《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 764. An Epic Step

People who practice martial arts prefer to spar to reason things out, especially young martial artists.
The Wang Clan had already prepared for this kind of situation to happen since they have been in the martial arts since and people really do come to fight just because of minor disagreements, even if its in Wang’s territory.
Soon enough, the securities noticed the commotion and stepped in to bring the two parties away from each other.
Those young punks would not dare to behave atrociously on other people’s grounds, so they pointed at the middle-aged man and said, “You old thing, dare to spar?”
Faced with provocation by these youngsters, the middle-aged man did not get angry but instead said, “Kid, mind your words. I’m not an old thing. My name is Dong Yunshan.”
“I don’t care what your name is! I just want to know if you dare to spar!” The youngster’s tone was still aggressive. Of course, just as he completed the sentence, the atmosphere became quiet immediately.
Faced with the sudden quiet atmosphere with stares from everyone, the youngster was caught with surprise too, and asked with caution, “Who did you say you are?”
“Dong Yunshan! We haven’t met before!” Dong Yunshan replied as he held his fists up to greet.
“…”
Those youngsters looked at one another, starstruck.
Wow, it’s Dong Yunshan. There was almost no one who did not know him for being undefeatable. Those youngsters could not even defeat anyone on Wang Yu’s table. If they fight Dong Yunshan, they were definitely asking for it.
“Aiya, today’s weather is not bad, even Master Dong is here to take a breather.” The youngsters replied after scanning Dong Yunshan with panic, then quickly went back to their seats.
“Yes, it makes me happy to see all of you youngsters being so energetic as well,” Dong Yunshan smiled and replied.
Due to the fact that he did not have any disciples, Dong Yunshan was genuinely delighted to see youngsters who know martial arts.

However, those youngsters were just scared to death, thinking that Dong Yunshan was asking for a spar, and replied immediately, “Master Dong, a person of great moral stature like you will not remember the offenses committed by one of low moral stature.”
“Hmph! Bunch of useless idiots!” After seeing her followers backing out, Li Yujie stared at them, and said, “So it turns out that you are Senior Dong. I heard that your Eight Trigrams Guild had a sectarian bias, and now it is waning.”
The Li Clan was a big guild as well, hence, different from the others, Li Yujie was not wary of Dong Yunshan.
“Sii…”
After hearing what Li Yujie said, everyone took in a deep breath of cold air. Even the Clan Head of the Li Clan shivered.
There is a saying that goes, “Do not expose people’s shortcomings when cursing at them.” Even though Li Yujie was a well-known woman, her words were cruel. Everyone knew about the decline of Eight Trigrams Guild, but saying this kind of things about Dong Yunshan was just rubbing salt onto his wound.
Dong Yunshan shook his head and replied with a bitter smile, “Haha, you little girl speak incisively… I am now embarrassed at myself.”
“Hmph! Fake!” Li Yujie responded coldly.
Dong Yunshan shook his head again and replied, “It was exactly because I felt the damage parochialism brought, that is why I am so against it now.”
“Then show it.” Seeing that Dong Yunshan dug his own grave, Li Yujie took the chance to shoot him down further.
“Of course I should!”
Dong Yunshan smiled, lifted the yellow bag beside him walked towards the main seat and said, “I, Head Master of Eight Trigrams Guild came late. I didn’t have time to send my congratulatory gift, so this just a small token for you.”
Dong Yunshan handed the yellow bag to Old Wang, and Old Wang handed it to Grandpa Wang.

When Grandpa Wang saw the bronze mirror on the yellow bag, everyone on the main table was shocked as well.
The Eight Trigrams mirror! This was Eight Trigram Guild’s inheritance object!!
Every guild has an inheritance object, and the Eight Trigrams Mirror symbolises Eight Trigram guild’s thousand years of history. Dong Yunshan gave the mirror to the Wang Clan, and that meant that they are now responsible for the inheritance of Eight Trigram Guild?
After a long while, Grandpa Wang sighed and said, “Head Master Dong… I’m afraid I cannot accept this gift.”
Dong Yunshan replied, “If you can’t, then there is no one else who can.”
“Can I know the reason?” Grandpa Wang questioned.
Everyone was as confused as Grandpa Wang.
Even though Eight Trigrams Guild was of a smaller scale, it was a big guild in the past. Also, there was no need for Dong Yunshan to pass on all his techniques and attainments to the Wang Clan. To a guild, inheritance was very precious, so there should be a reason for Dong Yunshan to give it away.
Dong Yunshan pointed to Wang Yu and said, “I bumped into Brother Iron Bull, and was defeated by him. He achieved such a high level of martial art skills at such a young age, and it’s very rare. Since Eight Trigram Guild cannot be inherited after me, I have to make sure its heritage passes on and I can only do that by discarding parochialism.”
“Ha? This rascal even defeated Dong Yunshan?” After hearing Dong Yun Shan, everyone present was in shock. Indeed, each new generation excelled the previous, even the undefeatable Dong Yun Shan had been defeated, and it proved that Wang Yu’s title of being unequalled was legitimate.
“You have to think about that carefully! This belongs to Eight Trigrams Guild!” Grandpa Wang replied unbelievably.
Dong Yunshan replied, “I have thought about it carefully already. Martial arts should be focused more on inheritance, not parochialism. It doesn’t matter who glorifies the art as long as it’s being passed down.”
Including Grandpa Wang, everyone present was blown away by what Dong Yun Shan said.
Of course, most people scolded “idiot” in their hearts and only a few of them felt the same way as Dong Yunshan.
Kung Fu techniques would only be glorified when the number of learners increases, but hogging onto parochialism would only make it wane. Why was it that martial arts were abandoned by a lot of people? It was mostly because those people who learned it had only had self-interests. Only when it was truly shared to every corner of the world without discrimination could it be glorified.
Even though just by abandoning parochialism and giving inheritance away alone could not guarantee the enrichment of martial arts, Dong Yunshan made a huge epic step towards it.
Youngsters perhaps could not feel the pain of the disappearance of martial art techniques, but the old masters on the main table had deep emotions for that. After hearing what Dong Yunshan said, each of them looked down and were lost for words.
“Master Dong, you should sit at the main seat,” Grandpa Wang said with respect while he pointed at Wang Yu’s seat.
“There is no need for this. I still have to catch up with my little brother Iron Bull.”
Dong Yunshan replied, holding up his fists to greet the elders, and then sat beside Wang Yu.
Li Yujie was even more surprised by Dong Yunshan, because she would never have thought that he would have the boldness to give away his inheritance. This stuff was very precious and could not be exchanged with just money.
“Master Dong, I apologise for those words I’ve said just now…” Li Yujie said immediately.
Dong Yunshan waved his hands and replied, “It doesn’t matter. What you said was true too.”
“You have to learn it properly.” Dong Yunshan turned to Wang Yu and said while tapping his shoulders.
“Mm!” Wang Yu nodded his head.

Fighting to be Kind in a Cultivation World
Aren't you tired of the typical cultivation story, where an isekai'd person comes into the world and becomes a brutal or selfish person? I know I am. So instead of being fully changed by the world, I want this protagonist to stick to their beliefs and help to change the world (and people) for the better. There will still be main character development and tests of those beliefs, but I want them to maintain that aspect. Brief Synopsis:American is thrown into a typical Xuanhuan cultivation world where the masses of the people are typically sacrificed for the abilities of the few. This is meant to be an alternate take on how protagonists approach these worlds. Main character comes into the world w/ scanning, healing, and monster taming abilities. The release schedule will begin on Dec 1st. The schedule is 2 chapters/week (Tue & Fri) at 11pm. Please like, comment, and follow, as that helps me to gauge interest in the series. Final note: I notice that many cultivation novels treat abuse or sexual assault as a throwaway tool to set a stage. I think the way it is normally done is both lazy and a disrespectful to victims. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the way I've done it in this series, please let me know. I want to do this the right way. P.S. *Nudge, nudge* If you are looking for a sneak peek of up to 16 chapters ahead, check out my Patreon. :D
