《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1396. Damages Claim

“Me…?”
Sanguine Warflag was a little surprised at the authority Fearless gave for him to state a price for his own compensation.
In the past where Fearless was around, he was always the one stating the amount of compensation.
In actual fact, the reason why Sanguine Warflag felt that way was because Sanguine Alliance had always been the one giving the compensation to Quan Zhen Sect.
…
Despite that, Sanguine Warflag was still the leader of a guild and knew how compensations work.
After rounds of calculations with Sanguine Asura, Sanguine Warflag told Fearless, “We had quite a huge number of casualties this time and all of us even committed suicide once. After adding it with the expenditure from the support the last time around, this amount is the least!”
“One million coins?” Fearless was shocked by the number.
Sanguine Warflag was really one with no ambition. How was one million enough to cover their emotional damage and the fact that they were in a war for no reason?
That being said, Sanguine Alliance was a legitimate guild and hence it made sense for them to have calculated the compensation amount professionally. Quan Zhen Sect was just a bunch of shameless b*stards who was merely looking to squeeze every cent dry from their opponents.
The total headcount for the war was thirty thousand men and the most it would cost including the death count was no more than a few hundred thousand coins. Asking for one million coins would already give them a 50% profit.
After the exchange rate became 1:10, the market became saturated and the rates became more stable. One million coins equated to ten million RMB. How was ten million RMB little from just a war in a game?
Sanguine Warflag thought that he gave too high of a price after seeing Fearess’s reaction and continued, “If this is too much, I can give them a discount.”

“No need for that!” Fearless waved his hands and told Boson, “Do it our old way!”
“En!”
Boson nodded and translated to Black Dragon King, “There are a total of 30 thousand players in Sanguine Alliance, and each player should receive 100 coins!”
After saying that, Boson stared at Black Dragon King to observe his reaction. However, Black Dragon King was unexpectedly rich and agreed calmly, “A hundred coins for each player, that would make three million coins. That’s reasonable!”
After saying that, Black Dragon King handed Boson three bags of coins.
“…”
Even Fearless was surprised at Black Dragon King’s straightforwardness as he couldn’t help but raise his brows.
Three million coins was such a huge amount that even Quan Zhen Sect would find difficult to withdraw at one go, but Black Dragon King brought this much money with him? Evidently, that three million was not a very huge sum to Black Dragon King.
However, it made sense after careful considerations. The six cities under Black Dragon Guild had a total population of a few hundred thousand, and every single player would not even receive more than ten coins if three million coins were to be split amongst all their players after tax and resource value…
It was clear that the value of a businessman like Black Dragon King to survive in this game was immeasurable by gold coins. He was definitely the Japanese version of Evil Rampage.
At the thought of this, Quan Zhen Sect started ranting in the group, “Damn it, we should have asked for more if we knew that he was this rich.”
This was what everyone meant by the Quan Zhen-style shamelessness.
After receiving the money, Boson gave two of them to Fearless and one of them to Sanguine Warflag.

“???”
Both Sanguine Warflag and Black Dragon King was confused.
Fearless and Boson spoke at the same time, “This is the service fee!” Both of them then pointed to Wang Yu who was sitting on the roof.
Black Dragon King and Sanguine Warflag raised their head then looked at Wang Yu and immediately understood.
For such an expert to come to their aid, no one dared to question anything.
After getting the compensation, Sanguine Warflag’s smile flourished immediately and all the unhappiness from the war disappeared.
Today was such a good day, not only did he get a free city, he even got himself a huge sum of compensation as well. It seemed like Fearless was right about how wonderful it was to convert hatred into money.
“Can we leave now?” Black Dragon King asked.
Money was paid and the parties involved were happy. Black Dragon King did not want to stay in this depressing piece of land for any longer.
Right when Boson was about to give Black Dragon King the permission to leave, Fearless said, “What’s the rush! That was just compensation and we still have to talk about the toll fee.”
“Toll?”
Black Dragon King paused at what Fearless said, “What toll?”
“Don’t act like you are not aware!” Fearless pointed to the buildings around and said, “Look! Yamatai and Saga City are part of Twilight City since ages ago. How can we let you outsiders come and leave as you like? It it were to be in real life, this could be considered as illegal trespassing on a small scale and an invasion on a big scale and is to be brought up to the military tribunal!”
“You!!”
Black Dragon King shouted angrily, “What do you want from me?”
Black Dragon King finally realised that he met a troublemaker and it would not be that easy to leave this place.
“How many Black Dragon Guild players are there on this island currently?” Fearless questioned.
“One hundred fifty thousand!” Black Dragon King spoke impatiently.
Players could resurrect in the game, hence without excluding the death count, there were originally 120 to 130 thousand players in Yamatai and Saga City. After adding the reinforcement troops that came afterwards, there were about 150 thousand players.
“One hundred fifty thousand!!” Fearless raged, “We only have a few ten thousand players here, but you guys have one hundred fifty thousand? What else could this be if this was not an invasion?”
“As you say.” Black Dragon King did not bother arguing with Fearless anymore.
“Hmph!” Fearless snorted, “The people I hate the most are invaders! Same thing, pay one hundred coins for each of the one hundred fifty thousand Black Dragon Guild players here!”
“Fifteen million?” Black Dragon King could not stay calm anymore even though he was rich, “Why don’t you go rob?”
“What a joke!” Fearless spoke with despise, “How can robbing be faster than this! I am not like you guys.”
“What if I refuse?” Black Dragon King said with a displeased expression.
“That’s okay too!” Fearless pointed to the direction of the city gate and continued, “Yamatai City and Saga City are now Twilight City’s affiliated cities. We just have to close the gate and the harbour and you guys will not be able to leave this city ever again.”

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
