《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1271. Fighting!

Earth element magic was the most powerful defensive ability in the game. Ming Du raised an earth wall and directly blocked the attack of Innocent Playmate.
At this instance, the silhouettes of Innocent Playmate flashed and she appeared behind Ming Du. Raising his staff, she summoned two streaks of shining ice blades.
Ice Swordsmanship!
An Ice Element Magician’s level 50 skill. It was similar to a Thunder Element Magician’s [Berserk Thunder]. This skill had the potential to kill an opponent within seconds.
Following that, Innocent Playmate lifted her staff once again and the two ice blades soared towards Ming Du’s back.
Ming Du saw Innocent Playmate’s sudden appearance so he quickly turned around. With both hands, he fully displayed his skill in [Icy Wall]. He created another ice wall in front of him.
“Dang dang!”
With a soft clank, the two ice blades that Innocent Playmate had sent out had melted and dissipated into water vapour. Ming Du’s ice wall was also shattered in the collision.
“Eh?”
Seeing the scene before them, the Quan Zhen Sect and the other players from Kyushu Squad were taken aback.
In > game settings, proficiency of skill usage was an extremely important determinant in battles. Both Physical attacks and Magic attacks had their own type of judgements required.
Other than this aspect, a player’s element type was also another important determinant.
For example, for basic grade magic like [Fire Ball], it was generally difficult to use it to counter an intermediate grade magic shield. Even the opponent was more powerful, [Fire Ball] would even lose all effectiveness.
One had to know that the experts in Great Desolate Squad could only be considered reserves to the Kyushu Squad. This was a testament to the immense strength of Innocent Playmate.
Ming Du [Icy Wall] was only a level 35 Magician intermediate skill. It was not comparable to the advanced skill [Icy Blades].

The outcome of the fight left Kyushu Squad amazed because they were astonished that Innocent Playmate’s skill was countered by a skill that was one grade lower.
The players from Quan Zhen Sect were most familiar with Ming Du’s personality.
Although he was extreme, his magic output was extraordinarily robust. He had added a significant amount of his stat points towards intelligence. With a full set of equipment that boosted his magic bonuses, his magic output had reached a terrifying degree.
It was shocking for them that this unassuming naive looking young lady had actually managed to destroy Ming Du’s [Icy Wall] in a single move… She was no doubt an expert from the Kyushu Squad. There was no weak link in their Squad.
…
The two players on the stage gave each other meaningful glances.
Each player reached the conclusion that their opponent’s level of skill had exceeded their initial expectations.
Ming Du knew that his opponent was comparable to him in magic output whereas he was far behind her in coordination.
Magic output was not useful if a player could not even target an opponent accurately. If the match continued in this manner, he could only passively defend himself.
Innocent Playmate embodied the stereotypical professional level player playstyle. No matter whether it was a battle of speed or reaction time, she was able to match any type of opponent.
The only glaring weakness of this lady was her insufficient actual combat experience… If the opponent did not fall immediately to her initial move, Innocent Playmate would run out of ideas on how to react.
“[Icy Ravine]!”
Ming Du was momentarily stunned as Innocent Playmate slammed her staff on the ground. The ground under her feet bulged and erupted into a wide crack which extended rapidly to Ming Du.
“Tsk!”

Ming Du smiled slightly and his body flashed in front of Innocent Playmate.
“!!!!”
Ming Du had a hideous appearance which played a role in unsettling opponents once he got within close proximity of them. Innocent Playmate was appalled as she broke into a cold sweat. She had almost lost the staff in her hands.
If Ming Du was a few degrees uglier, he would be able to scare Innocent Playmate to death. It seems that being ugly was not a weakness after all… Unfortunately, this handsome cow could not understand such a notion.
“Oh sh*t!”
Ming Du was a Magician yet he even dared to move close to his opponent. The audience was taken aback.
What was going on with Team A Murder Of Crows? They already had a close-combat Archer and there was a close-combat Magician now?
Ming Du was not a martial artist and he still lacked the skills required to be a close-combat Magician. However, facing Innocent Playmate, he might as well gamble on facing her in close range whereby his magic could actually deal some damage.
Being a law enforcement officer, Ming Du had a wealth of combat experience. The sudden closing of the distance by Ming Du caused Innocent Playmate to panic as Ming Du raised his staff to aim a strike at her chest.
Innocent Playmate hurriedly raised her hands and formed an Icy Wall. She surmised that her wall would be able to defend against such a basic attack.
Just as Innocent Playmate was about to cast her skill, Ming Du leaped deftly into the air. He generated a thunderbolt with one hand which was crackling with electricity and aimed it at Innocent Playmate’s mid-region.
Although there was a gap between the two players, the overwhelming advantage of [Spear of Lightning] compared to [Icy Wall] meant that Ming Du held the advantage in this exchange.
The brittle [Icy Wall] crumbled in the face of Ming Du’s attack.
“Dang…”
Since the wall provided no defence for Innocent Playmate, she was fully vulnerable to Ming Du as Ming Du thrust his spear into her stomach.
“Bang!”
Innocent Playmate dissipated into a streak of blue fog.
“???”
“[Icy Shadow]!!’
Ming Du was taken aback and retreated into the distance. However, Innocent Playmate appeared behind him and chimed sweetly, “[Frigid Prison]!”
Although Ming Du had retreated, a massive block of ice was closing in on him from all sides.
Ming Du was trapped this time since he did have any equivalent skill of [Icy Shadow].
“Goodbye!”
Innocent Playmate raised her staff and a circular blue teleportation gate appeared above it.
The gate was etched with an imposing line of ancient characters, “The Almighty Frigid Blade!”
Following that declaration, ice blades shot out from the gate as they locked down on Ming Du.
…
“Come in here!”
Ming Du was trapped in the [Frigid Prison] but he mustered a response and shot a beam of light onto Innocent Playmate.
At this moment, Innocent Playmate appeared within [Frigid Prison] and Ming Du had reappeared in the position that Innocent Playmate had just stood.
“Ssssss!”
The [Frigid Blade] did not change their trajectory even when Innocent Playmate appeared.
Countless blades gushed out of the gate and unceasing stabbed into Innocent Playmate until she looked like a hedgehog.
Innocent Playmate was just a Magician with weak defence. After taking the full brunt of her own awakening skill, she had no chance of surviving. She dissipated into a streak of white light as she was sent out from the stage.

Disclaimer of sorts: I am non-native English writer that used to write mostly for himself. After my last computer decided to die on me taking all my works with it I lost the desire to write for quite a long time. This is my attempt to go find motivation to write again as this was my favourite hobby. The idea is to be held accountable. As for being non-native, I don't believe that should be a major issue as I feel my proficiency in English to be sufficient enough to not be too much of the distraction. That said, be forewarned that the rules governing punctuation are beyond my grasp. All I can do is try not to completely suck at that. As mentioned this is an attempt to motivate me to write again so any message, encouragement or constructive criticism will go long way.
