《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1353. Assassin Monarch

The scenery in Twilight City has never changed ever since the game started, thus Fearless was naturally uninterested in it. The reason why he was loitering around the streets of Twilight City was to discover any new NPCs added into the game and receive their quests. It should be known that the game was recently updated, and was the period of time in which those hidden NPCs and quests had yet to be activated by the players.
With this new update, there were indeed many new NPCs in Twilight City. However, most of these NPCs were utility NPCs. A player would not be able to receive any quests from them. Only those NPCs that lurked in hidden corners were those who handed out hidden quests.
At this moment, as Fearless was loitering around the streets, a group of players had arrived in Twilight City.
This group of players equipped leather armor and all had a dagger hanging on their waist, appearing out of place.
It was known to everyone that the only job class in > that used Daggers was the Assassin.
Even though the Assassin excelled in PK battles, it was rare for a team to be entirely composed of them.
After all, > was a game that heavily depended on the players’ team composition. If there was any slight imbalance in the team composition, a weakness would easily surface in the team, much less a team like this that only comprised of Assassins.
This leader of this group of Assassins had hidden his face behind a mask.
In >, there was a rather unique type of headgear that could be equipped by Assassins, called a Mask. Thus, it wasn’t rare to see Assassins that hid their faces behind these Masks. However, even though the face of the leader was concealed, it wasn’t difficult to tell that the leader of this group was a woman given the curves of her figure.
After stepping out of the teleportation circle of Twilight City, the leading female Assassin carefully analysed the surroundings before sternly asking her other team members, “I’m sure all of you are aware of our opponent this time right?”
“We understand!” the group of Assassins replied eagerly.

“It’s good that you understand!”
The female Assassin nodded her head and said, “This is more than just a quest for us, rather, it is a challenge. I’m sure there’s no need for me to explain the capabilities of our targets this time around, so everyone had better give in your 100%. Do not drag out the fight at all costs and make a run for it if you are unable to defeat your opponent, got it?”
“Understood!”
“We shall proceed as planned.”
After speaking, the group activated [Stealth] simultaneously and vanished from the teleportation point.
…
At this moment, Fearless had arrived in a small alley. The moment he walked into the alley, he felt that something was amiss. All of a sudden, a figure ran towards Fearless from the other end of the alley.
This figure was only about 1.2 metres in height and seemed like a child around seven to eight years old. In >, players couldn’t be registered if they weren’t above 12 years old, thus Fearless naturally thought that the owner of that figure was an NPC. Upon realising this, his heart leapt with joy as he walked forward to meet the figure.
Who would have thought that the moment the figure arrived right in front of Fearless, it took out a dagger and stabbed it towards Fearless from his front?
“F*ck!!”
Being the big boss of the bunch of crazy people in Quan Zhen Sect, even though he could not be compared with Wang Yu, his reaction time was still extremely quick. Upon seeing the little kid thrusting his dagger over, Fearless exclaimed in shock as he frantically activated [Sacred Ray] over his head before the dagger could pierce into it, triggering the [Invincibility] effect.
“Dang!!”
The moment the dagger landed on Fearless’ figure, a light a clear sound resounded throughout the alley. Even though Fearless wasn’t damaged by the attack, he took a few steps back after receiving the impact of it.
At this moment, Fearless finally saw the true face of this player. The player had a middle-aged man’s face attached onto the body of a little kid.
F*ck, with such a hideous look, he dared to give himself such an overbearing name?

“Eh, Southern Heaven Mighty God?”
Upon seeing this name, Fearless felt that he had a faint impression of it. After pondering over it for a while, Fearless suddenly pointed at Southern Heaven Mighty God and exclaimed, “You are a member of the Assassin Monarch?”
“Hehe!!”
Upon hearing this, Southern Heaven Mighty God cheekily smiled as he caressed the dagger in his hand and said, “To think that the third acting guild master of Quan Zhen Sect, Mr Fearless himself, has heard of our Assassin Monarch!”
“Ke ke!” Fearless coldly laughed and said, “I have naturally heard of your smelly reputation, it isn’t something to be proud of.”
After playing the game for so many years, Fearless had an understanding of the factions that had a certain degree of fame in the game. Furthermore, this small group of players wasn’t some random nobody.
Similar to Quan Zhen Sect, this Assassin Monarch was a small group of infamously known players.
Everyone knew the style in which Quan Zhen Sect did things. They would resort to any underhanded means, such as stealing, robbing, cheating, if it was in their own interests. However, all of these revolved around the basic principle of having fun in the game and mostly those powers that had a grudge against them. Even though they were ruthless in their means, there were still many players that respected the playing style of Quan Zhen Sect.
Assassin Monarch, on the other hand, was different. This group of players were all experts, and from their name, one could tell that they made a living by accepting fees in return for performing tasks. However, these players were willing to take up any dirty or evil jobs for the money, and were hated by all of the players in the game.
In the past, there was a game called , which was a martial arts game, and the entire game was split into two factions. Both Quan Zhen Sect and Assassin Monarch represented the bottom line of each faction, and it was during this period which both groups rose to fame.
However, what Quan Zhen Sect specialised in was combat knowledge and skills, while Assassin Monarch specialised in outright violence. As both entities had different beliefs, they constantly looked down on the abilities of each other but did not interact much either.
All along, both parties had never meddled in each other’s business. Thus, Fearless was surprised when he found out that he was ambushed by a player from Assassin Monarch.
“Ke ke!” After getting mocked by Fearless, Southern Heaven Mighty God did not lose his cool. On the contrary, he smiled to Fearless and said, “Likewise, likewise! Quan Zhen Sect is nothing much either.”
It seemed like in Southern Heaven Mighty God’s eyes, Quan Zhen Sect and Assassin Monarch were birds of the same feather.
“Enough nonsense!” Fearless icily said, “What is the purpose of your Assassin Monarch leaving your own territory and coming all the way to Twilight City to find me?”
Upon hearing this, Southern Heaven Mighty God narrowed his eyes and stared at Fearless as he said, “I’ve long heard that Sect Leader Fearless is a smart man. Surely you are able to guess what we want to do after meeting one of us from Assassin Monarch…”
“With you alone?”
Fearless glanced at Southern Heaven Mighty God and revealed a look of disdain.
There were only two reasons why Assassin Monarch would find trouble all the way over here. It was either to rob someone or to kill someone. However, Southern Heaven Mighty God was merely a lackey in Assassin Monarch. Regardless of how one put it, Fearless was the head of Quan Zhen Sect himself. Their statuses were completely different and yet this fellow still had the audacity to speak to him in such a tone.
“Heng heng!” Southern Heaven Mighty God coldly laughed and said, “If it were in the past, given my ranking, I would not dare to find trouble with you. However, Sect Leader Fearless better not forget that you are merely a Priest now! Go to hell!”
As he was speaking, the layer of sacred light enveloping Fearless body began to dissipate into thin air. At this moment, Southern Heaven Mighty God held his dagger in reverse and dashed towards Fearless once more.

Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.
