“Ok!” Fearless nodded and asked, “How much is 145789 multiplied by 114578?”
Ming Du yelled, “F*ck! How would I know?! Give me something within ten.”
Spring Halo looked at everyone then hesitantly said, “I can’t do this math too!”
“Then…” Fearless rubbed his nose.
“Ask another one, a simpler one.” Spring Halo said.
“No need!” Fearless said, “We already know who is the fake one.”
“Who?” Spring Halo heard him and paused as though he wanted to say something. Suddenly, someone smashed his head and at the same time, Darknorth Fisher appeared behind Spring Halo.
Seeing how Spring Halo’s poisonous smog was gone, Ming Du sighed in relief and put out the fire in his hand.
Boson walked to Spring Halo and took away his weapons.
Spring Halo struggled and shouted, “We have the same answer. Why am I the inner demon?”
“Haha!” Everyone laughed, “Even if it was ten times harder, Doggy Spring would be able to solve it. Are you insulting his intelligence?”
Hearing everyone’s words, Spring Halo’s expression changed and laid down without strength.
“The inner demon is gone. Ask another question to test him,” everyone suggested.
“Who is the fastest runner on earth?” Fearless asked.
“A reporter from somewhere…”
“Yup,” Fearless said.
This time around, they identified the inner demon faster, within two minutes. The inner demon did not reappear after leaving.
Hence, everyone came to the conclusion that the inner demon appeared once every five minutes. It should appear another two times later on and even more schemingly.
“We are being too passive. We should come up with something!” Fearless rubbed his chin and said.
“How should we approach it?” Everyone knew they had to come up with something but the inner demon came and went without a trace so no one knew what to do.

Spring Halo said, “As you guys saw, the inner demon is very intelligent. His aim is to kill all of us. If he possesses Ming Du or Old Bull, a high damage class, we will definitely die and fail the quest.”
“That’s easy!” Wang Yu smiled, “Let’s keep all our weapons then take down equipment that increases damage and only leave high defence equipment on.”
“That makes sense!” Hearing what Wang Yu said, everyone nodded.
Without damage, there would not be death. As long as the inner demon could not instant kill the player, it will expose itself and then everyone just had to hold him down.
“Alright. Everyone, do it!” Fearless ordered and everyone kept their equipment, changed into defence equipment, then stood against the wall.
Indeed, after they changed their equipment, the next two possessions were way easier.
Everyone stood against the wall and monitored one another, ignoring whatever others did so long they did not attack their teammates. Twenty minutes passed by quickly and the system notified that they passed the second round.
The scene changed back to the temple and the sign representing the second round was circled in green on top of the roulette. The hollow voice anticipatingly said, “Good job, warriors. Next, is the final round. Please choose.”
Hearing the hollow voice, everyone looked at the remaining round names on the roulette.
“Nine Deaths One Life, Thousands of Hardships…”
All the names of the rounds sounded scary, causing everyone’s goosebumps to stand. This third round was out to kill them.
Yang Nuo was about to move the roulette but Wang Yu suddenly said, “Don’t move it.”
“Why?” Yang Nuo asked puzzledly, “Do you want to do it?”
Wang Yu smiled but did not say anything. He took out a pen from his bag, passed it to Spring Halo, then whispered something to him.

Spring Halo was shocked and said, “Will we receive retribution for doing this…”
Wang Yu said, “No worries, I tried it recently…”
“Then why don’t you do it yourself?”
“You are the professional.” Wang Yu smiled.
“…” Spring Halo walked to the roulette in disbelief then copied the circle from the previous two rounds, and drew a circle around the third round’s sign.
Spring Halo was indeed a professional artist and copied it exactly.
“Brother Spring, what are you doing?” Seeing Spring Halo vandalise the top of the roulette, everyone was upset but Fearless looked at Wang Yu in shock.
Conceal, Wang Yu learnt this from Fearless.
Fearless used to cheat Hermit using fake wine because Fearless knew that Hermit would not do anything to Wang Yu but Fearless did not think Wang Yu was more ruthless and cheated the system. He was so daring.
“I want to know too.”
In the face of everyone’s suspicion, Spring Halo walked back and passed the pen to Wang Yu.
Soon, the hollow voice extremely angrily said, “You guys are cheating!”
“…” Spring Halo helplessly threw his arms, “See, it can’t work.”
“Really?” Wang Yu shook his head depressedly, “We cheated Master Hermit just two days ago…”
“…”
Hermit was an NPC but could this voice be compared to him? This voice was likely to be the system. If they failed, they would just be cursed but cheating the system would cause them to receive retribution.
Just as everyone was hopeless, suddenly, the temple lit up. Soon, a weakly, old NPC descended from the sky and landed in front of everyone.
Seeing that the NPC’s information were all question marks, everyone was even more afraid. Did they trigger a huge BOSS?
However, the old NPC was not as angry as everyone thought. Instead, he looked at everyone in amusement, “I am the God of Trials, Durit. You guys are really interesting.”
The voice was from the same person as the hollow voice. This guy was also an NPC and everyone heaved a sigh of relief. So long it was an NPC, they could handle it.
“Haha.” Seeing how easygoing Durit was, Fearless laughed and went over to him to pass Durit a bag of money, “We are still young, please give us a chance.”
“No more chances!” Durit took the money then shook his head.
Wang Yu said in an upset tone, “Really? All we did was draw a circle. We did not curse anyone.”
“Haha!” Durit laughed out loud, “You guys passed all three rounds. Do you guys really want to do it again?”
“What?” Hearing what Durit said, everyone was confused, “Are you kidding us?”
“I am not an NPC who lies.” Durit said, “The quest name is United, so as its name’s meaning, I’m only testing how united your team is, regardless of how you pass. That is not my business.”
“…” Everyone was speechless once more. Fearless was even more depressed that he wasted the money just now. This game’s three rounds indeed infuriated everyone…
“Alright, this is your reward!” Durit opened his hands and golden rays of light entered their bodies.
United (pseudo): When with players of the same team, there is a 10% chance that when HP is below 30%, it will recover fully. Cooldown time is 1200 seconds.>

Corinth
This is the story of an expanding empire, not understanding its reach, unfulfilled by its goals, and misled by its gods. It follows a group of travellers as they try to expand the empire, and probe the edges of its control. It is set in a world in which power is directly connected to origins, ancestry, and the gods of a culture. It examines the effects of conflict on a people when they can’t be disconnected from their surroundings, and thus true mobility is not possible. The first book will be focusing on a group trying to explore and settle the lands east of their empire. Deciding that a new push is needed, groups are being funded to take and farm the near-empty land, and this group of four is heading out ahead of many of the settlers. The four - Sojo, Mirrel, Eyn, and Brehen - hope to find and chart something of importance in a vast, nearly unexplored landscape, and bring the knowledge back to make their fortune. The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
