed until they rolled on the floor. Well, Wang Yu’s honesty was this brutal. In fact, this was as subtle as he could be.
“Why?” Seeing everyone’s weird expressions, Wang Yu asked puzzledly, “What’s with you guys?”
“No… Nothing.” Fearless waved his hand in dismissal, “God of Death and the rest are very touched.”
After speaking, Fearless looked at God of Death’s Left Hand wanting to throw the gemstones at Wang Yu then asked, “Are you touched?”
“I… I don’t dare.” God of Death’s Left Hand lowered his head.
Forget it, after all, Wang Yu did it out of goodwill. God of Death’s Left Hand was not someone who did not know any better so no matter how angry he was, he would not really pick a fight with Wang Yu.

“Let’s continue!”
Before they entered the palace, they already earned so many good things so everyone was in a good mood. God of Death’s Left Hand kept the Inferno Gems as everyone came to the palace’s gate happily.
The palace gates were secured. Crotch Lord and Boson, who were right in front, instinctively pushed it but the gate did not move at all.
Everyone was not surprised at that because, in the game, a lot of gates couldn’t be opened by sheer force.
“Two idiots, of course I am needed for such an important task!”
Just then, Frost Blade looked at the two of them with despise and walked to the front. He took out an odd-looking key from his bad and stabbed it a few times at the gate then gently pushed it with a wide smile on his face.
“…”
The gate did not move at all.
“???”
Everyone suddenly quieted down and Frost Blade’s smile faded.
“It doesn’t work!”
Frost Blade awkwardly shook his hand then stabbed the key a few more times but the palace gate remained tightly closed.
Frost Blade’s sweat rolled down his neck.
Everyone watched him and felt surprised too.
It was normal for gates to be unable to open in dungeons so they always brought a Thief with them to open gates, known as the Gate Thief.
Frost Blade’s PK abilities were average but he was a hardworking person and was not short of money so he was extremely familiar with such skills. His lock-opening skills were already at the maximum they could be and he was a professional Gate Thief.
If he could not open the gate in one try, he would be the useless thief but if he could not open it after so many times, something was amiss.
If they could not even open the gate to a dungeon, what else could they do? There must be something to this gate.

Everyone started looking around instead.
Just then, Yang Nuo suddenly pointed at the gate and said, “What’s that on top?”
“On top??”
Everyone looked at where she was pointing at and realised the top of the gate was filled with notches, looking quite gross. In the middle of the two gates, there was a large notch on each of them.
As the gates’ colour was the same as the notch, a bright red, without looking closely, no one could tell there was something on the door. Without Yang Nuo’s extraordinary senses as a martial arts practitioner and an Archer, they might take forever to find these notches.
This really showed how much effort the game designers put it to be cruel.
“Are these notches for the keys?” Frost Blade mumbled as he grazed his hand across the gates.
“No!” Fearless counted the number of notches then said, “Take the Inferno Pearls and Gems out.”
“What?”
Hearing what Fearless said, everyone was shocked and said in surprise, “These stones are for opening the gate?”
Fearless nodded and said, “Based on the number of them, they should be!”
“F*ck!!!”
Everyone cursed once they heard those words.
Damn it, it was no wonder such small monsters would drop such rare stones. They actually served a purpose.
Splitting the gains and spitting the gains felt very different. The game designers definitely did this on purpose.
This was especially true for Kingdom of Hell’s player… Usually, they had not seen much of such good things. Now that they had to take out the little good things they had, they felt extremely miserable.
However, if they did not take it out, they could not continue the rest of the dungeon. This was a hidden dungeon. If its small monsters could drop minerals, what’s awaiting them needless to be said. No matter how unwilling they were, everyone knew what to do.
Hence, under God of Death’s Left Hand’s lead, everyone placed their Inferno Pearls in Frost Blade’s hand.
Frost Blade placed the pearls on the notch with one hand while using his other to hold a dagger to hit them in.
“Pa-da!” The pearls were embedded into the notch.
“Pa ta!” “Pata!”
Following the knocking sounds, the last two Inferno Gems were also pressed into the notches and instantly, the two gemstones emitted blinding rays of light.
All the pearls connected together and formed an odd magic scripture on the gate.
“Cheeekaa!”
The palace gates slowly opened and Wang Yu and the rest walked inside.
Passing by the gates, everyone arrived at the courtyard.
The courtyard was spacious and its colour scheme was still the same bright red. Hundreds of small monsters were patrolling around the courtyard, making the scene look spectacular.
“Da, da, da!”
Just then, a knocking sound appeared from behind them. Everyone turned around quickly and saw Fearless ordering Frost Blade to take down the Inferno Pearls.
“Boss Fearless, what is the meaning of this?”
Seeing what Frost Blade was doing, God of Death’s Left Hand was puzzled so he asked Fearless.
“Rubbish!” Fearless said impatiently, “Do you leave your keys on the door after opening it?”
“F*ck…”
Everyone was stunned. Although they felt something was wrong, Fearless’ words made sense after some thought and they were unable to refute him.
“Pata!” “Pata!”
Just like that, God of Death’s left hand and the rest stood stunned on the spot as they watched Frost Blade expertly knock down the pearls and gems on the door with a rhythm.
“Cheeekaa!” “Boom!”
After the last Inferno Gem landed, the palace gates closed and at the same time, the monsters in the courtyard all turned to look at Wang Yu and the rest of them.

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here. Cover: original work done by me, the author, caerulex.
