《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1386. Staking It All

Following Black Dragon King’s command, the morale of the Black Dragon Guild players rose once more.
At the end of the day, everyone played games in order to feel good.
With such a huge disparity in the strengths of both parties, employing small tricks here and there was merely the Boss’ effort to save resources in order to win this war. Charging head-on into battle against the enemy was what the players themselves wanted to do the most.
Initially, the Black Dragon Guild players were feeling frustrated at the current stalemate with Sanguine Alliance. Now that they heard that they would directly attack the city, all of their hearts trembled in excitement. Following which, they went into their formations in earnest and began surrounding the city.
On top of the city walls, Wang Yu and the rest were observing the enemy. Upon seeing the Black Dragon Guild players gathering together, completely enveloping Saga City, Ming Du couldn’t help but ask, “F*ck, there are so many players attacking the city, can Sanguine Alliance make it?”
As sturdy as the city walls were, it wasn’t impenetrable. Ants could bite an elephant to death with sufficient numbers. With so many players attacking the city, it was only a matter of time before they breached it.
“Haha!”
However, Fearless on the other hand calmly smiled and said, “Clearly, Black Dragon Guild has completely ruined their hand of good playing cards.”
Upon hearing what Fearless said, Ming Du asked in confusion, “What nonsense are you saying? Sanguine Alliance may not even be able to defeat these people in front of us. Don’t forget that they still have their reinforcements behind them.”
“No!” At this moment, Wang Yu pointed to the Black Dragon Guild players below them and explained, “Their formation is a little chaotic now, having more people wouldn’t be more advantageous for them at all!”
“Eh?” Upon hearing what Wang Yu said, Fearless’ face revealed a look of surprise. He threw a thumbs up at Wang Yu and said, “You’re smart!”
That’s right!
The players were, at the end of the day, gamers that stayed at home all day and night. Even if Black Dragon King was a crafty and scheming old fox, his mindset was still that of a businessman.
Each occupation had its own expertise. Formations and strategies in war were definitely not the expertise of a commercial businessman.
For an ordinary person, if they were not influential enough, they wouldn’t even be able to command five people, much less over a hundred thousand players.

Even if he had sufficient influence and authority, sending over a hundred thousand players to war was nothing more than a mob battle.
As the number of troops increased, the requirements on the battlefield, battle strategy and battle formation would be harsher.
It should be known that, in the entire history of Japan, there had only been a few battles that involved tens of thousands of people, much less one that involved over a hundred thousand of them.
In the past, there had never been a general that could command a hundred thousand troops at one time. Black Dragon King was merely someone that did sales, who gave him the courage to lead such a large army?
Take Sanguine Alliance for example, after operating in the virtual universe for so long, they eventually developed a structure within the guild. Even though their battle setup wasn’t as efficient as that of an actual military army, they still had a captain, a squad leader so on and so forth.
Currently, even with Sanguine Alliance’s infrastructure, they were still struggling to manage the tens of thousands of members atop the city walls.
Black Dragon Guild, on the other hand, had over a hundred thousand players within the army and Black Dragon King had only given them a single command. Without any battle formations whatsoever, they were ordered to charge towards the city walls… They clearly thought that they would be able to turn the tides of the battle with just sheer numbers.
With such a fighting style, even though the sheer size of the army appeared ferocious, it was extremely chaotic. Wanting to turn the tides of the battle with just this was merely wishful thinking on Black Dragon King’s part.
Of course, it wasn’t because Black Dragon King’s battle strategy planning was lacking. But rather, it was because this fellow was used to strategizing on paper and was inexperienced in an actual battle. He had overlooked numerous factors that may occur on the actual battlefield.
If there were a few more capable leaders within Black Dragon Guild, with the strength of over a hundred thousand players, it was only a matter of time before Saga City fell to them. However, with their current messy battle style, there wouldn’t be any effective outcome.
Even though it wasn’t wrong to say that Black Dragon Guild will eventually take the upper hand in this battle, wanting to take over Saga City in such a short period of time was impossible…
It was no wonder that Fearless said Black Dragon King had ruined his hand of good playing cards.

As expected, after the hundred thousand players from Black Dragon Guild received Black Dragon King’s orders, all of the players suddenly appeared as if they were on steroids, as they charged towards Saga City.
In the beginning, the Black Dragon Guild players still had some sort of battle sense, with the Warriors leading the charge, and the damage dealers at the back…
Eventually, as the fight went on, all of them had forgotten what a battle formation was. They ignored any commands and charged mindlessly towards Saga City.
This was considered one of the better outcomes. There were even some sinister players that wouldn’t even be bothered with charging with the rest. Instead, they lurked at the back of the group and looted whatever equipment that was dropped from those players that died…
If this battle was set in the era of weapons, with the size of both armies, the corpse of these players would be able to form a pathway leading into the city.
However, what was the world in which the game was set in?
An era of swords and magic!
Apart from the swords and weapons in this game, there was magic as well. There were even firearms…
On top of Saga City’s city walls, apart from the numerous large AOE city defense machineries, there were also countless of Magicians situated atop the city walls. Wanting to rely on the advantage in numbers to overrun the city walls was impossible.
In the face of Sanguine Alliance, which was superior in terms of battle formations and order, the lives of the Black Dragon Guild players was only worth that of a single magic spell or arrow.
The Sanguine Alliance players, after having committed suicide previously, had finally taken over the control of the battle for the first time.
The closest resurrection point for the Black Dragon Guild players, on the other hand, was all the way in a village located in Yamatai Valley, meant for new players…
After Black Dragon King had given the order, this village had experienced its second surge of player population ever since the game had been opened to the public. At this moment, Black Dragon King’s message tab was exploding.
After the deaths of so many players, yet not being able to breach the city walls of Saga City, Lava Teeth and Dragon Blade naturally didn’t dare to hide the information of the battle from Black Dragon King. Thus, everyone could more or less guess the kind of information that Black Dragon King was flooded with.
Black Dragon King’s reaction was surprisingly calm upon receiving these news. In the face of such a chaotic scene, he was only slightly surprised at this outcome. Following which, he calmly replied, “It doesn’t matter! Let them kill!! After a while, the reinforcements from Izumo City will arrive and join our forces! I want to see how long they would be able to last!”
It seemed like Black Dragon King, this sly old fox, wasn’t completely caught off guard with the appearance of such a situation. Instead, he had chosen an even more barbaric method of dealing with it.
Since you all are that eager to kill my people, good, I will let you kill until you are satisfied! During a City War, the experience points loss from a player’s death was reduced. It would still take some time for over a hundred thousand players to die at least once.
However, killing a single player would require at least a few arrows or four to five magic spells. Whether or not they would be able to sustain this battle would be determined by the number of supplies Sanguine Alliance possessed.
It could be said that it wasn’t easy to deal with a businessman. Even though their planning and calculations may be inferior to you, they would still be able to instill fear into your heart when they decide to be ruthless in their methods.
This nonstop City War lasted all the way from early noon till late evening, with both sides exhausting numerous of their resources.
Even though Sanguine Alliance did not suffer many deaths, they had already used up most of their supplies…
Potions also had cooldown durations. During the cooldowns, the Sanguine Alliance players could only resort to a substitution system to recover themselves.
However, in the face of the never-ending waves of enemies, it was impossible to rely solely on such a passive method of recovery. Currently, almost all of the Sanguine Alliance players were left with half of their MP bars.
On the contrary, the number of Black Dragon Guild players seemed inexhaustible. They continued their charge without showing any signs of stopping anytime soon.
Just when he was experiencing a headache over the waves of never-ending Black Dragon Guild players, Fearless suddenly received a message from Yang Nuo, who was in the observation tower, “There seems to be more players from the Black Dragon Guild heading over to reinforce the main army from the harbor.”

System Change
Years ago, Earth was indoctrinated into the "System." Earth was not the only place with the System, however. With the System came the other races, Invaders. The Invaders had one goal, to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. This created a bloodbath, and for years the war raged. This didn't really have much to do with Derek. Derek was kind of a loner. Yeah, he enjoyed the occasional chat or drink with others, but he never stayed in one place too long or really got to know anybody new. Derek did happen to be rather strong. After the years of fighting monster and Invaders alone, he had become quite adept at surviving. One thing that helped keep him alive was his refusal to get involved with others. He rarely cooperated with teams. One day, Derek broke his rules and decided to lend some help, as the mission didn't seem too hard. He should have stuck to being alone. Hey everyone, this is my fiction, "System Change." It's the first time I've really tried to write a serial. All feedback is really appreciated. I plan to release chapters every Tuesday and Thursday. With occasional extra chapters being released. I will try to maintain a word count between 1500-2500 words per chapter. Thank you! I just made a Discord if anyone wants to join.

After Z
The signs were all there. A mysterious fever spreading in the wake of the pandemic. Increasing incidents of unrest with surprisingly little coverage by the media. Breakdowns in basic services. Nick had thought for years that total social collapse would come in his lifetime – he just never expected that collapse to come from the unquiet dead. As soon as he was sure enough that the potential danger outweighed the awkwardness of admitting that yes, the dead were rising, Nick grabbed his bug out bag and bugged out. It felt, at times, that the zombie movies, comics, and games he’d grown up with had been preparing for this moment. And Nick was right. But also very very wrong. After Z is an apocalyptic occult interactive serial about survivors hiding from the dead in a forest preserve. A new chapter is posted every week, and every week supporters vote on which way the story flows. This story will be added to daily until it's caught up with its current state elsewhere; if you don't want to wait you can read ahead on my blog.
