《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 860. Kindred Spirits

All of the lifetime members were considered big shots. Informing the boss, Li Jian, of any of their arrival in the club was an unspoken rule and thus it was understandable for the receptionist to notify Li Jian of Wang Yu’s arrival.
“This… alright, go ahead and inform him then…” Wang Yu nodded in agreement after receiving approval from Mu Zi Xian.
Wang Yu was a man that listened to his wife. In order not to let Mu Zi Xian worry for his own safety, he had already been prepared to return the card to Li Jian. After all, he didn’t do anything to receive the card.
“Okay, I will go and inform him this instant.” Following which, the receptionist walked back to the counter and made a phone call on the telephone.
At this moment, Li Jian just so happened to be in his office receiving some guests. Upon receiving the call from the receptionist, he gloomily asked, “What? Did anything happen? Didn’t I ask you not to disturb me at this time?”
“There’s a Mr. Wang here who is looking for you,” the receptionist replied over the phone.
“What Mr. Wang? Is it another customer?” The incident itself had happened quite some time ago. For a person as busy as Li Jian, he had long forgotten who Wang Yu was and his encounter with him.
“He’s a customer but he has a lifetime membership card.” The receptionist added.
“A lifetime membership card?” Li Jian was stunned for a moment. He then added, “That’s impossible, aren’t there only three lifetime membership cards in circulation? Neither of those three members has a surname of Wang. What is his card’s number?”
“Number 1!” The receptionist said after glancing at the card in her hand.
After hearing what the receptionist said, Li Jian was even more confused. He said, “Isn’t the number 1 card mine?” As he said this, Li Jian habitually picked up the wallet on his table and with a glance, he realised that his own card had been missing a long time ago. At this moment, he finally recalled the incident previously and remembered that he had given away his membership card a long time ago.

Thinking up till this point, Li Jian hurriedly replied on the phone, “Ask brother Wang to wait for me for a moment, I’ll be there soon.”
After putting down the phone, Li Jian promptly stood up and bowed to the middle-aged man who looked to be around 40 to 50 years old and said, “Teacher Liang, I have to go and receive a guest, pardon me.”
Leaving halfway while in the middle of talking business with a guest was extremely rude behaviour. Despite Li Jian having already apologised, the middle-aged man addressed as Teacher Liang revealed a look of dissatisfaction in his face.
With a frown, he said unhappily, “What guest could it be such that it would cause President Li to ditch another guest right in front of him?”
Li Jian replied, “This… It’s an old friend, and one from your line of trade in fact.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Initially, Teacher Liang was just a little frustrated by Li Jian’s actions. Upon hearing Li Jian’s words, a conflicted expression was revealed on his face.
This Teacher Liang was a martial artist himself and was one that Li Jian had gone to great lengths in order to invite him over. Just when the both of them were about to talk business, having heard that there was someone working in the same trade as him outside, it was natural for Teacher Liang to think that Li Jian had found a fellow competitor.
Martial Artists all had their own unique personalities and most of them had a certain ego to uphold. Teacher Liang had initially thought that this high-salary job was meant solely for him, but now that a competitor had turned up, how could he take it lying down?
However, Teacher Liang was a martial artist at the end of the day and was more than capable of keeping his thoughts to himself. Following which, Teacher Liang put on a smile and said, “Oh, it’s someone from the same trade? Then I guess I have to go over and give my greetings as well.”
“Sure…” Li Jian was a businessman himself. He knew the meaning behind Teacher Liang’s words. It just so happened that Li Jian wanted to test out the capabilities of Teacher Liang, thus, he agreed to it readily.

Soon, Li Jian and Teacher Liang had arrived at the reception hall. Wang Yu was leisurely drinking tea with Mu Zi Xian on the couch at this moment.
As someone born from a big and respectable family, Wang Yu naturally had a different temperament compared to ordinary folks. Coupled with his experience as a martial artist, he was extremely calm when he saw Li Jian.
Mu Zi Xian was a little awkward. Even though she wasn’t inexperienced in these things, she was still someone of the lower social class. Thus, it was natural for her to feel a little nervous when meeting with a big shot in such a setting.
Upon seeing the married couple, Teacher Liang, who was standing beside Li Jian, couldn’t help but scorn in his heart, thinking, “What martial artist? More like a con artist.”
Of course, Li Jian was someone that had seen Wang Yu’s skills. Upon meeting Wang Yu this time round, he was extremely excited.
“Brother Wang!!”
Li Jian waved his hand from afar before hurrying over to greet Wang Yu.
“That… it’s little Li right?” Wang Yu stood up, smiling and nodding his head at the same time.
“What brings you here today? It has been so long since I last saw you. I thought you had forgotten about this place of mine,” Li Jian said.
Wang Yu smiled and replied, “I recently went back to my home and had been busy ever since. Now that my martial arts has broken through to another realm, I thought of coming over here to practice a little.”
“Oh? I thought that Brother Wang’s Martial Arts had already reached its peak? It could still break through?” Upon hearing what Wang Yu said, Li Jian was shocked. He himself was a martial arts lover and his knowledge of martial arts wasn’t any lesser than that of Mu Zi Xian’s.
Even though Li Jian had never witnessed the skills of other martial artists before, he himself knew that someone as capable as Wang Yu was certainly the cream of the crop in the martial arts world. For someone like him to still be able to break through to a new realm, it was certainly exceptional.
“There’s no such thing as a peak as well as the limit to what one can achieve in martial arts… As martial artists, we must always strive to overcome…”
“Ke ke.” Just when Wang Yu was about to educate Li Jian, Teacher Liang who was standing beside Li Jian couldn’t help but sneer at Wang Yu’s words.
No limits? No peak? Teacher Liang himself has been a Martial Arts practitioner for so many years and yet he did not dare to spout such big words. Seeing Wang Yu putting on such a confident front and spouting such arrogant words, Teacher Liang plastered a smile on his face and asked Wang Yu, “Little friend, dare I ask which realm has your boxing technique reached?”
Being a well-tempered man, Wang Yu wasn’t affected by this interruption in the least. He truthfully replied, “I have just broken through the Grandmaster realm.”
“HAHA!!”
Previously, Teacher Liang could still stifle his laughter. However, upon hearing what Wang Yu had said this time around, he immediately burst into laughter.
Wang Yu was confused by Teacher Liang’s reaction, thus he gave Li Jian an inquisitive glance.
Li Jian revealed a slight smile and introduced Teacher Liang, “Seeing that you didn’t have the time to help me out, I invited another martial arts expert to be my martial arts coach. This is Teacher Liang.”
“Greetings, Teacher Liang.” Wang Yu cupped his fist and greeted Liang Zhen Yun.
“Hmph!” Seeing Wang Yu cupping his fist at him, Liang Zhen Yun was displeased once more.
“…”
Seeing Liang Zhen Yu’s reaction, Wang Yu was stunned for a moment. He said calmly to Liang Zhen Yu, “Is anything the matter?”
Liang Zhen Yu coldly said, “What a brazen lad. You dare to address me as your peer?”

An Oneshot story for my KBN character called Scar. He is known to be one of the heaviest KBN due to him having his armor enhanced with a special material that is heat resistant and unable to crack after multiple hits, but the armor can be compromised by swords made by the same material or its alternative substance. Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
