《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 979. Unexpected Moves

“…”
Everyone looked at one another then looked at the countless Thorn City’s players and suddenly, they had the feeling karma was here.
Just now they were the ones surrounding others and now, they were the ones surrounded.
“Kill these b*stards!”
It was unclear who yelled from the crowd but it was as though the players got the order and began attacking these chasers.
***My grandfather said that civilian warfare involves almost everyone so it is extremely scary.
Of course, these invaders’ ending was also very pitiful…
As the battle just now involved too many players and too many players died, Thorn City’s players would not give up so easily since they had the advantage… These guys would not be able to escape anytime soon. Not only did they not achieve their aim, but they were now on the losing end.
On the other hand, the instigators, Quan Zhen Sect, had returned to the store and were watching from the windows.
Seeing the pitiful plight of the chasing players, Ming Du slammed the table and said angrily, “Damn, although these guys are in trouble, we did not manage to make Hidden Lurker reveal himself. How annoying.”
“Haha!” Fearless laughed, “What’s there to be upset about. Hidden Lurker will naturally receive a more suitable punishment for him.”
“What punishment?” Ming Du asked puzzledly.
Fearless rose his eyebrows and asked, “Do you think all the city administrators are like you who don’t know the law?”
…
In a villa in China was a skinny youth in a gaming helmet who looked aggressive. He was reacting as part of his character in the game who was watching the chaos in Thorn City.
Just then, the game equipment sent a notification ring, “Someone is at the door, leave the game?”
“Leave!”
Watching the chaos in Thorn City and how the people he gathered were chased after like homeless people, it seemed like the youth was not in the mood to continue playing the game so he casually clicked the ‘leave’ button.

After leaving the game, the skinny youth washed his face then took his time to head downstairs to open the door. Just then, four to five burly policemen charged in.
“You… What are you guys doing?” The youth was shocked to see the police as he looked frantic.
“Are you Ma Zhenkuan?” The police looked at the youth and asked.
“Yes, that’s me but I did not do anything against the law. You guys are looking for the wrong person.” The youth nodded.
The police asked again, “Is your ID in Soaring Dragon Game Studio’s game, >, Hidden Lurker?”
“…” The youth paused for a while and said, “Yes, it’s me…”
“Then that’s right!” The police took out their identification and said, “You are suspected of spreading others’ private information on public platforms in exchange for your own interests. Upon report by the victims and after investigation, it has been proven true. You are now arrested under the “Cyber-Security Act of the People’s Republic of China”.
“I…” Hearing what the police said, Hidden Lurker’s heart dropped and his legs weakened.
He never thought that Quan Zhen Sect not only guessed it was him and even reported him.
This was like two gangs of people fighting and one side asked the principal to meet them there. What an unpredictable move…
“Does this mean that Hidden Lurker will be arrested?” Hearing what Fearless said, everyone asked in shock.
“Of course!” Fearless said, “The policemen might already have found where his house is through his IP address now.”
“F*ck! How shameless! I’ve never seen such a despicable play!” Everyone expressed their disdain for Fearless.
Fearless did not mind them and said, “Hidden Lurker sold our information for money which violated our legal rights. Furthermore, he even cyber-bullied us. How am I more despicable than him?”
“Erm…” Everyone gave it some thought then changed sides, “This idiot deserves it.”

Indeed, no matter how despicable Quan Zhen Sect was, they played the game legally and never passed the bottom line of the law and morality.
There were a lot of rules online but Hidden Lurker did not follow them by cheating Solitary Ling of her equipment and selling Quan Zhen Sect’s information. When dealing with such people, nothing was more effective than getting him arrested for a few days.
Just then, Vainglory said, “If we knew Fearless reported him, we wouldn’t have spent so much effort dealing with these people.”
“It’s different!” Spring Halo explained, “These people are not Hidden Lurker’s subordinates so his survival did not affect them.”
“But if they died, it would be Hidden Lurker’s problem,” Wang Yu added from aside.
“Wow, Fearless is really cruel!” Vainglory was enlightened.
Thorn City’s disaster was caused by Hidden Lurker. Not only were Abundance of Gold and the other dozen of guilds involved, but the nearby main cities’ guilds’ players were too.
Everyone had fought Thorn City’s players several times. Hidden Lurker had to take responsibility for bringing in so many people to raid the city.
As long as they knew who the instigator was, Hidden Lurker would not be able to play this game anymore after offending so many guilds.
The chasing and killing outside continued for long while Quan Zhen Sect and Team Red Flame left Thorn City.
After Team Red Flame had the tactic Quan Zhen Sect provided them with, they began collecting fragments too.
In the twenty main cities in the seven regions, although Quan Zhen Sect was capable, they could only collect fragments from four main cities so it was not in conflict with Team Red Flame.
However, Team Red Flame’s players did not have the ability to kill a BOSS so attracting a BOSS out would naturally benefit others. Of course, they could also cause chaos like in Thorn City.
Because of the Fantasy Goblin BOSS’ Illusion Spell, other than Twilight City, other main cities were disrupted to a certain extent. Although it was more chaotic in Thorn City, they were not the only one.
On the third day of the event, it was the same as the second day. Quan Zhen Sect first collected the fragments in Twilight City then wiped the neighbouring cities clean.
While Twilight City’s players peacefully lived a day in the grave-sweeping quest… the other main cities were fighting hard.
At 8 pm on the fourth day, the Qingming Festival rain in all the main cities cleared and the event came to an end.
In the three-day event, the game was in chaos as players were going after fragments and fighting Fantasy Goblin BOSS. Only Twilight City’s players saved on the violence and focused on tomb-sweeping. They not only gained XP, everyone had three fragments each and were labelled the most harmonious main city.
Twilight City ranked first for the number of cape fragments and their collective ability significantly rose to the 15th place in the game, doing better than the seventh region’s capital, War God City, in just one event.
Twilight City was a sidelined small city which was definitely incomparable to big cities like the Vatican City and was even smaller in terms of land area than its neighbouring main city, Thorn City. It was jaw-dropping for their players’ collective ability to rise to the 15th spot.
Well, while others were fighting one another and losing XP, Twilight City’s players were completing the quest and levelling up. This was all thanks to a good City Lord.
