《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 902. The Real Wharton

Hearing the conversation between the two, Sanguine Warflag started to doubt his own understanding towards life. This was the first time he had ever witnessed such an interaction between a player and a BOSS.
Wasn’t the existence of BOSS to allow players to challenge it? How could they harbor hatred for the player that killed them? If all the BOSSes that Wang Yu killed were like Wharton, that would be dreadful.
Not only Sanguine Warflag, but even Wang Yu was also startled, “He revived because of me? What kind of logic is this?”
“Hmph, as a warrior, I will not allow myself to be humiliated by dying in your hands.” Wharton was exasperated.
Previously, Wharton had worn a heavy armour, preventing Wang Yu’s attacks from penetrating through. Together, with the help of Ming Du, they barely managed to kill Wharton.
Wang Yu did not attain the last victory honorably. Thus, Wharton refused to accept the defeat.
Wang Yu laughed upon hearing what Wharton had said, “So that’s the case… Sorry for making things difficult for you then.”
Seeing that Wharton revived because of himself, Wang Yu felt slightly uncomfortable in his heart.
“I am willing to sacrifice anything as long as I can defeat you,” Wharton coldly uttered.
Right after Wharton spoke, Wang Yu and his team members received a new mission notification.
“Hidden Quest?” Sanguine Warflag was startled. He turned over to Wang Yu to seek his opinion, “Should we accept the quest, Old Bull?”
While hidden quests could only be discovered by chance, accepting it, however, would mean an increase in the difficulty of the dungeon. Thus, Sanguine Warflag was hesitant about it.
Furthermore, there was a time restriction currently and speed was of the essence. If things were up to Sanguine Warflag, he would have definitely rejected the quest. However, Wang Yu was the main focus now. As bold as Sanguine Warflag was, he would never dare to overlook the opinion of Wang Yu.

Upon looking at the mission board, Wang Yu asked Wharton, “If we were to fight one more round, will you be contented?”
Wharton replied, “As long as it is a fair fight, even if I die, there will be no regrets.”
“Good!” Wang Yu nodded and told Wharton, “I respect you as a warrior and this time, there would be no external help. I accept your challenge.”
“Old Bull, you have to reconsider your decision. The difficulties of the dungeon will increase if you choose to accept it!” Sanguine Warflag exclaimed in panic, seeing that Wang Yu accepted the challenge.
Wang Yu replied, “I know of that, but I am a warrior myself!” Even Wharton, an NPC, had a sense of Warrior’s heart in him. How could a human being like Wang Yu reject such a challenge?
“This… Alright.”
Even though Sanguine Warflag was not very willing, seeing Wang Yu’s stand, he did not dare to go against his opinion and decided to just follow suit.
While the players were receiving the quest, a ray of black light emerged from the body of Wharton. Following which, he revealed a face of joy.
Real, Enchanted Legendary Dusk Bandit-Wharton (LV 45) (Obsidian Grade BOSS) (Ancient)
HP: 5000000
MP: 200000
Abilities: [Proficient Warrior], [Blood Sucking Berserk]
Talent: Magical Transformation
Background introduction: As an infamous yet formidable and renowned swordsman, Wharton had amassed over 3000 bandits under his cause. Throughout the past 10 years, many experts have tried to eliminate him but all have perished under his blade.
“F*ck!” Upon seeing Wharton’s new attributes, the 3-man party was shocked.
D*mn, It did not occur to them that the BOSS of Twilight City which had a reputation of being the easiest BOSS to defeat would have such an identity. Furthermore, it is an ancient class BOSS. It was no wonder why the City Lord of Twilight City could never manage to eliminate this group of bandits.

Thinking about it, normally only the powerful BOSSes had their own names. Wharton, being a BOSS with his own name, would naturally not be as weak as he appeared to be.
“Ha Ha Ha!!” Seeing how shocked Wang Yu looked, Wharton laughed, ” Are you scared now after you have seen my true abilities?”
“It is still manageable!” Wang Yu replied, ” I forgot to mention something earlier on.”
“What?” Wharton questioned.
Wang Yu calmly replied, “Being able to suffer defeat under my hands is not something to be ashamed of.”
“How dare you look down on me? Stop this nonsense! Watch my blade.”
Agitated by what he heard, Wharton swung his blade with tremendous force at Wang Yu’s head.
Although Wharton was a strength-typed BOSS, the speed of his slash was extremely quick. His strike carried with it the vigor and strength enough to split open the earth beneath him.
Facing the oncoming attack, Wang Yu gracefully leapt to the sides to avoid it, causing Wharton’s blade to hack into the earth.
“Boom!”
With just a casual strike of Wharton’s blade, a deep valley was formed at the spot where Wharton’s blade had struck the ground.
Sanguine Warflage couldn’t help but wipe off the cold sweat on his face. If anyone was hit by an attack with such destructive prowess, death would be the only outcome.
[Horizontal slash]!
Although Wharton missed his initial strike, he immediately hauled up his blade with both arms and swung his blade rightwards, in the direction of Wang Yu.
Wang Yu retreated backwards and dodged the oncoming strikes concurrently. With his gaze fixed on Wharton’s blade, he simultaneously changed the weapon in his hand to that of a long rod.
With Wharton’s strength, holding the long sword was similar to holding a long weapon. As the saying goes, the longer the weapon, the stronger it is. The only weapon that was able to compete against Wharton’s blade without being in a disadvantageous position would be the long rod.
[Charge]!
Seeing that he had missed his strike again, Wharton put away his blade, before lowering his head and charging towards Wang Yu.
Seeing that Wharton activated [Charge], Wang Yu smirked. He calmly rolled a few metres to the side, before abruptly turning back, sending his long rod flying towards Wharton simultaneously.
“Slam!”
It was a direct hit to Wharton’s temple.
Despite receiving a direct blow towards his head, Wharton remained unfazed. Shortly after, a green coloured number appeared above Wharton’s head, indicating the damage dealt to him.
-0
“This…. How is this possible?”
Seeing that Wharton received no damage from that strike at all, Wang Yu was slightly unnerved. As Wharton was not wearing any helmet, a direct hit to the temple would have normally resulted in large damage dealt to the target.
No damage? This is so humiliating.
“He He! Given your ability, do you think you are able to harm me?”
With a cold humph, Wharton raised his blade once more and leaped towards Wang Yu.
Wang Yu wasn’t unfamiliar with this move, [Mountain Shattering Blow]. Apart from it being Wharton’s signature move, it was also a skill available to the Warrior job class and had strong judgement.
In the past, Wang Yu would have dashed forwards to grab hold of the sword with Taichi. However, the evolved Wharton’s attacks had better judgement. Wang Yu wasn’t that ignorant to use the same old tactic against the newly evolved Wharton.
Wang Yu quickly retreated back two steps, escaping the attacking range of Wharton. The moment Wharton landed, Wang Yu extended his long rod and accurately jabbed it towards Wharton’s eyes.
