《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1254. Hundred Gold Wood

Boundless Ocean had always been this type of person. He was known for being the nice man who would never argue with others. He merely smiled towards Black Sky Yellow Earth’s provocation.
Despite knowing about Boundless Ocean’s good temper, Black Sky Yellow Earth was still unhappy when he saw his attitude. Therefore, he pointed at Boundless Ocean and said, “Hey! Do you dare to fight the next match against me?”
“Sure!” Boundless Ocean nodded as he accepted Black Sky Yellow Earth’s challenge with a smile.
“Damn it!” Wang Yu was dazed, “This Boundless Ocean fella is way too nice? Why did he accept a challenge that easily?”
“Tsk! You really think there are good guys here? Just watch what happens next,” Fearless commented.
Two players were sent to the arena.
It was indeed like what Fearless said. To be the leader of the number one squad in the country, Boundless Ocean was naturally not a person to be trampled upon despite his character.
The two players sent up for the second match were naturally not Boundless Ocean and Black Sky Yellow Earth.
Great Desolate Squad sent out a Pugilist called Universe Desolate while Kyushu Squad sent out a Guardian called Hundred Gold Wood.
When Black Sky Yellow Earth saw that Boundless Ocean wasn’t on the arena, he shouted and scolded Boundless Ocean, “Shameless! Didn’t you say you’ll be up?”
“Haha!” Boundless Ocean smiled and said, “We’re pretty much the same.”
Both were shameless fellas.
…
Even though both team leaders were not up, the ones sent out were both renowned experts too.
There was no need to talk much about Universe Desolate. The Great Desolate Squad was named after him so that was a representative of his ability. The only pity was that this fella actually chose the weakest job in > — a Pugilist.

Of course, spectators who had watched so many fights no longer had the notion that Pugilists were useless. This was especially after realising that none of the Pugilist who went up the stage was a pushover of any sorts. Of course, the Pugilists from Team A Murder Of Crows…
Hundred Gold Wood was an old expert from Kyushu Squad. Even though he didn’t have an arrogant title like Thunderlord Block had as the number one Guardian in the country, his skills were not any weaker than Thunderlord Block.
Something worth noting was that this fella was a fatty over two metres tall and over 150kg in real life. In the game, he was several folds rounder than his actual person. Standing there, he was as wide and solid as a wall. His mere presence was enough to let the opponent feel oppressed.
Universe Desolate, on the other hand, was a nimble, dainty and delicate Pugilist. Standing on the stage with Hundred Gold Wood, the small looked incredibly small while the big looked incredibly large. It was, in fact, a comical sight.
As the countdown ended, the match began.
Universe Desolate surged towards Hundred Gold Wood without saying anything.
Hundred Gold Wood lifted the shield in his hands calmly to protect his chest.
In >, a player’s equipment would be adjusted according to the size of the user. A shield was not an exception.
Even though a shield’s attributes wouldn’t improve from an increase in size, a shield with a bigger surface area would be able to defend more attacks.
This was because all Guardians were basically big blocks of rock.
Hundred Gold Wood was much larger in size than ordinary Guardian which was his advantage.
In the game, this fella was over two and a half metres tall so his shield was over three metres. With his shield raised, Hundred Gold Wood was basically covering half the space of the arena.

At this moment, Universe Desolate had already arrived in front of Hundred Gold Wood. He leaped upwards and was about to smash Hundred Gold Wood’s brain with his fist.
“B*stard!”
Hundred Gold Wood hurriedly used [Taunt] by pointing his middle finger.
Universe Desolate was pulled to his front.
Instead of waiting for Hundred Gold Wood to attack, Universe Desolate activated his [Inner Breath Roll] to break free of Hundred Gold Wood’s [Taunt].
“Impressive!” “Impressive!”
Fearless and the rest complimented at the sight of this move. Even Wang Yu gave his thumbs-up.
As everyone knew, a Pugilist was not proficient in any weapons who had a lower damage output. Even though they could use all kinds of weapons, most of their skills fall upon their fists and legs. Therefore, this was a disadvantage they had compared to the other jobs.
From another perspective, fists and legs have their benefits too. As long as it was within the range of penetration, a Pugilist would be an unstoppable force.
However, this had to be built on the basis of ‘penetration’.
When facing a massive Guardian like Hundred Gold Wood, penetration was exceedingly difficult. In addition to that bronze wall-like shield, even an expert like Universe Desolate would find it hard to force a penetration.
But Universe Desolate was much smarter than expected. This fella actually exposed a mistake, allowed Hundred Gold Wood to pull him in before making use of his opponent’s strength to complete the penetration.
A series of moves like that not only required exquisite skills but also guts. He was indeed a peak grade expert to be able to think of a way to penetrate in this manner.
At this moment, Universe Desolate was less than half a metre away from Hundred Gold Wood. With an extension of his arm, Universe Desolate pulled Hundred Gold Wood’s hair and dragged it downwards. Hundred Gold Wood was forced to bend over as Universe Desolate executed [Knee Strike].
“Boom!”
Universe Desolate’s knee smashed Hundred Gold Wood’s face firmly.
-11411
A red coloured number appeared above Hundred Gold Wood’s head.
Ten thousand HP might not be a lot to a high HP player like Hundred Gold Wood. However, Universe Desolate’s [Knee Strike] caused the stun effect.
A Pugilist was a master of consecutive skills. Once Hundred Gold Wood was stunned, Universe Desolate took a few steps forward, stepped on Hundred Gold Wood’s knee to jump upwards before executing [Rising Dragon Fist].
Hundred Gold Wood was in his stunned state so he was naturally unable to dodge that in time.
“Boom!”
Universe Desolate’s fist landed on Hundred Gold Wood’s chin.
Initially, Universe Desolate thought that this fist was enough to send Hundred Gold Wood flying. However, what he didn’t know was how heavy Hundred Gold Wood actually was. This fist was merely enough to straighten his back and not send him flying.
“F*ck! Is he a BOSS? Why is the airborne skill useless against him?”
The spectators were taken aback.
Vainglory was also astonished.
“What BOSS!” Fearless commented, “Hundred Gold Wood executed a ‘stabilising’ skill right before he was stunned!”
“No wonder!” Vainglory scratched his chin when he heard that.
Stabilising was a Guardian’s Super Armour skill which could dismiss the effects of any non-forceful control skills like an airborne strike.
Universe Desolate’s strikes were too quick so before his Super Armour effect ended, his [Rising Dragon Fist] was already on the way. Therefore, it was able to stop the airborne effect effectively. After all, both of them were professional experts with incredible PK skills. Outside of pure skills, a moment of slip up could be costly.

Apostle of the Goddess
A disappointed man dreams of leaving the confines of Earth and living adventures in fantastic realms...Suddenly, his wish is granted... Albeit in a far different way from what he could have expected. An isekai genre story with a few elements from LitRPG. The overall tone will be jumping back and forth from light to dark. Expect a lot of references to anime, manga, games, etc.It is written in first-person view and will contain a side-story using a "real-life" character. Initially, the MC will be writing the story as a true journal, so the prologue and first chapters may appear a mess of things that already happened, journal entries, and afterthoughts. A few chapters in, it will change into a normal, first-person manner retelling of what happened (storywise the character "Records" what happened to him). This is a side project of mine, so I will be uploading a few chapters per month. Chapters may have a severe difference in length (albeit I will try to maintain them around 3k), but expect the overall monthly word count to be not less than 15k words.Author recommendation, if you intend to follow the story, read the new updates once a month (counting from the day the first chapter is uploaded). Content Warning: I do intend to include a few disturbing moments to emphasize the darkness of the human (and other beings) nature, so please consider that even though some chapters (especially the starting ones) are kinda like a comedy routine.
